Finally, Gao Shen was taken away amidst shouts. Pan Yang nodded in satisfaction and glanced at the assembled ministers: "Everyone has seen Gao Shen's fate. Today, I have something to say."
As he spoke, Pan Yang tossed Xiao Yao back and walked to Zhou Yang's side: "I hereby appoint Zhou Yang as the Ninth Prince, to manage the affairs of the court. I believe no one has any objections?"
Now Zhou Yang's actions went from being unreasonable to being perfectly legitimate. The ministers looked at each other, realizing that they couldn't defeat the emperor anyway, and that Zhou Yang was indeed quite capable.
"Your Majesty is wise!" one person exclaimed, and the rest echoed his sentiments.
After the palace banquet ended, only Pan Yang, Zhou Yang, and Tao Xin remained, who had been standing there the whole time.
Silence fell all around. Just as Tao Xin was hesitating whether to ask Pan Yang to leave, Zhou Yang spoke up.
"Isn't Your Majesty afraid that I will rebel?" Zhou Yang looked at him, his tone filled with doubt.
"You're plotting a rebellion?" To everyone's surprise, Pan Yang's eyes lit up, as if this was a great thing: "Sure, rebellion is too troublesome. Let's pick an auspicious day and just give you the throne."
"..." Zhou Yang fell silent, took a deep breath, and asked with a serious tone, "Does Your Majesty truly love me?"
"Really." Pan Yang answered without hesitation.
"I am just a eunuch, not a woman," Zhou Yang said, each word distinct, his hands clenched tightly beneath his sleeves.
"Oh, so what?" Huan Yang felt that these words were a bit inexplicable, what was with all this talk about eunuchs and women: "As long as it's you, isn't that enough?"
Zhou Yang was incredulous when he heard this. Looking into Pan Yang's eyes, he saw no hint of a joke, so Pan Yang was serious.
He opened his mouth, his thin lips barely moving as he uttered, "If I were to tell His Majesty..." He stopped abruptly halfway through his sentence.
This almost made Pan Yang choke, his brows furrowing slightly: "Tell me what?"
"Your Majesty should rest early." After saying this, Zhou Yang got up and left without waiting for him to speak.
This left Pan Yang completely bewildered; what was going on?
Seeing this, Tao Xin felt uneasy. She took a deep breath and said, "Perhaps His Highness just doesn't believe that His Majesty would like him. Your Majesty, please don't be angry. Your Majesty is so capable, you can definitely win over His Highness!"
Listening to Tao Xin's words, Pan Yang nodded silently. That's right, with his looks and abilities, it's impossible for Zhou Yang not to like him.
After that, Pan Yang followed Zhou Yang again at various strange times, but he followed with a serious and expressionless face, as if he were doing something of great importance.
Zhou Yang couldn't stand being followed around anymore, and after much persuasion, he managed to get Huan Yang to stop following him for the time being. He sat in the pavilion, looking at the pond not far away.
My thoughts drifted away, which was really strange. When I couldn't see Huan Yang, I kept thinking about that person. I was really bewitched.
He looked at the bracelet on his wrist. It was very ordinary, except that the red bead in the middle was exceptionally dazzling, but it had a strange sense of familiarity.
"Your Majesty! Something terrible has happened! His Majesty is in trouble!" Tao Xin rushed over from a distance, shouting as she ran.
Zhou Yang stood up from his chair: "Where is His Majesty?"
"The bedroom." Before she could finish speaking, Zhou Yang walked right past her.
Seeing this, Tao Xin quickly followed up: "Someone gave His Majesty something to drink while I was away, and His Majesty thought it was sent by His Highness."
"Where is that person?" Zhou Yang frowned.
"That man was killed by His Majesty with a single sword strike. After that, His Majesty dismissed everyone and prepared cool water for me to call His Highness over."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yang paused in his steps.
Tao Xin looked somewhat bewildered, glancing at the palace not far away before turning to Zhou Yang: "My lord?"
Zhou Yang was silent for a moment, while Tao Xin was so anxious that she almost couldn't stand up.
He took a deep breath: "Call a few clean ones..."
"What?" Tao Xin didn't quite understand Zhou Yang's meaning, and bit her lip: "His Majesty only allowed His Highness to enter."
Zhou Yang looked at the closed palace and finally sighed: "It's nothing. No one is allowed to approach without my order." With that, he walked towards the palace.
"Yes!" Tao Xin breathed a sigh of relief. She watched Zhou Yang enter the palace and close the door. After thinking for a moment, she went to find the imperial physician. Although His Majesty had not given any instructions, she couldn't help but worry that there might be other problems with the person who administered the medicine.
As Tao Xin watched the sun gradually descend, she was almost falling asleep when the door to her bedchamber was finally opened.
She immediately stood up and looked at the person who opened the door. The door was only slightly ajar, and she could only see less than half of Zhou Yang's body. His hair was loose, and his clothes were hanging lightly on his shoulders. There seemed to be a few bite marks on his neck.
Tao Xin hurriedly lowered her head: "How is Your Majesty?"
"Have someone prepare fresh water, and have the imperial physician come in half an hour later." Zhou Yang's voice was somewhat hoarse.
"Yes," Peach Heart replied, and then the door was closed again.
Zhou Yang looked at the person on the bed, gritted his teeth and walked over. Pan Yang's eyes were clear, and he casually put his arm around him: "Is this what you wanted to tell me before?"
“Yes.” Zhou Yang glanced at him, and seeing that Pan Yang was not angry, he continued, “I was born to a palace maid and a guard. I was abandoned shortly after birth and picked up by an old eunuch, so… I was not castrated.” His voice gradually softened as he spoke.
"Oh." Pan Yang was completely indifferent, lying on Zhou Yang with his eyes half-closed: "I don't care about any of these things, whether it's power or anything else, as long as it's you."
Half an hour later, under Zhou Yang's gaze, the imperial physician tremblingly took Huan Yang's pulse. After a long while, he slowly said, "Your Majesty's health is fine; you are in good health."
"Step down," Zhou Yang said slowly.
The imperial physician stepped back a few paces, bowed, and turned to leave. It was truly terrible; His Highness's gaze was practically killing him.
Pan Yang yawned, propped his head up, and said, "See, there's no problem. Peach Heart, it's getting late, go and have someone bring dinner."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Tao Xin breathed a sigh of relief and walked towards the Imperial Kitchen with renewed spirits.
Zhou Yang sighed and sat down next to Pan Yang: "Your Majesty should be careful in the future."
“It was just an accident,” Pan Yang said immediately, his tone firm. “Trust me.”
001, who knows the whole truth, chooses to remain silent. Believe you? Ha! You clearly knew there was something wrong with that tea and you still drank it!
Of course, it's a good system, so how could it possibly insult its host?
Pan Yang sneezed and rubbed his nose. It was really strange; it must be that bastard 001 talking badly about him behind his back.
"Has Your Majesty caught a cold?"
"No..." Pan Yang started to speak but suddenly changed the subject: "You caught a cold, you'll be fine tonight..."
"There are still memorials I haven't finished reading."
"Tsk." What bad luck!
