Chapter 1879 Gu Yanyan's Side Story (3)

I came out of the lingerie store.

Gu Yanyan had already entered a state of being completely out of her mind.

She can no longer explain how she got out.

She was deeply shocked. A man knew her size and accompanied her to buy such intimate items. She felt that Zhang Yang was probably her only choice in this life.

She looked at Zhang Yang with a confused expression.

Zhang Yangsheng is extremely handsome, with delicate features and a high nose bridge. With such looks, he would look exceptionally good even with his hair tied up in a bun.

In the Great Jing Dynasty, men all wore their hair in buns, exuding an elegant and graceful air. But here, men all have short hair, and women no longer wear elaborate hairstyles.

It was unfamiliar, yet it had a unique charm.

Gu Yanyan was currently torn between two conflicting thoughts. On one hand, she knew that the local customs were open-minded, and that a man was not obligated to marry a woman just because he knew her private affairs.

On the other hand, her inherent sense of morality still firmly occupies her mind and body; it is something deeply rooted and difficult to change in a short time.

She bit her lip, feeling somewhat dejected as she recalled what the girl had once said: people change, and one shouldn't stick to the old ways.

Thinking about this made me feel somewhat relieved.

Zhang Yang watched with deep interest as Gu Yanyan's expression gradually changed from conflicted and confused to calm and relaxed. He was somewhat surprised that Gu Yanyan could adapt so quickly.

He was a historian and knew the history of the Great Jing Dynasty very well. It was a very magical dynasty that experienced extreme commercial prosperity and had very enlightened policies, but that did not mean that the customs there were open. It was still a feudal dynasty, a male-dominated society where women had a low social status.

Once a woman has been seen by a man, it seems that she has no other choice but to marry him or die.

It was his first time ever entering a women's lingerie store, and he was actually quite embarrassed. But he thought Gu Yanyan must be even more embarrassed, so he didn't care about his expression. But now it seems that Gu Yanyan has clearly figured it out.

Gu Yanyan seemed quite different from the people of the Great Jing Dynasty he knew from history books; something magical must have happened to her.

"What were you doing during the years you weren't by the Empress's side?"

Zhang Yang suddenly asked this question.

Gu Yanyan stopped in her tracks, her eyes thoughtful.

"I first helped out at the money exchange, and later I went out to explore and visited many places."

Her tone was full of emotion.

Zhang Yang felt something was off.

Because he was very familiar with Gu Yanyan's relevant data report. It clearly stated that Gu Yanyan's bone age was only around twenty years old.

Based on the timeline, Gu Yanyan was not by Empress Zhenrui's side during the ten years she was Empress. Does this mean that Gu Yanyan was already by the Empress's side when she was a teenager?

However, even so, Empress Zhenrui lived to be over sixty years old before passing away.

Assuming that what Gu Yanyan said is true, then her real age is at least over sixty years old. After sleeping for thousands of years, her real age is even more unpredictable.

So, here's the problem.

This means that Gu Yanyan had already stopped developing when she was in her twenties.

Previously, Zhang Yang didn't know Gu Yanyan very well and hadn't thought things through thoroughly, but now there seems to be a contradiction.

If he weren't certain that Gu Yanyan was his father, who had personally dug her out of the ancient tomb, and that her words, actions, and even the painting of Empress Zhenrui that matched the situation in the Great Jing Dynasty at that time, he would have felt deceived.

But clearly, Gu Yanyan wasn't lying to him.

How old are you?

Gu Yanyan looked up at Zhang Yang, a hint of fear in her eyes. She didn't know how to answer the question.

"I……"

Zhang Yang stared intently at Gu Yanyan, not blinking. He could see the struggle, helplessness, and fear in Gu Yanyan's eyes.

He suddenly didn't want to ask anymore and said, "No need to say anything, let's go eat together. I brought you out today mainly to have fun."

Zhang Yang picked up his things and turned to leave. He was a little excited, feeling that he had inadvertently discovered a very important problem.

Ancient emperors all had the habit of seeking immortality. If Gu Yanyan really is immortal, does that mean that during the Great Jing Dynasty, Empress Zhenrui and Emperor Wuzong had already found the elixir of immortality? But that elixir was used on Gu Yanyan by mistake, causing her to stop developing after the age of twenty and to remain asleep for a thousand years?

The thought swirled in his mind, making it difficult for him to calm down. He knew that this issue couldn't be explored too deeply, as it could trigger a series of chain reactions. However, he still wanted to go back and check the relevant information from that era.

If there really were an elixir of immortality, the world would be completely different.

He was thinking this when he suddenly heard Gu Yanyan's voice: "I am now over sixty years old, but I have always looked the same."

Gu Yanyan's voice was low and soft, concealing her fear.

Even in Dajing, she knew what the consequences would be if she exposed her secret like this. What's more, now that people here have better living conditions and are more materially wealthy, wouldn't their pursuit of immortality be even more obsessive?

But she still told him.

Zhang Yang is not a bad person; she knows that perfectly well.

She felt uneasy if she kept it from Zhang Yang, especially since she was currently living and eating at Zhang Yang's house.

Zhang Yang stopped and looked at Gu Yanyan with some surprise.

Gu Yanyan lowered her head, tears glistening in her eyes.

She couldn't explain why she was in this state.

The girl fed him a lot of "medicine" to save her back then, and she was very grateful to the girl.

Having traveled to so many places, he still maintains a youthful appearance and youthful energy, even surpassing his former physical strength, which makes him even more grateful from the bottom of his heart.

However, this is a strange world, which makes her very anxious and uneasy.

Zhang Yang's expression turned serious. He walked back to Gu Yanyan, hooked her chin with his finger, and forced her to look up at him.

He reached out and wiped away the tears in Gu Yanyan's eyes, and solemnly said, "You are twenty years old this year. Never forget your age, and never reveal your hand to anyone casually, understand?"

Gu Yanyan sensed his assertiveness and seriousness, but felt even more shy.

Having a man hook your chin is, by any measure, indecent.

She took a small step back, freeing her chin from Zhang Yang's grasp, lowered her head, twisted her fingers, and whispered, "I understand."

Zhang Yang nodded in satisfaction, his serious expression softening considerably.

He took Gu Yanyan's hand again and said, "Let's go, I'll take you out to eat and watch a movie. We still have a lot to do today."

Gu Yanyan felt her cheeks burning hot. She wanted to break free from Zhang Yang's hand, but Zhang Yang's hand was like a pair of large clamps, holding her tightly, leaving her no room to resist.

She obediently followed Zhang Yang to dinner and watch a movie.

In that dark room, after a series of dazzling and colorful images appeared on the huge screen, Gu Yanyan was immediately drawn in.

Suddenly, she realized something, as if the girl had once said: "Life in ancient times is so boring, you can't even watch a movie."

At that time, she didn't understand what the girl meant by the movie, but after experiencing it herself today, a terrifying thought suddenly arose in her mind: Could it be that the girl came from here? And then, for some reason, went to Dajing? And met His Majesty?

Once this thought arose in her mind, it lingered there.

He suddenly felt a strong urge to go outside and explore, wanting to know if the girl was still alive.

She didn't have much knowledge; she didn't know anything about physics or geography, let alone understand what a time span meant, or that a person could only exist in one world within the same time scale.

She just suddenly thought of that principle and wanted to verify it to see if the girl really existed here.

Zhang Yang noticed the change in her emotions. When she first came in, she was a little confused, but now it was obvious that she had new ideas and understandings in her mind, and she was eager to try them out.

He gently patted Gu Yanyan's back and whispered in her ear, "Calm down and watch the movie. If you have any ideas, then go and implement them after the movie."

Gu Yanyan forced herself to calm down, pondering the difficulties of finding someone in this world, how much money it would cost, and how many places she would have to travel to.

After taking it all in, I realized that I knew very little about the world, and that making money was my top priority. Without money, I couldn't do anything I wanted.

She was lost in thought, not paying attention to what the movie was about.

She remembered Zhang Yang's words about him reading, and her mind suddenly came to life. She knew that she could only think about finding someone if she first understood the world and its principles.

She suddenly looked up at Zhang Yang and said, "I want to go to school!"

Zhang Yang: "..."

He silently looked at Gu Yanyan, whose face was clearly filled with overwhelming joy and eager anticipation, as if a person who had lost their memory suddenly remembered their name and home.

The joy on her face was so obvious that he couldn't bear to discourage her.

He could only nod and say, "Okay, I'll help you with this, but what you need to do now is watch a movie with me."

Having received the promise, Gu Yanyan finally settled down and sat properly in her chair to watch the movie.

Everything around her was strange to her; she even accidentally saw a couple kissing in the dark during the movie in front of her.

Her heart was burning, and she forced herself to focus on the movie screen. Unfortunately, a couple was rolling around in bed on screen, and Gu Yanyan covered her eyes in embarrassment. She wished she could leave right then and there.

In the darkness, Zhang Yang chuckled softly. He remembered when he was a child, his father would cover his eyes with his hands when he saw scenes of men and women kissing on TV. That feeling was extremely funny.

Thinking of this, he unconsciously reached out and covered Gu Yanyan's eyes.

This ancient person from a thousand years ago has very pure eyes; she probably hasn't seen such a scene before, and it would frighten her.

Moreover, he secretly hoped that Gu Yanyan would always maintain this rare purity.

But reason told him that this rare purity would be gradually swallowed up after Gu Yanyan fully integrated into modern society, and she would eventually become just another ordinary person.

The movie ended, and neither of them was satisfied. They were both very serious. However, this was not the most important thing. For Zhang Yang, the most important thing was to help Gu Yanyan gradually adapt to modern society and change her pace of life.

After returning home, Gu Yanyan looked at him with conflicted eyes, clearly wanting to speak but unable to.

Zhang Yang very readily called to help him with school matters.

Gu Yanyan's father had already arranged for someone to take care of her identity information, and Gu Yanyan's household registration has now been transferred to his home.

As for schooling, he has some connections that he can make it happen. After graduating from university, several of his close friends stayed on as teachers, so it shouldn't be a problem for Gu Yanyan to study there.

Gu Yanyan relaxed and consciously tidied up the house, arranging the items neatly one by one.

She also neatly folded the clothes she had previously worn from Zhang Yang and put them in Zhang Yang's wardrobe.

She saw that a piece of clothing on Zhang Yang's clothes rack was torn, so she naturally took it down and found a needle and thread to sew it up.

After Zhang Yang finished his call, he saw Gu Yanyan sitting quietly on the sofa. Her posture was dignified and her figure was graceful, like a beautiful lady in a painting.

The focused look on her face when she sews is very touching.

He watched quietly from the side until Gu Yanyan had finished tidying up the loose threads, at which point he finally moved.

Gu Yanyan looked up and saw him, a little embarrassed. "I saw your clothes were torn, so I sewed them up. Do you think they look okay?"

He shook out the clothes in his hands and let Zhang Yang inspect them.

Zhang Yang's gaze fell on the garment, where the torn parts had been meticulously stitched back together with fine needle and thread. The stitching was so good that it was impossible to tell that the garment had ever been damaged.

The most exquisite detail was that Gu Yanyan had actually embroidered a pattern on it, which nicely repaired the torn parts and made an ordinary piece of clothing instantly more vivid and interesting.

A thought suddenly struck him, and he asked, "Do you want to study history with me, or do you want to study fashion design?"

History? Fashion design?

These two words were unfamiliar to Gu Yanyan, but she could easily tell what they meant from the literal meaning of the words.

She thought about it carefully and realized that studying history was a very serious matter, and she was just a nobody who couldn't bear the responsibility.

She said, "I want to study fashion design!"
