Lian Jingzhi treated Shen Ye like a laborer, making him carry buckets of water from the kitchen to Feiyu Pavilion without allowing anyone to help. If he walked too slowly, the hot water he carried would get cold, so he could only run back and forth between the kitchen and Feiyu Pavilion with the buckets in his arms.
