Chapter 45 Don't Suppress Me, You Cunning Prince (45)

“You’re overthinking it. I’m a man, and so is he. He’ll have children with his queen someday. And me, perhaps someday… I’ll have a wife too, and I’ll have children with her, and so will you.”

Before Su Yan could speak again, she continued, "I feel a little dizzy and want to sleep a little longer."

After Shen Ye finished speaking, Su Yan remained silent for a long time, simply looking at him before finally smiling and turning to leave.

Lying in bed, looking at the ceiling, I felt incredibly sad.

Does he really like Lian Jingzhi, as Su Yan said?

A gust of cold wind blew in through the window, causing the bed curtains to flutter.

Chen Ye stood by the window, gazing at the swallows perched high on the eaves of a distant house. Seven days had passed, with the sun rising and the moon setting.

Su Yan never came again after that day, and even Jing Zhi never came to see him...

Aside from the servants bringing him meals every day, no one else came. Every time he saw his favorite dishes, he felt a sudden, inexplicable pang of pain in his heart.

I remember the times we ate together, him teaching me to write, his laughter, his anger, his gentleness, everything...

Too many memories that led him to despair...

He had to admit that he was in extreme pain; in his more than twenty years of life, he had never been so heartbroken as he had been in the past few days.

The only person he couldn't let go of here was Yu Rong, the original owner's younger sister. In this land, only Yu Rong was truly kind to him; everyone else approached him with ulterior motives. If he could, he not only wanted to complete the mission as soon as possible, but he also wanted to take Yu Rong with him.

As for Lian Jingzhi, he was not able to embrace him, nor were the laws of this world allowed him to.

He no longer wanted to stay in this world. He wanted to leave, to go somewhere without Lian Jingzhi, and continue to carefree complete missions and resurrect.

A breeze picked up, and Shen Ye pulled her clothes up, closed the window, turned around, and went to bed.

Unsure how long he had slept, in a hazy state, Shen Ye felt a powerful pressure pressing down on him, making it hard to breathe. Opening his eyes, he found someone sitting beside his bed.

Bathed in moonlight, the silver hair shone brightly in the darkness; it belonged to Lian Jingzhi.

For a moment, he was lost in thought and suddenly met Lian Jingzhi's unfathomable eyes. Shen Ye immediately snapped back to reality and sat up in surprise.

"woke up?"

His voice was soft and slightly hoarse.

Shen Ye didn't speak, but nodded slightly.

Silence gripped their breaths, the air heavy as if it would freeze. Shen Ye timidly avoided Lian Jingzhi's eyes; though he so desperately wanted to see him, he couldn't utter a single word.

Are you thirsty? Are you hungry?

Shen Ye tentatively raised his head, only to see a gentle and tender face.

He seemed to have forgotten how he had treated Shen Ye over the past few days, and he also seemed to have forgotten... that Shen Ye could feel pain too.

Shen Ye smiled mockingly, shook his head, then turned and lay down, turning his back to Lian Jingzhi and no longer looking at him.

"Are you still angry with me?" Lian Jingzhi's voice came again, but Shen Ye closed his eyes and pretended not to hear it.

Lian Jingzhi didn't speak again. After a long while, he sighed softly, then lay down next to Shen Ye and hugged Shen Ye's waist from behind.

Shen Ye did not resist, keeping her eyes closed as she listened to his breathing gradually become calmer...

This was the fourth time they had shared a bed, and this time, Shen Ye felt a complex mix of emotions that were hard to describe.
