Jiang Chen cupped Shen Ye's face in his hands, his cool lips pressed against Shen Ye's eye sockets, and then his skin felt the touch of a wet, smooth tongue. The burning pain disappeared instantly, and the nail marks from Tai Shi Lin Bei's fingernails were gone.
"Does it still hurt?" Jiang Chen's tone and eyes were still so gentle.
Shen Ye shook his head, but inadvertently caught a glimpse of the sinister jealousy in Tai Shi Lin Bei's eyes.
Jiang Chen carried Chen Ye to the bed, covered him with the blanket, and smoothed the stray hairs from his forehead, saying softly:
"Take care of yourself from now on, and don't be silly again, do you hear me?"
Shen Ye nodded without saying a word.
"Go to sleep."
Shen Ye closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep, wanting to know what Jiang Chen would say to Tai Shi Lin Bei.
Jiang Chen knew that Shen Ye was faking it, but he didn't expose her. He gave Tai Shi Lin Bei a wink, and the two disappeared from the room.
Shen Ye kept his eyes closed and didn't hear any sound for a long time. He slowly opened his eyes and found that he was the only one left in the room.
He forced a smile. Since his first wife had arrived, Jiang Chen naturally had to take care of her first.
The next morning, Bai Xuan took Shen Ye to see the Taoist priest Huang as promised.
Shen Ye remained silent about what happened yesterday. After thinking about it all night, he decided to go find Jiang Chen, as he needed his spirit.
Master Huang's village is quite far from the city. He went home after helping Bai Xuan last time, so it's not only impossible to drive there, but it also takes several hours to walk there.
By the time we reached the place where we needed to walk, it was already noon. The sun shone with diamond-like light, illuminating this gloomy land.
The sky was a clear, bright blue, but this did not make Shen Ye feel particularly warm. Despite the sun's enthusiastic onslaught, a chill still rose from all around, causing him to shiver involuntarily.
The two walked side by side, their steps quickening as they felt the cold and wanted to get out of this awful place as soon as possible.
She had only taken a few steps when she heard Bai Xuan shout in panic behind her, "Night, your shadow..."
What's wrong with Baek Hyun? What's wrong with my shadow?
Shen Ye quickly turned his head and looked at the ground behind him with a puzzled expression. His heart skipped a beat, as if something had fallen.
Undeterred, he looked at Bai Xuan again, but that one look nearly made him collapse to the ground in fright.
Shen Ye discovered that his shadow had vanished, leaving only Bai Xuan's shadow on the ground.
It was around noon, the sun was blazing, and the relentless rays stretched the shadows of everything in the world to an extremely long length.
Logically speaking, even the darkest night is one of the myriad things in the world. Even if it were illuminated by the sun or a lamp, it would still cast a shadow.
Shen Ye immediately sensed that something was wrong; the constant chill in the air made him feel as if he were in Antarctica.
Seeing this, Bai Xuan panicked and hurriedly asked, "Ye, how come your shadow disappeared?"
He asked Shen Ye, but Shen Ye asked who?
Shen Ye looked completely bewildered, having no idea what was going on.
After thinking it over, Bai Xuan decided to go back the way he came to look for him. Could someone without a shadow still be considered a person?
An ominous premonition struck his brain, causing Shen Ye's psychological defenses to collapse instantly, leaving him feeling utterly deflated.
"Don't be afraid, we'll go back and look, we'll definitely find it." Bai Xuan stepped forward, hugged Shen Ye, and gently patted his back to comfort him.
"No need to look anymore. Let's go find Master Huang first and see if he can get my shadow back," Chen Ye said, looking at the sun in the sky.
If a shadow disappears, can it still be found? Where would you look for it? So he didn't agree with going back to look for it, as that would only waste time.
