She found a pearl necklace and tossed it to the captain. "Is this enough?"
The captain's eyes lit up. "Enough, enough!"
He recognized it at a glance as an extremely precious necklace, one bead of which was enough to buy an entire ship.
He quickly stuffed the pearls into his pocket, then turned and called to the boatman, "Get up, let's set sail, buddy!"
He courteously led Linghu Lan to the best bedroom on the ship, and said with a humble smile, "Don't worry, I guarantee I will definitely take you to find Prince Chiyan. You can be as close as you want!"
"..."
"No matter how close, it's fine."
Is this implying that bride kidnapping is acceptable?
Linghu Lan glanced at him silently: What happened to your integrity when you swore to defend the prince to the death? You bought it all with just a necklace?
The ship sailed into the silent yet turbulent sea. On the dark surface, distant objects appeared as grotesque black shadows, and the sea breeze carried a sorrowful atmosphere.
Linghu Lan knew that this was the day the Little Mermaid would die.
In fairy tales, the Little Mermaid turns into sea foam when the first rays of sunlight shine on the ship.
She refused the dagger her sisters had traded their hair for from the witch, refusing to plunge it into the prince's heart, and unwilling to let the prince's blood flow onto her. She gave up her three hundred years of life, giving her beloved and his bride a blessed kiss, and willingly turned into sea foam.
Linghu Lan stood on the deck, a slight pain spreading through her heart.
The ship sailed all night. The captain noticed Linghu Lan's anxiety and advised, "That's how it is at sea. It took the prince's ship two whole days to reach the princess's country in the neighboring country."
"Um!"
The sky grew even darker.
This is the darkness before dawn.
The wind carried a beautiful song.
The captain exclaimed in surprise, "That must be the mermaid's song! We must plug our ears quickly, or the mermaid will take us to the deep sea abyss. My crew will not be able to resist the magic of this sound. Ah! Come in quickly, you need to plug your ears too."
"No, I don't need it!"
Sensing the firmness in Linghu Lan's voice, the captain glanced at her in surprise and hurriedly urged the other crew members to plug their ears.
Linghu Lan stared intently at the direction from which the singing came from the darkness. At this moment, the moonlight gradually faded, and the sea was pitch black, with a huge shadow in particular.
Linghu Lan's heart pounded wildly. That must be the Crimson Flame Prince's ship. The singing was the Little Mermaid's sister bringing her a dagger, urging her to quickly plunge the knife into the prince's chest.
As the ship drew closer, Linghu Lan could vaguely see some bulges on the sea surface; those were the Little Mermaid's older sister rolling in the waves, cheering on her younger sister.
As Linghu Lan drew closer, she saw the little mermaid sitting at the bow of the boat, her long golden hair dancing in the wind, making her appear so gentle.
It's almost dawn.
As the two ships drew closer, Linghu Lan saw the little mermaid enter the cabin, and the dagger in her hand even occasionally flashed with a glint of light.
When the ships came together, Linghu Lan couldn't wait to jump onto Prince Chiyan's ship, but was bounced back onto her own ship by a huge force.
"Ah! What just happened?" The captain, who had witnessed the scene, stared at Linghu Lan in disbelief.
A strange feeling swept through Linghu Lan's heart.
What does it mean that she was bounced back?
Is the Crimson Flame Prince's ship under a spell? Is it up to the parties involved to decide all of this? Can no one else interfere?
