She glanced back at Qi Yue not far away, wondering how her mother could still remember those two. What was so special about them that she couldn't see anything at all.
Linghu Lan covered the microphone and whispered, "Mom, didn't I tell you that one of them is a womanizer and the other is gay? Why are you still thinking about them?"
"Ah! Oh! I forgot!" Lan's mother said with some regret. Those two young men were really handsome and would have been a good match for her daughter. What a pity! "I know, I thought you were just saying that to fool your mother. It turns out it's true. If it's true, then forget it. Being friends is fine, but as for boyfriends, sigh, forget it. So, who do you like? Can you bring them home to meet the parents?"
Linghu Lan fell silent again. "Mom, don't worry too much about me. What's meant to happen will happen. I'm hanging up now; I have some things to take care of here. I'll call you back in a few days."
Lan's mother sighed and reluctantly hung up the phone. She could sense the suppressed emotion in her daughter's voice, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why. Could it be that the boy didn't like her daughter?
Thinking of this, Lan's mother was furious. She swung her rolling pin, clearly indicating that anyone who disliked her daughter was a reactionary and she would definitely give him a good beating with the rolling pin.
...
Linghu Lan felt her heart was in turmoil.
She tossed and turned a few times while trying to sleep that night.
She thought she had experienced so much and seen it all, but she was completely exposed and defeated under Mo Tang's gaze.
"Everything has its counter!" This applies to everything.
Linghu Lan sighed, pulled the covers up, and prepared to sleep. But when she glanced at the door, she saw a figure through the window in the door.
She sat up abruptly, turned on the light, and saw Mo Tang standing outside the door.
Linghu Lan got out of bed and opened the door.
Mo Tang walked in, grabbed Linghu Lan, and hugged her tightly, refusing to let go.
Linghu Lan's heart was pounding, and for a moment she didn't know where to put her hands. It seemed she should place them on Mo Tang's back, but as soon as her fingertips touched Mo Tang's back, she recoiled as if electrocuted. She still couldn't bring herself to hurt him; her remaining pride and dignity were still struggling to hold on.
Mo Tang whispered in her ear, "I thought you were gone."
Linghu Lan felt a bittersweet emotion welling up inside her; she felt as if she'd been struck by lightning. "Mo Tang!"
"I'm tired, go to bed and sleep!" Mo Tang picked up Linghu Lan and put her on the bed. He then crawled into bed, covered himself with the blanket, and pulled Linghu Lan into his arms. Then, he closed his eyes peacefully.
Linghu Lan straightened her body, feeling that things had happened too fast, leaving her somewhat confused. She wanted to ask Mo Tang a question, but when she turned her head, she found that Mo Tang had already closed his eyes tightly, his handsome brows furrowed again, and he seemed to have fallen into some kind of chaos once more.
Without Mo Tang's sharp gaze, Linghu Lan relaxed again, and for a moment felt incredibly at ease.
She looked closely at Mo Tang's features. He was really good-looking. He had received good care during this time, and his face had regained color. He had gained some weight and looked even more energetic. If it weren't for the fact that his eyes revealed that he was a patient, anyone who saw him would automatically categorize him as a noble young master from a wealthy family. Such a person was born to attract attention.
She was silent for a while, then reached out and turned off the light. She adjusted herself to a more comfortable position and nestled peacefully in Mo Tang's arms, falling asleep peacefully.
