"Brother Ci."
Song Gufeng called out to him softly, and Yi Ci replied impatiently, "What do you want now?"
"Never mind, you go to sleep. I'll keep watch for you."
This statement is utter nonsense. As long as Yi Ci doesn't cause trouble in class, teachers generally won't interfere with what he does.
"You'd better be quiet."
Yi Ci played games all night yesterday and didn't sleep at all, so he's in a very irritable mood now. Seeing Lin Xi's face, which looks similar to his ex, makes him even more irritable.
"Okay, Brother Ci, I'll shut up."
Song Gufeng stopped bothering him, took out a band-aid from the drawer, and handed it to Lin Xi when Yi Ci wasn't looking.
"for you."
"Thank you." Lin Xi accepted it and thanked him politely, a warm feeling passing through her heart. There are more bad people than bad people in the world.
"It's nothing." Song Gufeng scratched his head, smiled, and turned back.
Witnessing all this, Shen Muqing felt a surge of nameless anger. How dare these high school students bully others so blatantly? She had received malicious glances when she first arrived, but perhaps they were wary of her, knowing that she was chauffeured around in luxury cars every day, so they didn't bother her much.
She clenched her fists. How dare they bully her baby girl? Very well, they're doomed.
At lunchtime, Song Gufeng ran over excitedly, "Qingqing, let's go eat."
Shen Muqing first looked at Lin Xi's seat and found that she was still sitting there, immersed in her studies even after class. Shen Muqing admired those who were good at studying the most.
"Wait, I probably won't be able to treat you to lunch. How about tomorrow?"
"Sure, I'm available anytime."
Song Gufeng grinned foolishly, flashing a set of big white teeth, which was inexplicably funny.
"Qingqing, what are you having for lunch? Aren't you going to eat?"
"I'm not eating lunch."
"That won't do, I'll go buy it for you."
"No numbness..." Shen Muqing said halfway through her sentence, but Song Gufeng had already dashed out and disappeared from the classroom.
Xie Siyan, standing to the side, breathed a sigh of relief for some reason, but he was still not very happy. Shen Muqing hadn't spoken to him much since morning. Before, she often rambled on, and Xie Siyan didn't pay much attention to her, but Shen Muqing kept talking to herself. In fact, Xie Siyan was listening to every word she said.
For example, she complained that the math problems were too difficult and that she couldn't solve any of them.
For example, she ate delicious sweet and sour pork ribs on the fourth floor of the cafeteria yesterday, and she said she wants to eat them again today.
For example, she overslept the day before yesterday and almost missed her appointment.
He listened to every word Shen Muqing said, but he didn't respond much because he felt he wasn't good enough for the sunny young lady; that warm little sun didn't belong to him.
Whenever Xie Siyan saw her chatting and laughing with others, he would suppress the terrifying emotions in his heart and could only pretend to be even more indifferent when facing Shen Muqing.
Shen Muqing walked up to Lin Xi with a sweet smile, "Hello, Lin Xi, I'm Shen Muqing, nice to meet you."
She introduced herself warmly and extended her hand, hoping to shake hands with her.
Lin Xi was a little surprised, not expecting anyone to want to get to know her. She put down her pen, stood up with a slight panic, and awkwardly introduced herself.
"Hello, I'm Lin Xi, nice to meet you too."
"Don't move, sit down. You still have injuries on your legs." Shen Muqing stopped her, helped her sit down, and looked at the bloodstains on her legs, the wounds stuck to her socks, and felt a pang of heartache in her eyes.
"I'll take you to the infirmary."
"No need, no need to trouble your classmate Chen. I'll take care of it when I get home after school this afternoon."
Lin Xi shook her head. She had shoulder-length short hair and a thin layer of bangs on her forehead. When she didn't speak, she gave people a sense of distance, but now Shen Muqing just thought she was so cute and wanted to touch her.
"No trouble at all, let's go, I'll help you."
"Thank you."
"fine."
The two disappeared from the classroom, leaving Xie Siyan alone. He put down his pen, picked up his meal card, and walked out of the classroom.
In the infirmary, the doctor was disinfecting Lin Xi. "Why didn't you come sooner? Now the wound is stuck to the sock. I need to cut it open. It might hurt a bit, but please bear with it."
The doctor patiently explained and comforted Lin Xi, saying, "I'll try to be as gentle as possible, classmate."
"Thank you, sister." Lin Xi sat on the bed, deeply moved by the doctor's patience and Shen Muqing's kindness. This was one of the few times she had received such care; usually, only one person cared about her—her mother.
"And thank you, Chen."
Shen Muqing held her hand, "If it hurts, just hold on to me."
Xie Siyan felt very uncomfortable in the cafeteria. He didn't like going to crowded places. He usually ate whatever was available. He had a small appetite and wasn't picky. He would eat whatever was offered and didn't eat expensive food.
This was his first time on the fourth floor. He groped his way to the window, and his eyes lit up when he saw the sweet and sour pork ribs.
"I'd like two of these, to go, thank you, Auntie."
The auntie serving the food noticed that Xie Siyan was too thin and said a lot, "Is he big enough for the child? How can he be so thin? Auntie will give you more."
"Thank you, Auntie."
Xie Siyan swiped his meal card. Even though this meal cost more than ten times his usual amount, he paid the bill without blinking, just thinking about Shen Muqing's expression when he saw this sweet and sour pork ribs later.
A smile unconsciously appeared on his face as he walked briskly downstairs, grabbing a quick bite to eat on the first floor.
Half an hour later, Shen Muqing helped Lin Xi back to the classroom. When she saw that her desk was piled with several meals and Song Gufeng was sitting in front of her with a smile, she understood what had happened.
"Qingqing, I don't know what you like to eat, so I just bought a few things. Take a look and see which one you like."
"Thank you, Gu Feng. I can't finish all of this by myself, and Lin hasn't eaten yet either."
"Let's eat together."
Shen Muqing picked out two portions, giving one to Lin Xi and keeping one for herself. There were two portions left; Song Gufeng took one, and he had one last one in his hand.
"Academic genius, do you want some?"
Xie Siyan also returned from the cafeteria. Just as he was about to place the sweet and sour pork ribs on Shen Muqing's table, Song Gufeng came in, so he hid in his own table.
He shook his head, refusing Song Gufeng's offer.
"Okay, then I'll eat two portions myself."
Shen Muqing sat down, opened the package, and found the food inside unappetizing, as it wasn't her favorite dish. She picked at the rice with her chopsticks, looking like she had no appetite.
Song Gufeng, engrossed in his work, was completely unaware of Shen Muqing's unusual behavior. Lin Xi, however, did notice, "Would you like to try my dish, Shen Muqing?"
"No need, you eat it."
At that moment, Shen Muqing felt warmth coming from beside his arm and realized that Xie Siyan had handed him a box without him noticing. Without turning his head, he used a cold voice to cover up his inner panic.
"I ordered too much at noon and can't finish it, here you go."
"Oh, thank you."
Shen Muqing took it, and when she opened it, she was surprised to find the sweet and sour pork ribs she had been longing for. Her eyes lit up, and she thanked him again, this time with genuine gratitude, "Thank you, Xie Siyan, you are such a kind person."
Now Shen Muqing had an appetite.
Xie Siyan's previously downcast mood brightened, and his pursed lips curved slightly upward. His name sounded beautiful coming from Shen Muqing's mouth, and he wanted to hear it more.
