He had read all the emails on his computer at night, and they were all from that woman named Li Xintong, so Yan Bai was able to find out that someone had read his unread emails.
Shen Ye thought that perhaps he would be furious if he found out, and would argue with him, blaming him for looking into his privacy, or he might pretend not to know.
About ten minutes later, Yan Bai’s extremely heavy footsteps echoed in the corridor.
He walked in like a gust of wind, calling out to Chen Ye in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft: "Yan Yi!"
Shen Ye didn't respond. He lifted Shen Ye's blanket, assuming he was asleep, and didn't say anything more. Instead, he went to the window, opened it, and started smoking.
The fireworks flickered on and off, and when the lighter went off for the tenth time, he finally climbed into bed and lay down fully clothed.
This time, however, he didn't reach out and pull Shen Ye into his arms; instead, he simply lay down to the side.
The bed was no more than two meters wide, but Shen Ye felt as if there was a vast distance between them. As the night deepened, Shen Ye's heart ached more and more.
In the morning, Chen Ye got up at around six o'clock. After a quick wash, he started preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
When Yan Bai got up, Shen Ye was sitting alone at the dining table eating.
Upon seeing him, Shen Ye greeted him with a smile as if nothing had happened: "Good morning, I made your favorite sandwich. Go wash up and come eat, so you can get ready for work."
When Yan Bai walked over, he kept observing Shen Ye's expression. Only when he found nothing unusual did he look away and say, "Okay."
The two ate breakfast discreetly. Shen Ye ate quickly and early, and by the time Yan Bai sat down, he had already finished eating and then went back to his room to change clothes.
As soon as they entered the bedroom, Yan Bai followed them in. He put his arm around Shen Ye's waist from behind and rested his head on Shen Ye's shoulder: "Baby, are you angry?"
Shen Ye widened her eyes and continued to feign ignorance: "I didn't! Why would I be angry? I was clearly smiling, okay!"
“But your smile is too professional, just like the receptionist nurses at our hospital, without any genuine feeling.”
"Really? I think I've always smiled like that."
He didn't reply, but remained silent for a few seconds. Then he suddenly hugged Shen Ye tightly and asked tentatively, "Wife, have you looked at my computer?"
He couldn't hold back any longer and brought up the topic himself.
Shen Ye decided not to pretend anymore and nodded: "I did see it. I was using your computer for something, and an email came in, so I clicked on it out of curiosity."
His breathing seemed to become a little heavy: "Then why didn't you tell me?"
Shen Ye shrugged, pulled his hand away to change her clothes, and said in a nonchalant tone, "I forgot, my memory isn't very good."
Yan Bai touched Shen Ye's lips with his index finger: "So that's why you're unhappy?"
Shen Ye shrugged: "To be honest, there is a bit. No matter how generous I am, it is hard for me to accept that the man I share a bed with has someone else in his heart, even though our relationship is complicated and can't be shown to others."
Yan Bai affectionately pinched Shen Ye's nose. "Why are you sulking all by yourself? I did like her and wanted to marry her, but that's all in the past. Don't I have you now? Besides, my little darling is so tempting in bed. I'd be crazy to leave you behind."
To be honest, Shen Ye didn't quite believe Yan Bai's words. After all, the two of them had once been in love. They say first love is unforgettable, and Yan Bai should feel the same way.
