Chapter 485 The Might of the Supreme God 40

The words had barely left his mouth.

The bustling market suddenly turned pitch black, the sun vanished from the sky, and only the blazing fire shone with an unusually strong, pale blue glow in the darkness.

The entire market town had become a giant execution ground, with the sounds of whipping, wailing, screams, and the sizzling of flesh being burned constantly reaching our ears.

Linghu Lan's forehead was covered in cold sweat; it really was a ghost story.

"Why don't you eat?" a low voice whispered in her ear. "Your sins will end once you eat them."

"I don't eat human flesh." Feeling the breath on her body become heavier, Linghu Lan's hair stood on end.

"Heh heh! How do you know there's human flesh in there?"

"It's not hard to guess. The fire of ignorance only burns sins. That bowl of soup contains their sins. If I drink it, wouldn't I be acknowledging those sins? That female ghost came to stop me from drinking the soup again. I guess there's still her original body in the soup? She'd rather suffer the torment of the fire of karma than be eaten by me. She's probably afraid that if I eat her, she won't be able to reincarnate."

"Hahaha! You guessed wrong!" The voice laughed again. "If you guessed right, why hasn't this place changed? Why are you still trapped in this ghost market? You wait and join us!"

"What you said makes a lot of sense." Linghu Lan fumbled around for a moment, picked up something, took a bite, and laughed, "I bet I haven't finished the game because I haven't eaten this yet!"

The moment the food was swallowed, the entire ghost market was illuminated as brightly as day. The ghosts in the ghost market stared at Linghu Lan with expressionless, eerie eyes, their expressions sinister, as if they had been humiliated.

Linghu Lan swallowed hard: "..."

Holy crap! That's terrifying!

She turned around, and behind her stood the divine being who had just captured the ghost. At this moment, the divine being had a large hole in his chest and was looking at her in disbelief.

Linghu Lan waved the white cake in her hand, quite pleased with herself. "I guessed right! This is probably the only edible thing here, isn't it?"

How did you know?

"Because you ignored me, while they all rushed to me. The vendor kept urging me to drink the soup, but didn't care whether I ate the pancake or not. Something's definitely fishy about this."

The genius: "..." Is ignoring it a mistake?

The divine being withered away at a visible speed, eventually transforming into a ginseng root and flying into the white cake in Linghu Lan's hand.

I've heard that ginseng can run away and even perform supernatural tricks.

Wow, my ginseng is amazing!

Linghu Lan let out a long sigh of relief. When she looked up again, the entire market had disappeared. What she had just seen seemed like a dream. She quickly ate the white cake, and her hungry stomach finally felt a little better.

A square platform slowly rose from the ground and stood before her; in this open space, this was the only path she could take.

Linghu Lan thought for a moment and then climbed onto the high platform. She wanted to pass the level quickly, go home and hug her husband. She had had enough of this godforsaken place.

Soon, the teleportation light rose, and a white light flashed.

Linghu Lan, feeling dizzy and disoriented, fell to the ground beneath a tree. Before she could even look around, she heard a clear voice shout, "Who are you? Who gave you permission to stand under the Tree of Immortality?"

The Tree of Immortality?

Linghu Lan was stunned.

She looked up and saw a tree trunk that stretched straight up to the blue sky, its height immeasurable. She could only see some white, fluffy fruits hanging on the tree, which looked exceptionally delicious.

The thought of food made her stomach rumble again, and this time it was unusually loud; a single white pancake couldn't satisfy her enormous stomach.

The boy was furious. "I knew you wanted to steal the fruit! None of you monsters are any good!" As he spoke, a fork in his hand suddenly grew larger, and he threw it at Linghu Lan.

Linghu Lan rolled away on the spot.
