At night, whether it was because no one was there or because the palace was too big, the entire Lizheng Hall was eerily quiet. The autumn wind blew across the roof, making a 'whooshing' sound like the wailing of ghosts and wolves.
When Gu Qimu's imperial carriage passed the Lizheng Hall, it paused for a moment, as if waiting for him to decide whether or not to enter the hall.
"Hey, isn't this His Majesty? What a coincidence." Shen Ye, who had just returned from outside, bumped into Gu Qimu's imperial procession, bowed, and said in a sarcastic tone.
"Hmm, I'm just passing by," Gu Qimu replied casually. "Little Li, prepare the carriage for the Ganluan Palace."
Gu Qimu is a typical hypocrite. He appears indifferent on the surface, but in reality, he's thinking, "Hurry up and call me back, or I'm really leaving."
"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, what's wrong?" Qiu Ci's anxious voice came from behind. Gu Qimu's heart tightened, and before the sedan chair had even come to a complete stop, he jumped down and rushed straight to Shen Ye's side.
"Summon Imperial Physician!" Gu Qimu shouted, picking up Shen Ye and walking into the Lizheng Hall.
When Eunuch Li tried to go in, Qiu Ci stopped him and stood guard at the door, preventing anyone from going in to serve him.
The two of them were left alone in the huge room. Shen Ye stopped pretending and opened his eyes, grabbing Gu Qimu's neck. Gu Qimu, caught off guard, fell into Shen Ye's arms.
The moment their eyes met, Gu Qimu froze. He felt his heart racing and his whole body becoming restless and hot.
The air was quiet, and the previously chaotic footsteps suddenly fell silent.
The surroundings were as quiet as they had been just moments before, and the heartbeat I had felt just an illusion.
Suddenly everything went black, and his lips felt wet. Gu Qimu lowered his head and kissed Shen Ye's cherry-like, alluring red lips.
His kisses were like that—sweet and soft, so captivating that one lingered, became addicted, and could not extricate oneself from them.
After the kiss, Gu Qimu leaned over Shen Ye, looking down at him. In the candlelight, Gu Qimu's long eyelashes were drawn out, reflecting on his handsome face.
"You actually lied to me." It was clearly a reprimand, but when Gu Qimu said it, it was filled with endless doting affection.
"How could he turn back without lying to the Emperor?" Shen Ye wrapped her arms around Gu Qimu's neck and pecked him on the lips again.
Gu Qimu got up from Shen Ye, straightened his clothes, and snorted coldly, "I only turned back because I was afraid you would die. After all, you are the mother of the nation, not because I was worried about you."
"Then I won't die now, Your Majesty, will you still leave?" Shen Ye hugged Gu Qimu's waist from behind, pressed her face against his back, and spoke in a voice that was as sweet as could be.
Gu Qimu remained silent, but Shen Ye persisted, continuing to plead, "Your Majesty..."
"Hmph!" Gu Qimu still ignored Shen Ye.
"emperor......"
Gu Qimu had no choice but to turn around and look at Shen Ye with a gentle yet slightly arrogant gaze, "So, do you still want to run away with some other man?"
"I don't want to." Shen Ye shook his head desperately; he had never thought of it that way.
"Then Gu Qichen?"
"That bastard Gu Qichen isn't even worth a finger of the Emperor's. I wouldn't even look at him!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Gu Qimu pressed Shen Ye down on the bed like a lion hunting its prey, tearing at his white neck like a captive beast.
"hiss......"
Shen Ye suddenly gasped, his forehead covered in a thin layer of sweat from the pain. His face, slightly contorted with agony, made Gu Qimu's heart tighten.
"What's wrong? Did I hurt you?"
