Chapter 13 Fragrance

Su Peisheng, being quite perceptive, had two basins of ice brought over. After all, the princess's quarters were pitifully short of ice; the princess could tolerate it, but the master could not.

Yin Qingyi didn't really want to sleep, since she had just woken up. But since this old man was sleeping here, she, as a princess, couldn't just run away, could she?

Yinzhen lay on the bed for a while and saw that Yin Qingyi was still standing beside him. He looked up and saw that Yin Qingyi looked conflicted. He immediately remembered that when he came, Yin Shi was still sleeping. He was probably not sleeping now. However, he was already lying down and could not go back to the front yard. Moreover, he happened to have some free time today. He remembered that he said he would come to her place yesterday, but he did not come. He came for lunch today. He originally planned to leave after lunch, but for some reason, he felt very comfortable staying at Yin Shi's place, so he decided not to leave.

"You've already slept today, so you don't need to sleep with me. It'll keep you awake tonight. Go do whatever you want; you don't need to stay here." It was rare for Yinzhen to be so considerate.

"Well, I'll be in the outer room. If you need anything, just call me." Yin Qingyi originally wanted to say that this was against the rules, but she immediately changed her mind after Yinzhen looked over.

"Hmm," Yinzhen responded and then closed his eyes.

Seeing this, Yin Qingyi said nothing more and quietly withdrew. Once in the outer room, she picked up the handkerchief she had embroidered in her spare time and continued stitching. There was nothing she could do in this era without cell phones or computers. She couldn't even get her hands on an ancient novel, and even if she did, she wouldn't have the money! Even if she did have the money, she wouldn't dare do such things. If one of the gentlemen inside knew she was reading such nonsense, he might find her repulsive. So, she decided to stick to her embroidery.

Lying in bed, Yinzhen smelled a faint fragrance in the room. It smelled quite pleasant. He wondered what kind of incense Lady Yin was using. He'd have Su Peisheng investigate tomorrow and burn the same incense in the front courtyard. Despite not expecting to fall asleep so quickly, Yinzhen closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep almost immediately. If Su Peisheng outside had seen this, he would have been astonished. No one knew better than him that his master had great difficulty falling asleep; unless he was exhausted, it was impossible for him to fall asleep so easily.

While embroidering in the outer room, Yin Qingyi was completely unaware that the peach blossom birthmark on her shoulder was emitting a faint fragrance out of sight. Yin Qingyi herself couldn't smell it, and even if Chunlan and Qiuju could, they wouldn't say anything, assuming Yin Qingyi already knew. They were all envious and happy; how wonderful it was for a princess to have a natural fragrance! They certainly wouldn't go around talking about it.

Yinzhen slept for quite a long time, so long that Su Peisheng, who was waiting outside, kept glancing into the room. Yin Qingyi got up and quietly went in to take a look. When she came out, she shook her head at Su Peisheng, indicating that he was still asleep. Su Peisheng could only continue to wait outside, but his heart was far from calm as he appeared. He knew that since he started his mission, his master hadn't had a proper rest in a long time. Even when he rested at noon, he would only get up after half an hour at most. But today, he had already slept for an hour and a half and still hadn't woken up. How could he not be surprised?

"Su Peisheng." After another quarter of an hour, Yinzhen's voice finally rang out from inside.

"Your servant is here." Su Peisheng hurriedly ran inside.

"What time is it?" How could Yinzhen not know how to tell time? It's precisely because he does know how that he asks this unnecessary question.

“Sir, it’s almost 5 PM now,” Su Peisheng replied hastily.

"...Understood, help the master get up." Yinzhen spoke after a moment of silence.

Yin Qingyi watched from the sidelines, unable to offer any help, mainly because she herself didn't even know how to dress herself properly...

"I'm going back to the front yard now. I'll come back later." After dressing properly, Yinzhen walked to the door and then stopped to say this to Yin Qingyi.

"Yes, Your Highness, this concubine will wait for you." Yin Qingyi appropriately displayed a look of anticipation and shyness.

Yinzhen was indeed very pleased. Although he didn't say anything and his face didn't change, his aura was different. Yin Qingyi didn't feel it, but Su Peisheng could.

Su Peisheng couldn't help but glance at Yin Qingyi again, and sighed inwardly. He thought that someone who could rival Li Gege would soon emerge in the inner courtyard. He wondered who would be the ultimate winner between the two. He was more inclined to support Li Gege, after all, Li Gege had a son and a daughter, which Yin Gege could not compare to.

After seeing Yinzhen off, Yin Qingyi finally relaxed. She wondered if Li would kidnap someone again today. Actually, she quite hoped that Li would continue.

It's a pity. Yin Qingyi hoped that Li would continue, but Li wasn't really stupid. She had kidnapped someone yesterday, and this morning the master had already given Yin a reward. He even dined with Yin at noon. How could she possibly do it again today? Wouldn't that be going against the master? Although she was unhappy, she didn't do anything foolish.

At dinner time, Yinzhen arrived right on time. The kitchen staff already knew that Yinzhen was coming to Luoxue Pavilion, so they had prepared the dishes in advance and were just waiting for Yinzhen to arrive so they could be delivered.

"This servant, Xiao Jinzi, greets Your Highness." Xiao Jinzi saw Yinzhen from afar at the entrance of Luoxue Pavilion and hurriedly greeted him loudly. He was extremely annoyed when he learned that his master had come to Luoxue Pavilion earlier that day. When he returned, his master was already asleep. Now he could finally greet his master.

"Are you from Luoxue Pavilion?" Yinzhen stopped and looked at Xiao Jinzi. He hadn't seen this little eunuch at noon today. He had thought that Madam Yin didn't like using eunuchs, so she hadn't used him.

"Replying to Master, this servant is from Luoxuexuan," Xiao Jinzi quickly replied.

"Why haven't I seen you here today?" Yinzhen's tone was not good. In his opinion, if a servant was not doing his job well, it was either because he was arrogant or because he was neglecting his master because he was not favored.

"This, this..." Little Jinzi was instantly covered in sweat, feeling bitter inside. He was really unlucky. Why wasn't he here when his master came? What should he do?

"Master, it was I who sent Xiao Jinzi out to buy some trinkets. Please don't frighten him, or I'll be left without anyone to serve me." Yin Qingyi happened to witness this scene when she came out. Seeing the frightened Xiao Jinzi, Yin Qingyi spoke up to defuse the situation. It wasn't that she was overly compassionate; she genuinely thought Xiao Jinzi was a talented individual. Don't think she didn't know what Xiao Jinzi had been up to lately. With his silver tongue, few servants or eunuchs disliked him. Therefore, Yin Qingyi still wanted to bring Xiao Jinzi under her wing. Although it might require considerable effort, she had plenty of time!
