The place Chi Ruoyi brought Chen Ye to was a place he frequented; the environment was very nice, and the food was delicious.
After ordering, the two were waiting for the waiter to serve their food when a voice that Chi Ruoyi knew all too well suddenly rang out.
"This restaurant is my favorite place to come. I haven't been here for many years, but the decor and furnishings are exactly the same as they were back then."
In that instant, something as sharp as lightning pierced through Chi Ruoyi's body, leaving him almost unable to move.
Chi Ruoyi stiffly raised his head. The woman in front of him made his heart tighten suddenly, and an indescribable feeling spread throughout his body.
Shen Ye noticed Chi Ruoyi's unusual behavior. He slowly turned his head and looked behind him. A man and a woman were walking towards them. The man was a little older, but he still exuded an air of nobility. The woman wore a light pink dress, which made her fair and delicate skin look even more radiant. Her dark, bright eyes were captivating, and her slightly curled black hair was draped lazily over her shoulders.
What a beauty!
Shen Ye admired her in his heart. He had seen all kinds of beauties, some gentle, some wild, but the one in front of him was innocent and lovely. This kind of woman was more likely to make people let their guard down.
The two sat down in a booth not far from Shen Ye, one after the other, and chatted happily, laughing and talking.
The waiter came over to take their order.
"This, this, and this." The woman smiled faintly, pointing at the menu with her long, slender, white fingers.
"Ying'er, your stomach isn't good, you can't eat this." The man's tone was full of doting affection.
"I finally got back, just let me have this once," the woman said, pouting.
"No." The man shook his head.
"Just once, just once, okay?" The woman's delicate hand gently shook the man's arm, her voice so sweet and coquettish that it could make anyone hard.
Men are most vulnerable to a woman's coquettish charm. The man placed his hand on the back of the woman's hand and said, "Okay, just this once. You can't have it next time."
Upon hearing this, the woman smiled happily.
"Ji Ying, what are you doing here? When did you return to China?"
"A few days ago, you were...?"
"My high school deskmate, Zhang Da."
"Ah, I remember."
"And this is...?"
"My fiancé," Ji Ying replied with a polite and elegant smile.
"......"
Ji Ying, a familiar name, an unforgettable name. Even though that face has lost its youthful innocence and been replaced by maturity, the name of this eldest daughter of the Ji family is like a mark etched on Chi Ruoyi's heart, which cannot be erased no matter how much time passes.
Close your eyes, and you can almost hear Ji Ying's words from five years ago: "When I come back, we'll get married, have lots and lots of kids, and do all sorts of romantic things."
Why can't I forget this sentence? Chi Ruoyi shook his head vigorously. No, he didn't want to remember it, nor did he need to.
The girl who used to melt hearts with her smile is now gone. It's as if that smile has slipped through her fingers. Her mature face now only displays an unreal smile. Chi Ruoyi can no longer see the genuine soul in her eyes.
Chi Ruoyi's thoughts suddenly became chaotic. Why did she become like this?
We promised to be together for a very long time, but now?
"Let's go back." Shen Ye knew that Chi Ruoyi must be feeling terrible right now.
