Ling Xuefeng slammed the door and left.
He left in such a hurry that he didn't even see Ling Yong squatting by the wall.
From inside the house came Hui Xiang's cursing: "Ling Xuefeng, you heartless bastard! You're incompetent at making money but you dare to boss me around? If you're so capable, give me the money and let that shameless woman sleep with you. I won't say a word."
Ling Yong covered his ears, feeling an excruciating discomfort.
He felt it was good that his sister wasn't coming home, and he didn't want to go back to this house either.
I waited for a while.
A figure rushed out of the house, Zhang Huixiang calling out "Ling Yong, Ling Yong!" and crying as she went to find her son.
Ling Yong felt as if his heart was being torn in two; he was in extreme pain.
He ignored Zhang Huixiang and climbed over the wall into his own room. Without turning off the lights, he silently thought about the mess in his house in the darkness, but found that he couldn't make sense of it at all.
He drifted off to sleep in a daze.
I was woken up by someone hugging me again.
It was his mother, Zhang Huixiang.
Zhang Huixiang rambled on, "Everyone says that Mom didn't treat your sister well, but you don't know how much suffering Mom endured with your sister. When I gave birth to your sister, your 'grandmother' cursed me as a jinx, saying I gave birth to a money-losing child. Your maternal grandmother didn't even come to see me. I was in postpartum confinement for three days, and I still had to cook porridge for myself. After three days, your 'grandmother' made me go back to work in the fields. The suffering I endured after that is indescribable. Your sister was always sick, and she never gave me a single good day. I suffered terribly with her."
My good days didn't begin until you were born. Your grandmother not only took good care of me during my postpartum period, but if she didn't, I would argue with her. When she scolded me, I would grab you and run away, scaring her so much that she almost knelt down before me. You were born with a heart that loves your mother, unlike your sister who was born to harm me. You were born in December, and I sat on the kang (a heated brick bed), not having to do any work, and dressed warmly. Unlike your sister, who was born in July, I was almost dying of heat, sweating profusely..."
As Ling Yong listened, his heart felt as if it were being pierced by a thousand needles.
He felt like he was being torn apart, torn apart by the person he loved most.
This was the saddest day of his life, as if he had learned too many secrets overnight and was forced to grow up.
...
Monday has arrived.
Shi Hongyan returned to school. After the bird droppings incident, she became much more silent and wilted, like a frostbitten eggplant.
Upon seeing Linghu Lan, he merely glared at her and pretended not to notice.
It wasn't that she didn't want revenge, but that she lacked the ability to do so. Even her mother's attempt to reason with Ling Yun's mother had failed, so there was no way she could.
Who is her mother? She's the most formidable quarrelmaker in the whole village. Not only did she lose to Lingyun's mother, but she was also chased out with a rolling pin.
If the mother is so rude, how can Lingyun be any better? What's infuriating is that Lingyun used to pretend to be so easy to bully, but now it seems she's a tough nut to crack. She's just too wicked.
snort!
She passed by Linghu Lan's desk, glanced at it, and was surprised to find that she was reading a high school sophomore's book.
She almost blurted out a sarcastic remark, but thankfully she still had her senses and quickly shut her mouth.
Back in her seat, she quietly passed the message to another classmate.
"Look at Ling Yun, he's such a show-off. He hasn't even figured out the first-year high school books, yet he's already reading the second-year high school books, pretending that he can really understand them."
The classmate wasn't stupid; he knew the two had a grudge. He exclaimed in surprise, "You must be mistaken! They haven't given out the second-year high school books yet. Where are you going to look for them?"
