Ji Yan withdrew his gentle gaze, his expression turning sharp and disdainful as he looked down at the old man squatting on the ground. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "So it was you who hurt my baby?"
His aura was terrifying. When Old Man An met his gaze, his heart trembled violently. "It wasn't me..."
As if remembering something, she pointed at Brother Liu and said, "He ordered us to do it, he threatened us to do it, we are innocent."
He knelt on the ground, kowtowing heavily, trying to beg Ji Yan to let him go. "I know I was wrong, please forgive me, you are a magnanimous person."
A fierce glint flashed in Brother Liu's eyes as he coldly stared at Old Man An's repulsive appearance.
"You bitch, if you hadn't called to say you had the goods, why would I have come? And you dare to talk nonsense here, I think you're tired of living."
Ji Yan stood in front of Old Man An, wearing expensive sneakers, and stomped on his back repeatedly until Old Man An couldn't take it and collapsed to the ground.
All he could hear was the devilish whisper of the man in front of him, "I can only let one of you go; the rest are up to you."
As soon as Ji Yan finished speaking, the bodyguards accompanying him drew out a sturdy short knife and threw it in front of them.
Terrified, Old Man An crawled on his knees to grab the dagger, then stood up tremblingly, asking, "Is what you're saying true?"
Ji Yan smiled slightly. "Of course."
"You idiot, have you never been to school? Murder is a crime, don't listen to his attempts to sow discord!" Brother Liu shouted, angrily cursing Old Man An for being out of his mind.
But now Old Man An is too scared. He doesn't want to go to jail. As long as there is a glimmer of hope, he will take a gamble. What if he succeeds?
With this idea in mind, Old Man An immediately took action. The others were already sore from being beaten and had no power to fight back, so Old Man An locked his eyes on Brother Liu.
"Brother Liu, please have mercy and save me. I will remember your kindness and offer incense to you every year."
As he spoke, Old Man An, trembling, raised his knife and charged at Brother Liu. Brother Liu, shaking, crawled backward. "Old Man An, are you crazy? Do you believe him or do you believe I'm a billionaire?"
At this point, Old Man An was no longer listening to him; his survival instinct compelled him to do this.
He sheathed his knife and began stabbing Liu Ge repeatedly, turning him into a beehive. The bloodthirsty old man, An, brandished his knife wildly.
Having achieved his goal, Ji Yan gave the bodyguard a cold wink, and the bodyguard nodded.
Soon, Old Man An was subdued. He was shouting incoherently, "I've done what you said. You can't go back on your word. You have to let me go."
Ji Yan raised an eyebrow slightly, his cold, deep eyes narrowed slightly, a clear smile playing on his lips, his voice teasing him with amusement.
"I only let you go after I told you only one of you could live."
Realizing what had happened, Old Man An's forehead veins bulged, his eyeballs almost popped out, and he roared, "You tricked me?"
Doesn't he know that city people are full of tricks?
The police arrived quickly, along with an ambulance. An Ning and Ye Chuqing got into the ambulance, while Shen Muqing stayed behind to handle the situation.
Once everything settled down, the taut string in Shen Muqing's mind snapped, and his body fell like a kite with a broken string, only to be caught by Ji Yan with lightning speed.
The next day, Shen Muqing slowly opened her eyes while lying in the hospital bed. What came into view was Ji Yan's thick black hair. He was sitting in a chair, holding her right hand tightly with one hand, intertwining the strands one by one.
Shen Muqing's heart melted completely. She raised her other hand to stroke his hair, feeling so fortunate to have met him.
Sensing movement above him, Ji Yan slowly raised his head and found Shen Muqing looking at him with loving eyes. At this moment, he wished time could stand still forever.
"Baby~"
Ji Yan let out a wronged sound, thinking that if he hadn't arrived in time, he might not have been able to see his baby.
Having regained what he had lost, he clung tightly to Shen Muqing, holding her so tightly she could hardly breathe. Shen Muqing didn't push him away; instead, she hugged him just as tightly.
The two hugged for a long time, and only reluctantly let go when the doctor knocked on the door.
A doctor in a white coat walked in and said, "The patient is fine and can be discharged today."
Shen Muqing: "How are the two patients who came with me?"
"One person suffered from severe anemia and malnutrition, and the external injuries were quite serious, but they were brought in in time and are now fine."
"The other person was frightened, but is fine and can be discharged today."
After completing the routine procedures, the doctor pushed open the door and left.
Shen Muqing put on her shoes and got out of bed. "I have to go see Anning."
“Baby, I’ve been looking for you for so long and you don’t care about me at all.”
"How could that be? You stay here and wait for me, okay?" She said, giving him a comforting kiss. "I'll be back soon."
The woman left him without a second thought, opening the door and going out.
Unaware that the man behind her was growing increasingly irritated, his eyes darkening until they became frantic.
At this moment, he had only one thought: to tie Qingqing up and take her back so that she could only see him, but that would scare her, so he couldn't rush it and had to take it slowly.
This perverse idea quickly took hold in the man's mind, and he was in grave danger.
In the next ward, Ye Chuqing was by An Ning's side early in the morning, and Shen Muqing went in to ask the two of them in detail if they had any discomfort.
An Ning's peach blossom eyes stared straight at her, filled with so many emotions that they were about to overflow.
Ultimately, it all boils down to one sentence: "Thank you."
"Oh, aren't we friends? There's no need for thanks between friends."
Ye Chuqing spoke in a quirky and mischievous manner, making the other two people in the room burst into laughter.
It eventually turned into lighthearted laughter. She was completely bewildered. "What are you laughing at? Is it that funny?"
"You're so cute." Shen Muqing's narrowed eyes showed just how good she was.
In this relaxed atmosphere, An Ning stopped sternly and smiled brightly, making even the flowers pale in comparison.
Ye Chuqing was stunned. It was the first time she had ever seen An Ning smile so unrestrainedly and genuinely. She felt as if she were seeing a fairy.
"An Ning, you should smile more. You look so damn beautiful when you smile."
"Really?" An Ning's voice was no longer as cold as before; she now had the demeanor of a twenty-year-old girl.
"Yes, you should smile more."
Shen Muqing chimed in, saying that An Ning now seemed like a living person.
The person in question happened to be there, so Shen Muqing cleared her throat and decided to tell everyone about the plan she was going to implement.
“Actually, I’ve been in contact with Lu Ze privately for the past few months.”
Upon hearing this, An Ning's expression changed drastically, and her smile froze on her face. "You like him?"
Shen Muqing quickly explained to clear himself of any wrongdoing.
"How could that be? I'm doing this to clear your name."
“My plan is this: someone like him will definitely do it again if he does it once. So I will use myself as bait to lure him, record evidence of his crime, and then report him.”
Ye Chuqing stared at her with her mouth agape, "Qingqing, I haven't seen you for a month, and you've been quietly accomplishing something amazing? You're so awesome!"
An Ning sat on the bed, her butterfly-like eyelashes covering her eyes, making it impossible to discern her emotions.
"Anning? Are you angry?" Shen Muqing asked cautiously. If Anning still liked Lu Ze, then what he was doing was indeed wrong.
"No, I just..." An Ning's soft sobs rang out, and a large tear fell onto the white bed sheet, staining it deeply.
Shen Muqing was at a loss. It was the first time a girl had cried in front of her, and she didn't know how to comfort her. She could only quietly wait for her to finish venting her emotions.
Ye Chuqing simply held her hand gently, telling her that she was no longer alone.
"I'm sorry, I lost control a bit." An Ning wiped away her tears and apologized with a slight sob in her voice.
