"..." The Fujin was surprised that the first person Yinzhen asked upon his return was Consort Yin. She froze, momentarily at a loss for words.
"Hmm?" Yinzhen turned his head to look at his wife, his eyes carrying a hint of danger. He had returned to the manor in a hurry today and had not lingered in the front courtyard, so he had not had time to ask about the affairs in the back courtyard. Now, seeing the change in his wife's expression, Yinzhen could not help but feel worried.
"Perhaps Sister Yin has some misunderstanding about me, which is why she hasn't come to pay her respects these past few times," the Fujin replied, her eyes flickering slightly.
"My lord, the reason why the concubine didn't come is probably because the prince said she was an evil spirit and even wanted a Taoist priest to exorcise her, which is why he harbors resentment towards the prince." Madam Li looked at the prince who was still trying to refuse, her eyes filled with mockery. You think you can just fool the prince? You'll have to see if she agrees or not.
"You may all leave." Yinzhen looked at Li Shi, who had spoken. How could he not know the purpose of Li Shi's words? Wasn't she hoping that he would embarrass the Fujin in front of everyone? Although he was also angry when he heard Li Shi say this, he was not so angry as to lose his mind. This household still needed a person in charge, so he still had to give the Fujin face.
"Yes." Lady Fucha and Lady Niohuru immediately stood up, bowed, and took their leave, while Lady Li remained standing in place.
"Why aren't you backing down?" Yinzhen frowned as he looked at Li Shi below. This Li Shi was really becoming more and more outrageous.
"...This concubine takes her leave." Li lowered her head unwillingly, curtsied and took her leave. Although she knew that the Fujin would be scolded by the master after they left, knowing it and seeing it with her own eyes were two different things.
"Speak," Yinzhen said, turning to his standing wife after the others had left.
"Since Your Highness believes in Li Shi instead of me, then why should I say anything more?" The Princess Consort said slowly after pursing her lips.
"If you won't tell me, fine. Su Peisheng, go and call Su Xiaobao here." Yinzhen looked at his wife like this, and disappointment flashed in his eyes. He had given her a chance. He had only rushed back today to talk to his wife about something, but he didn't expect that there were so many things waiting for him in the mansion. In just over three months, his wife had even brought up something like evil spirits.
Su Xiaobao arrived quickly. As soon as he entered the room, he sensed that something was wrong and didn't dare to say much. On the way, his godfather had told him about the evil thing. So as soon as he arrived, Su Xiaobao knelt down to pay his respects and immediately began to tell what he had seen and heard, recounting the whole story without any embellishment.
"..." After hearing Su Xiaobao's words, the Fujin stiffened. She could have pointed out any slight bias in Su Xiaobao's words towards Yin Qingyi, but Su Xiaobao's words were all neutral and unbiased, which was why the Fujin had nothing to say.
"Ulanara, you! Very well." After hearing this, Yinzhen looked at his wife, his tone icy, and then quickly left. Su Peisheng followed Yinzhen away, glancing at his wife who stood ramrod straight before leaving, and sighed inwardly, "My wife is so foolish."
After Yinzhen left, the Fujin suddenly slumped into a chair, her face pale and tears streaming down her face.
"My lady." Granny Li stepped forward and hugged the Fujin with heartache.
"Granny, look at this! This is the man I love with all my heart. He came back after being away for months and the first thing he did was treat me like this because of that concubine, Lady Yin! What do I lack compared to Lady Yin except for her face? Lady Yin, Lady Yin! This mansion is either you or me!" The Fujin looked at Luoxuexuan with resentment, her eyes filled with venom.
"Achoo~" Yin Qingyi, who was far away in Luoxue Pavilion, suddenly sneezed. She tightened her clothes and continued to tease the three little ones on the bed to turn over.
"Yue'er, come and get it!" Yin Qingyi waved a plush rabbit in front of her daughter, her eyes crinkling with laughter as she watched her daughter's chubby body struggle to turn around.
"Ya ya." Yue'er looked at the beloved plush rabbit in her mother's hand. She tried her best to reach it but couldn't. With a strong kick of her right leg, she successfully flipped over and grabbed the little rabbit from her mother's hand. She immediately put her mouth to it and took a bite.
"Oh my, our Yue'er rolled over! That's great! How come you two older brothers aren't as good as your little sister? Come on, roll over for your mother!" Yin Qingyi teased her two sons, who were still trying to roll over, with a tiger and a cat plush toy.
Burha and Etubu, lying on the bed, watched as their mother kicked her legs with all her might, but whether it was because they were too fat or because they weren't using the right force, they just couldn't kick over the doll. The two little ones were so anxious that they scratched their ears and cheeks.
"Granny, look, I told you they were too fat and that I should tell the wet nurse to feed them less milk. They can't even turn over properly." Yin Qingyi looked at her two sons straining, her eyes brimming with laughter. They were just too cute and adorable.
"If we can't turn it over, we'll do it later. How can my son go hungry?" Yinzhen's voice suddenly rang out, filled with doting affection.
"Master?" Yin Qingyi turned around abruptly to look at Yinzhen standing behind her. Her fox-like eyes widened in surprise, and she even blinked hard a couple of times, wondering if she was seeing things. But the man was still standing there, looking at her with a slight smile on his lips.
The moment Yin Qingyi turned her head, Yinzhen felt that no amount of beauty in the world could describe the woman in front of him. How could she have changed so much in just three months? It was as if she had grown up all at once, without any transition, which left Yinzhen in a daze for a while.
"Master?" Yin Qingyi called out again in confusion when she saw that Yinzhen was not moving.
"Ahem, um." Yinzhen blinked, and after regaining his senses, he coughed twice awkwardly. In order to cover up that he was staring at the little woman, Yinzhen resumed his aloof state, but his reddened ears gave everything away, though no one noticed.
"Your Highness, you just got back? Why didn't you send someone to let me know? Did you go to see the Princess Consort?" Yin Qingyi had no idea that her beauty had dazzled this Fourth Prince, otherwise Gao Yao would have been smugly wagging his tail.
"Yes, I decided to come back at the last minute. I've already been there." Yinzhen's gaze swept past Yin Qingyi and landed on the three children on the bed.
"Oh, Master, you don't know, Yue'er can already roll over. Shouldn't they, as her older brothers, be better than her? But look, they're so fat they can't roll over at all." Yin Qingyi nodded and stopped asking. As long as they had been to the Fujin's place before coming here, that was fine with her; nothing else mattered.
"The child is still young, maybe he'll be able to roll over in a few days? But why put the child on your bed? Don't they have a bed in their room?" Yinzhen asked suspiciously, his eyes looking at Yin Qingyi with a hint of danger.
"Yes, it's just more convenient here," Yin Qingyi replied, completely unaware that she was being stared at by a hungry wolf.
