The doctor looked at the data and smiled. "Okay, your recovery is going well. Congratulations!"
A hint of doubt flashed in Linghu Lan's eyes. She thought for a moment and asked, "May I ask what my name is?"
The doctors and nurses froze instantly.
"You have amnesia?"
Linghu Lan said calmly, "No, I just wanted to ask."
The doctor's expression remained serious. "Do you remember your name? Look me in the eyes now and answer me seriously, what's your name?"
"..."
Linghu Lan stared into the doctor's dark pupils, her heart already fluttering. After a moment's thought, she calmly asked, "My name is Sophie?"
The doctor and nurse both felt a pang of anxiety, then exchanged glances. They forced a smile and reassured each other, "Uh! You should rest for a bit, I'll come back to see you later."
The two quickly left the ward, and the male doctor's voice echoed in the corridor: "Pull up all her medical records from when she was sick, and see where the problem lies..."
The sound faded into the distance, and it became inaudible.
Linghu Lan got out of bed, pulled out the IV tube from her hand, opened the drawer on the bedside table, and looked inside. Apart from some medicine, there was no information.
She looked up at the IV bag again and saw a name printed in neat Song typeface on the label: Linghu Lan!
Linghu Lan!!!
A bittersweet joy shot straight from my heart to my eyes, and tears uncontrollably streamed down my cheeks!
Having traversed countless years and become countless different people, this time, she finally reunited with herself and became herself again. It felt so good!
Linghu Lan let her tears flow freely, and after crying, she felt a joy as if she had been reborn.
Not long after, the doctor came in with a nurse, their expressions very serious. They had checked a lot of data and still couldn't understand why she would suddenly lose her memory. Could it be that she had slept for too long and become mentally impaired? But there were people who had slept for even longer and hadn't experienced any other problems when they woke up!
Upon entering, I immediately saw Linghu Lan crying while looking at the name on the IV bag.
Doctor: "..." The secret has been revealed.
He quickly said, "Don't be afraid. It's normal for your mind to be a little slow to catch up with your body after you just woke up. Trust us. We will definitely cure you." Although he himself wasn't very confident in saying this. Cured? That was probably very difficult; the human brain is just too complex.
Linghu Lan wiped away her tears, turned around and smiled, with a refreshing smile like that of someone reborn after the rain. "I haven't lost my memory. I know my name is Linghu Lan!"
The nurse asked in surprise, "Didn't you just forget? Uh, you can't be afraid to seek medical help! You have to tell us if you have a problem."
Linghu Lan shook her head and did not answer. She had deliberately said Sophie earlier to prevent being deceived. She woke up in a hospital but did not see her relatives, which made her feel uneasy. To protect herself and to avoid being misled by the doctor, she gave a fake name.
The doctor checked the data again and confirmed that she was really fine. In a flash, he had a sudden realization. He smiled and said, "Young lady, you're quite cautious. I see that you've recovered almost completely. Here's what we'll do: schedule the surgery for next Monday. Eat and drink well during this time to conserve your energy and prepare for the surgery."
Linghu Lan: "..."
What???
What kind of surgery?
