Chapter 7 The Female Supporting Character in the Control Group—Returning to Shanghai

In the two days following their wedding, Shen Yu didn't go to the company, instead taking his young wife on dates to various places.

The two were engaged through a marriage of convenience; they only met briefly a few times before getting engaged, and then got married two months later. The process was very fast, and their feelings for each other were very weak.

The couple's relationship was very strong after their marriage, and they naturally wanted to make up for the regret of not having been in a romantic relationship. So, for the past two days, they have been living like a young couple in love.

The third day after the wedding is the day the bride returns to her parents' home.

In the morning, on the third floor of the Tan Palace, Shen Yu glanced at the watch on his wrist. The hour hand slowly pointed to eight. He took a deep breath and walked calmly toward the large bed.

The bedding had been changed to champagne gold silk from Frette, which Ji Yaoyao liked. A mound rose in the center of the large bed. When she was alone in bed, Ji Yaoyao liked to curl up to sleep. If Chen Yu was in bed, Ji Yaoyao liked to put her legs on him to sleep.

"Yaoyao, get up, we're going to Shanghai today." After spending two days together, Shen Yu knew how grumpy Ji Yaoyao was in the morning.

Gentle calls had no effect whatsoever; the person on the bed remained motionless. Helpless, Shen Yu could only lift the blanket covering Ji Yaoyao's head.

The blanket was suddenly pulled off, and a blinding light rushed in, ruining my peaceful sleep. Before I even opened my eyes, my brows were already furrowed: "What are you doing!"

As she spoke, she reached out to pull the blanket over herself.

Shen Yu sighed, understanding that she didn't like getting up early. He had forced himself to stay awake last night and hadn't dared to bother this little devil, but she still couldn't get up today.

There was nothing I could do if I couldn't get up. It would be impolite to be late for my first visit to my in-laws' house after the wedding.

Shen Yu picked her up, blanket and all, and then separated her from the blanket. The room was at a constant temperature that was most comfortable for the human body, so she didn't feel cold at all.

The moment she was lifted up in mid-air, Ji Yaoyao finally woke up, glaring at the culprit: "You're so annoying! I don't want to get up!"

The young lady was furious!

Shen Yu could only continue to coax, "Baby, be good, just bear with it for a while. After we get on the plane to Shanghai, I'll hold you and let you catch up on your sleep, okay?"

"Did you forget that you made an appointment with Mom and Dad at noon yesterday? You can't break your promise."

Seeing that Yao Yao remained silent, Shen Yu could only continue to patiently comfort her.

Ji Yaoyao slapped her forehead in annoyance. She had completely forgotten that she was supposed to go home today. Pouting, she apologized to Chen Yu, "Honey, I'm sorry~ I forgot~"

Seeing his wife's easy-going appearance, Shen Yu laughed and kissed her rosy lips: "It's okay, husband isn't angry."

After a few seconds of desperate struggle, Ji Yaoyao resigned herself to getting up.

Just before nine o'clock, the two boarded Shen Yu's private plane and headed towards Shanghai.

At 11 o'clock, the plane landed on time, and the car prepared by Shen Yu was already waiting. The flight attendants carried all kinds of gifts down and put them in the trunk of the Rolls-Royce.

Ji Mansion in Shanghai

To welcome the newlyweds, the servants at the Ji family's home had been cleaning and tidying up non-stop since morning, and the kitchen was bustling with activity as preparations were underway.

Ji Yaoyao is the eldest child in her family, with a younger brother named Ji Xingzhi. She is a senior in high school this year.

As soon as the car entered the mansion, Ji Xingzhi eagerly came out to greet it.

"Sister, brother-in-law." Ji Xingzhi's personality is similar to his sister's; he's quite lively, a tall, handsome, and sunny young man who makes people feel good just looking at him.

When Ji Yaoyao saw her younger brother come out, she hurriedly got out of the car as soon as it stopped and ran towards him. It had only been two days, but the two siblings seemed to have not seen each other for a long time. They hugged each other happily, and Ji Xingzhi even picked up his sister and spun her around.

Silvery laughter rang out in the courtyard.

Watching this unfold, Shen Yu, who was driving, turned pale. Even though the other person was his brother-in-law, he was still jealous.

When Mr. and Mrs. Ji came out of the house, Shen Yu was taking gifts out of the car. Seeing that her daughter was completely ignoring her son-in-law and only caring about playing with her younger brother, Mrs. Ji pretended to be angry: "Xingzhi, quickly put your sister down. Yaoyao, why are you still acting like a child? Quickly help Shen Yu carry his things."

Shen Yu smiled gently at his parents-in-law, showing great understanding: "Mom and Dad, don't be so polite. I can carry these things myself. Let Yao Yao and her brother talk more; they haven't seen each other in a long time."

Yaoyao chimed in, "That's right, Mom and Dad, you don't love me anymore now that you have a son-in-law!"

Father Ji smiled with satisfaction. It seemed that his judgment was quite good. The young couple had a good relationship, and his daughter was in good condition, so he was relieved.

Mother Ji glared at her daughter with a smile, but it had no power whatsoever: "You little rascal, you're so spoiled!"

Although she didn't ask her daughter to help her son-in-law anymore, Mrs. Ji quickly called the servants in the yard to come and help her son-in-law. Mrs. Ji knew her stuff, and she couldn't be more satisfied looking at the expensive gift boxes in the servants' hands! This shows that her daughter and son-in-law had a very harmonious relationship.

The family of four entered the house chatting and laughing. After chatting for a while, it was lunchtime.

Beforehand, Ji's mother asked Ji Yaoyao some questions, all about Shen Yu's eating habits. Shen Yu didn't dare to put on airs in front of his parents-in-law, and only said that he was not picky about food and preferred light meals.

The dishes on the table were plentiful, with all kinds of flavors and everything imaginable.

The four chatted as they ate. Ji's father and Shen Yu discussed the latest news, ranging from national affairs to the business environment, covering very important topics.

Yao Yao and her younger brother chatted about the latest gossip, such as whose kids got into a fight, whose wife caught her husband's mistress, and so on. From time to time, their mother would glare at the two siblings, signaling them not to go too far. Her two children were both gossip experts!

Shen Yu knew that Yao Yao loved to eat shrimp. He noticed that she ate one and then stopped picking up more, so he understood that she was too lazy to peel them.

While chatting with his father-in-law, he put on disposable gloves from the table and started peeling shrimp. After peeling, he put the shrimp directly into the delicate bowl, his movements were so natural, as if he had done it hundreds of times.

In an instant, Shen Yu was subjected to the gazes of four people. He pretended to be calm and answered his father-in-law's question with a smile, as if he had not done anything.

Yao Yao was so impressed by Chen Yu's keen eye for detail; her sweet voice rang out, "Thank you, husband~"

Hearing his older sister's voice, Ji Xingzhi instantly got goosebumps. Looking at his brother-in-law's pleased expression, he was speechless and silently complained to himself, "Married people are so cloying."

After dinner, Mr. Ji got into the mood and wanted to play chess. Although he wasn't very good at it, he enjoyed it. When he heard that his son-in-law could play chess, Mr. Ji's hands started itching. His son-in-law was family, and he wasn't afraid of losing face in front of his own family.

Ji Xingzhi was in the final month of his senior year of high school, and he was only able to go home for lunch because his mother had to call his homeroom teacher to ask for leave. He had barely finished eating when his mother urged him to go back to school.

Ji's mother gestured for Ji Yaoyao to go upstairs, where the two planned to have a private conversation.

As soon as the study door closed, Madam Ji said with a serious expression, "Yaoyao, I hope that no matter what happens in the future, you will never see Chen Yue again!"
