Novel website. A girl three years older than her boyfriend, applying to BRICS?
Does being a woman three years older necessarily mean she is mature and reasonable?
That's not necessarily true. My sister's own mother is decades older than her, and she's just as unreasonable.
Linghu Lan smiled and said, "I have my reasons for doing this. I am doing this for His Majesty's own good."
"Your Majesty, please forgive my ignorance, I truly do not understand!"
Before Linghu Lan could speak, a palace maid rushed in to report.
"Your Majesty, Aunt Yun Nian from the Empress Dowager's side has arrived and is waiting outside the door."
"Please let her in!"
"yes!"
In a short while, Yun Nian walked in briskly, gave a proper bow, and exuded a refreshing and intelligent aura. It was clear at first glance that she was a smart person.
"This servant greets Your Majesty the Empress."
"Get up and sit down!"
Yun Nian smiled and said, "Thank you for the seat, Your Majesty. I have only come to deliver a message. I would not dare to trouble Your Majesty. The Empress Dowager requests that you come to Xiankun Palace."
Lin Mama's expression changed, a hint of worry flashing across her eyes. She quickly lowered her eyes, her face remaining perfectly still.
Linghu Lan took a sip of tea and smiled, "Alright! Aunt, go ahead first. I'll be there shortly."
"Yes! This servant will take her leave now."
"Go ahead! Granny Lin, see Aunt Yun Nian off."
"Yes! Please, Aunt Yun Nian!"
Yun Nian smiled slightly, said thank you for your trouble, and then went out briskly.
Linghu Lan watched her retreating figure. As expected of someone trained by the Empress Dowager, her actions were indeed methodical, far superior to her poorly managed Suning Palace.
What happened last night must have spread throughout the palace overnight. The Empress Dowager didn't say much because of the wedding during the day, but she was very concerned and couldn't wait until the next day to ask about it.
What a loving mother's heart!
A moment later, Granny Lin returned, her eyes clearly showing anxiety.
"Your Majesty, you..."
"Of course I'm going to Xiankun Palace to pay my respects to the Empress Dowager."
Granny Lin paused for a moment, then immediately ordered someone to prepare a sedan chair.
Perhaps influenced by Linghu Lan's composure, she calmed down and advised, "The Empress Dowager has always been kind; Your Highness should simply apologize properly."
Is it merciful?
Linghu Lan smiled.
The Empress Dowager's kindness was selective; when she was useful, her kindness would fall upon her, but when she was no longer useful, it would fall upon others.
After Linghu Lan finished changing and tidying up, she got into the sedan chair and headed towards Xiankun Palace.
The courtyard is deep and dark, and the night is heavy.
The palace exudes a serene beauty in every corner, yet the people within are always anxious and restless.
Linghu Lan sighed.
The sedan chair twisted and turned until it arrived outside Xiankun Palace, where she stepped inside gracefully.
The Empress Dowager sat on her throne. Her residence was elegant and clean, without any superfluous decorations, yet it exuded a sense of solemnity and solidity. She herself was like this room—silent and simple, yet possessing an undeniable majesty, a gift bestowed upon her by the years.
"Your subject greets Your Majesty." Linghu Lan bowed gracefully.
The Empress Dowager did not tell them to rise. After a long pause, she slowly spoke, "Do you know your mistake?"
"Your Majesty, I do not know what I have done wrong. I beg Your Majesty to enlighten me!"
The Empress Dowager's lips twitched slightly, but her expression remained unchanged. "Last night, was it you who allowed His Majesty to sleep on the couch in front of your bed?"
"Your subject would not dare to deceive Your Majesty, that is indeed true!"
"Heh!" A cold snort came from the distant hall. "You've got some nerve!"
"With the true dragon by my side, I dare not be timid." Linghu Lan's clear voice seemed to strike the Empress Dowager's heart.
