"good."
Shen Muqing sat on the bamboo chair. She could feel the fragrance of bamboo filling the room, and the house must be a bamboo house. Combined with the tactile sensation under her hands, she became even more certain of this.
The ground creaked underfoot as Lan Jin went in and out.
Sitting here feels like returning to nature, quiet and relaxing, as if the whole person is being purified, with something warm and cool gently swirling around my hands.
"Silver, is this your home?"
Silver hissed twice in response to her question, then quickly climbed off her body onto the table, its tail sweeping over a cup.
"hiss."
Shen Muqing's hand, which was resting on the table, touched the cold porcelain. She picked it up and drank it all in one gulp. This was the water that Lan Jin had just poured for her, but she hadn't drunk it yet.
"Thank you for the money." Shen Muqing stroked the snake's head. This snake was so smart, it was like a person. It seemed to understand human speech and could respond to anything you said.
As night fell, Shen Muqing took a bath as usual, then took the clothes that Lan Jin had prepared and put them on.
She was unfamiliar with the unfamiliar environment and walked tentatively, her hands groping in the air.
"Qingqing, you'll sleep in this room tonight." Lan Jin saw her come out from behind the screen and led her to the bed. "The blankets are all new."
"Okay, thank you, brother."
Shen Muqing sat obediently on the bed, looking completely submissive. Especially since the girl had just bathed, she exuded a faint fragrance that occasionally drifted into Lan Jin's nose.
Like a silent seduction, Lan Jin kept a certain string in her mind taut.
There's no need for thanks between us.
Lan Jin helped her dry her wet hair, her hot breath blowing behind Shen Muqing's ear, and Lan Jin's warm hand occasionally brushing against her back.
"Okay, that's enough. Let's go to sleep."
A series of footsteps approached Shen Muqing's ears, then faded into the distance and disappeared outside the door.
Shen Muqing climbed into bed on her own and covered herself with the quilt. The quilt was of very good quality, smooth and comfortable. Shen Muqing held it to her nose and sniffed it. Sure enough, it smelled exactly the same as Lan Jin's.
She unconsciously took a couple more breaths; the smell was really nice.
Surrounded by Lan Jin's scent, Shen Muqing gradually fell asleep.
Not long after, the space beside Shen Muqing sank a degree, damp and cold. Shen Muqing, who was sleeping lightly, was awakened and turned over to face the space.
The scent of Lan Jin was even stronger in my nose, as if he were right beside me.
"elder brother?"
"I am here."
"Huh? You..." Shen Muqing raised his hand and touched something warm. He reached out and grabbed it. He... he wasn't dressed properly.
Lan Jin groaned as she was being pinched. "Qingqing, not yet."
"What's wrong?"
Without thinking, Shen Muqing asked, "Shouldn't she be sleeping alone? Didn't he just leave? Why is he back?"
Lan Jin put her arm around Shen Muqing and said, "You'll find out later."
"Brother, you..." Shen Muqing ultimately didn't ask, after all, this was his home, and he could sleep wherever he wanted. "Never mind, let's go to sleep."
After traveling all day, she was exhausted and stopped thinking about anything, falling asleep with her head on Lan Jin's shoulder.
The two had long since crossed the line of normal siblings.
Early in the morning, Lan Jin woke up Shen Muqing, "Qingqing, get up. Today we're going to see Granny Li to check your eyes."
"Hmm~"
He pulled Shen Muqing, who was sleeping soundly, out of the covers and began to dress her.
Shen Muqing's eyes were half-closed and she was drowsy all the way to the exit. She hadn't expected Lan Jin's bed to be so comfortable. She had slept very well last night.
"Brother, who is Granny Li?"
“The old woman who treats patients in the village is the most skilled doctor in our village. She might be able to cure your eyes.”
"Really? Brother! You think my eyes can be cured?"
Seeing her excited expression, Lan Jin didn't give a definite answer, afraid that she would be sad if the condition couldn't be cured. "We'll have to let Granny Li see for ourselves."
"Oh, I see. I've been blind since I was a child. I wish my eyes could be cured."
Heaven knows how fed up with the darkness before her eyes, how she needed help getting dressed. If only her eyesight could be restored, she would want to see Lan Jin; he must be very handsome.
