The witch remained silent, and Linghu Lan continued, "In fairy tales, the Princess and the Pea lived happily ever after with the prince. However, these are dark fairy tales. So, the truth is that the Princess and the Pea were abused by the prince and did not enjoy the treatment of a princess. Therefore, after she escaped, she developed the desire to become the most beautiful woman in the world and a true queen, isn't that right?"
"So what if what you say is true? I did all this for you." The sea witch's face twisted in rage.
Linghu Lan smiled. "I suppose it's for the sake of Princess Pea. Without you, she probably wouldn't have been able to escape the castle alive, nor would she have been able to take the magic book with her. Was this your idea?"
The sea witch ignored the fact that Linghu Lan hadn't directly addressed her, but instead spoke of the Princess and the Pea's strangeness. She was eager to express her feelings and stop Linghu Lan from 'committing suicide.' "That's right, if you still remember my contributions, you shouldn't 'commit suicide,' you foolish, ungrateful wretch! Have you forgotten how I helped you kill the prince who tried to rape you in the dark basement? And then turned the king and queen into puppets, burning them to ashes? If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been able to secretly see that magic book, let alone open its contents and gain power. Now you want to be ungrateful? Listen to me, you can't lose me. Look how terrible you are without me! I can assure you, everyone here will do as you wish. You want Snow White and Princess Rose to be happy? That's fine too. Now, can you put down those damned fiery boots?"
"No!" The smile on Linghu Lan's face was particularly irritating to the sea witch.
"What exactly do you want?" the witch said fiercely.
"You're lying to me!" Linghu Lan looked at the witch with clear, indifferent eyes, calmly and composedly exposing her true colors. "If I'm not mistaken, you can't actually control the course of the fairy tale, just as you can't control me. I'm afraid you can't even control yourself."
The witch's eyes widened, seemingly surprised that Linghu Lan had suddenly become so clever. She composed herself, tried to calm down, and said in a softer voice, "It seems you know quite a lot. I knew you were a smart girl, but how did you guess?"
"I guessed!"
"Most people would be wrong, but you are really smart. I underestimated you before."
“Thank you, I also think I’m quite clever.” Linghu Lan smiled, revealing thirty-two teeth, but the witch saw it as mockery. She continued, “Actually, what makes me suspicious is why you didn’t kill me? Logically speaking, you are much stronger than me, and killing me would have been an easy thing for you. But you didn’t do that. Instead, you treated me quite well, almost always granting my requests. Although I didn’t ask you for much, and you didn’t have any good intentions, I still feel that something is strange about this.”
"Perhaps it's because I'm kind. Look how many people I've helped. I gave the Little Mermaid the legs she always dreamed of, and I gave her sisters daggers. It's nothing to settle your little grievance. So, I can't possibly watch you die!" The sea witch's voice was as gentle as the Big Bad Wolf coaxing Little Red Riding Hood.
