It was a cluster of faint blue dots that suddenly rose from the sea to the surface at some unknown time. They gathered little by little and gradually multiplied, densely covering the reef area, rising and falling with the waves.
It really looked like a field of fireflies. Another friend, who was also his uncle, Sterling Alexander, stepped forward and whispered, "It's blue tears. We've come to the right place."
Yes, a crew member who escaped from Paradise Island once said that although he couldn't remember the exact location, there was a dangerous group of reefs and "blue tears" near Paradise Island.
Sterling's voice carried a strange excitement: "It's this path. The reefs will block the fleet's progress, the blue tears will release a deadly toxin that kills on contact, and in half an hour, the legendary feature of the reefs—the mist—will appear here."
"If we can get through the mist, we'll reach Paradise Island."
Sterling was a composed young man with an outwardly cold demeanor, like a heavy snowfall in winter. At this moment, the eccentric nature of this man, who had remained unchanged for 30 years since birth, finally relaxed a little.
Maybe they were just tired of being on a boat for so long.
Louis rarely associated with his uncle, who stayed at the Earl's mansion studying. If his father hadn't asked him to take him out to meet people often, Louis would hardly have walked with this taciturn man.
God knows how Louis felt when he set sail and Sterling offered to join him on his adventure; it was simply unbelievable.
"Uncle, it seems you've finished reading all the documents."
Sterling calmly replied, "Thank you for the information."
"You're welcome."
The two looked at the blue tears outside, wondering what exactly the "monster" in the legendary mist was.
In this ambiguous atmosphere, half an hour passed quickly, and the crew members had already reported their panic several times.
"Those blue tears are corroding our ship!"
The waves in the reef area were much calmer, the boat stabilized, and Louis regained his elegant composure: "I have some confidence. Our boat was made by the best craftsmen, and they put a lot of effort into it. These little things can gnaw on it for a month and still not break it."
Sterling, standing beside him, remained expressionless, his eyes fixed intently on the water below, his musket strapped securely to his waist.
Behind him were four other people with equally serious expressions. Some were relaxed, some were tense, and some were as calm and composed as Sterling. They were also armed.
Upon seeing this, Louis said, "Syllo, when did you guys learn to shoot?"
The beautiful young woman in the imperial dress possessed a sharp and imposing aura, yet her face was gentle and refined.
"I learned this in the last few days."
Louis shook his head and sighed, "You're really something. I didn't know you'd become so interesting. If Mother knew her favorite little niece had suddenly sneaked onto the ship, she would definitely punish me."
My little cousin hid on the ship for more than ten days. By the time he realized what was happening, most of the sea had already been out. She was a noble girl, after all. I don't know where she got the courage.
To be honest, the friends and relatives who followed him this time were not very familiar with him, and it was unexpected that they would be so interested in adventure.
Especially Uncle Sterling and Cousin Hilllo.
Louis touched the glittering brooch on his chest.
However, it's normal for anyone to be interested in an island that's said to be full of gold, right?
As time passed, and before we knew it, a thick fog began to appear around the ship.
The fog in the sky had dissipated considerably, and it was unclear whether it would rain again. The boat moved at a snail's pace, slowly gliding across the sea.
The ship kept hitting the rocks, keeping the captain very busy. While tense, he continued to pray, "God help us, may the ship be safe and sound!"
Jason calmly replied, "Don't worry, everything will be fine."
The captain kicked him: "You wretched fellow, you're never much better off than me in these kinds of situations in the past, so why aren't you worried today?"
Jason paused for a moment, then quickly regained his composure: "If you keep your worries to yourself, they won't come true if you say them out loud."
The four people beside him had ambiguous smiles on their faces.
The captain's concerns were not unfounded. A few minutes later, the ship struck a sharp reef and ran aground in the shallow waters. A crew member ran over in a panic to report that there was a large hole in the ship and that it was taking on water. The repairs were clearly not going to keep up with the rate at which the ship was taking on water.
Another chaotic scene ensued, and 20 minutes later, several nobles and some brave sailors disembarked from the large ship onto the smaller vessels stored on board.
The small boats were prepared in advance, but there were only four of them. Each boat could carry a maximum of seven to eight people at a time. Louis, Sterling, Hilllow, and two other nobles boarded the boats first, while the other nobles decided to stay on board and see how things went.
Even at this point, Louis calmly reassured the captain, "We'll come back to pick up the people once we find our way out. Don't worry too much. This is shallow water. What if the water recedes tomorrow? Then we can repair the ship."
Sterling remained calm: "Paradise Island shouldn't be far. Let's find the road, rest a bit, and then set off quickly. Even if the ship sinks, no one will be hurt."
Hilllow was even more decisive: "Let's set off now."
The captain was worried: "It's completely dark at sea now, and we don't know what dangers are lurking. What if it rains heavily..."
Jason shook the compass in his hand: "But if we don't go out to find a way, the ship will sink and we'll be done for."
Captain: "…………" But we don't need a bunch of nobles to find the way! Not a single reliable person on this ship! Especially this first mate!
Regardless of their feelings, whether they were afraid or not, the small boat still set off.
