"Hahahaha!" The witch looked up and stared directly at her. "If you think this will end the darkness, you're being far too naive. The truth is always more cruel than you imagine. I'll wait for the day you uncover the truth and see what you decide!"
Linghu Lan stood up, calmly looking at her, a vague idea forming in her mind: "You will get my answer!"
This statement was unusually firm, which surprised the sea witch. A smile spread across her withered face, as if she were waiting for a good show to begin. She would stand behind the scenes, watching Linghu Lan become trapped in her own web, unable to break free, struggling in agony. "Alright! Since you've made your decision, I will send you back to the past. Come to this crystal ball, put your hand on it, and I hope you have a great time in the past!"
Linghu Lan silently watched her. After a long while, she chose to believe the witch's words. If the sea witch intended to kill her, she would have died many times over long ago, and wouldn't have had to resort to using a crystal ball to ambush her. Her fair and soft fingers gently placed on the crystal ball. A whirlwind surged within the crystal ball, and Linghu Lan felt a vortex of spacetime open around her, as if a spatial black hole was sucking her in. Before leaving, she suddenly turned back and asked, "Can anyone kill you?"
The sea witch paused for a moment, then laughed wickedly, "Of course you can! I can be killed easily, but you haven't found the way yet, my dear Princess and the Pea. Alright! Go and fulfill your mission, end the darkness! Hahahaha!"
The witch's shrill laughter faded into the distance, and darkness enveloped Linghu Lan. She felt as if she were in an hourglass of time, seeing faces coldly watching her from outside of time. Soon, all of this disappeared, and a beam of white light pulled her out, leaving her on flat ground.
She calmed her dizziness, looked around, and was surprised to find that she was still in the Sea Witch's room. The difference was that there was no witch, no evil queen, only her, all alone.
She opened the door and went out. The water snakes and toads scattered and fled, as if she were some terrifying monster. She swam through the seaweed forest like octopus tentacles, through the whirlpools, and towards the Little Mermaid's palace. If the sea witch really sent her back to the past, then today would be the Little Mermaid's fifteenth birthday. She would be allowed to swim to the surface at night to breathe, sit on a rock to comb her long golden hair, and then see the Crimson Prince's ship capsized by the waves. She would save the prince and fall in love with his beauty, and from then on, she would be unable to extricate herself.
Thinking of this, Linghu Lan quickened her pace. The sea was getting darker and darker, and night was not far away.
The Little Mermaid's palace is easy to find; the magnificent golden palace in the ocean is the Little Mermaid's home.
The mermaids are celebrating the Little Mermaid's birthday. They will adorn her with beautiful seashells and dress her up in her most beautiful form.
Linghu Lan watched all this from afar outside the palace. The joy inside spread to every swimming sea creature. Since losing the Little Mermaid, such a joyful atmosphere had been gone forever.
Fortunately, she still has a chance to change things.
The crowd escorted the Little Mermaid out of the palace. Her grandmother was about to fulfill her promise and let her go to the surface of the sea to see the human world.
