After Yin Qingyi finished eating, everyone gathered in this room.
“Master, please give this old servant a straight answer. This siege of the manor is definitely different from the last one. Last time, you didn’t gather everyone together.” Granny Naqi looked at the people in the room and whispered.
“Granny, this time is indeed different. The weather—it seems—is about to change.” After pointing to the sky, Yin Qingyi said nothing more; she had already made it very clear.
"This!!! Is what Master said true?" Granny Qi's eyes widened instantly, staring at Yin Qingyi in disbelief.
“Of course, how could I joke about something like this?” Yin Qingyi gently tugged at Granny Naqi, making her sit down. The two of them spoke in hushed tones, so that only the two of them could hear them. But when Granny Naqi suddenly stood up, everyone’s gaze turned towards her, seemingly casually.
"..." Granny Qi sat down, clearly still in a daze, staring blankly ahead.
“So we don’t know whether the people besieging the mansion are friends or foes. It’s better to gather everyone together. If something happens… we won’t panic too much.” Yin Qingyi continued, not to scare anyone, but to give Granny Qi a heads-up.
Granny Qi still didn't speak, but she had clearly listened, and her grip on Yin Qingyi's hand tightened noticeably.
"Master Yin, everything is arranged. This servant will wait outside. Please call if you need anything," Su Xiaobao's voice rang out from outside.
"Understood," Yin Qingyi replied softly.
This was destined to be a night where I couldn't sleep peacefully.
Royal Palace
At this point, the two sides had reached a fever pitch, and everyone was bloodthirsty.
Yinzhen's hand holding the sword had begun to tremble, exhausted from swinging it too many times, but he still stood firmly in front of Kangxi, blocking the sword beams aimed at him.
Yin Hengyi watched everything from the shadows. After confirming the time, he gave a barely perceptible nod in a certain direction. Just then, a sharp arrow pierced through the heavy guards and arrived in front of Kangxi, about to pierce his heart.
"Father, be careful!" Yinzhen shoved Kangxi aside, and the arrow grazed Kangxi's arm as it flew past.
"Fourth Prince, are you alright?" Kangxi turned around to check on Yinzhen after being pushed away.
"Your Majesty, I am fine, please don't worry." Yinzhen shook his head.
"Alright, hold on a little longer, the reinforcements should be here soon." Kangxi nodded, calculating the time; they should be arriving soon.
"Is Father Emperor waiting for Longkodo's reinforcements? Then I can only say that it's better not to wait. Your abdication now will save lives." Yinreng below seemed to be able to hear the conversation between the two, directly shattering Kangxi's plans.
"You unfilial son, what have you done?" Kangxi looked down at Yinreng with uncontrollable rage.
"Your Majesty, I did nothing but employ a little trick. Once everything settles down, Longkodo will naturally emerge." Yinreng smiled, a smile of absolute certainty.
"You!" Kangxi pointed at Yinreng, too angry to speak.
"Father, don't be angry. Look, your reinforcements are gone now. How long are you going to hold on? Are you going to rely on the Fourth Prince?" Yinreng's smile became even brighter.
"Hmph, Yinreng, give up on that idea. Even if I die, I will not pass the throne to you. Even if you sit on the throne, it will be illegitimate and the whole world will condemn you as a traitor! You obtained this position by murdering your father!" Kangxi's face turned red with anger as he pointed at Yinreng and said fiercely.
"Since that's the case, then Father Emperor, you can't blame your son! There's no need to hold back; the lives of those present are irrelevant!" Yinreng's smile vanished, replaced by a somber tone.
With that utterance, the number of people in the hall instantly dwindled, all of them being slain by the men brought by Yinreng. However, the martial arts skills of the men brought by Yinreng were exceptionally high.
Yinzhen frowned slightly as he observed everything. The person should have arrived by now; why hadn't they come yet? He couldn't help but shift his gaze to Yin Hengyi's hiding place, but unfortunately, he couldn't see anything. However, Yinzhen was certain that Yin Hengyi was there. Turning back, Yinzhen gripped his sword tightly. No matter what, he wouldn't abandon his father, even if it meant death. But thinking of the little fox still in the manor, Yinzhen felt a pang of reluctance. If he died here, what would become of the little fox?
In that brief moment of distraction, Yinzhen immediately sustained two wounds.
"Yinzhen, Yinzhen, how are you?" Kangxi helped Yinzhen, who was backing away.
Just then, the gate to the palace was kicked open, and Longkodo arrived with reinforcements. Upon seeing this, Yinzhen's vision went black and he fainted. He had been exhausted from the fighting for the past few hours and was only standing by sheer willpower. Seeing Longkodo and knowing that his father would be alright, he felt relieved and collapsed.
Yinzhen had no idea what happened after that. When he regained consciousness, it was already the afternoon of the next day.
"Your Highness, you're finally awake! You scared me to death!" Su Peisheng was standing guard by Yinzhen's side and noticed him as soon as he woke up.
"Su Peisheng?" Yinzhen's voice was hoarse as he frowned at Su Peisheng, his mind still somewhat confused.
"Yes, yes, Your Majesty. Please have some water to soothe your throat." Su Peisheng brought the water and fed it to Yinzhen.
"How is Father Emperor? How are Tai, and Second Brother?" Yinzhen finally remembered after drinking some water and hurriedly asked.
"Your Majesty, rest assured, His Majesty is well. Lord Longkodo arrived just in time. As for the deposed crown prince—His Majesty has decreed that he be placed under lifelong confinement in the Imperial Clan Court, and no one is allowed to visit him." Su Peisheng didn't really understand why the deposed crown prince, who was going to kill him anyway, wouldn't just kill him directly to save trouble. Why put him under lifelong confinement? But he only dared to think this to himself; he didn't dare to ask.
"Is everything alright in the manor?" Yinzhen was not surprised when he heard this. His father had deep feelings for his second brother, and even if his second brother had done such a thing, he would not really have the heart to kill him.
"Everything is fine in the manor. The soldiers only surrounded the manor but did not go in to fight. The people in the manor were just a little frightened." Su Peisheng went back once after he learned that his master was alright after the palace coup ended. After finding out that everything was alright, he returned to Yinzhen's side. He reassured Yinzhen when he asked about it.
"That's good. Let's go, I'll go see Father Emperor and then we'll go back to the manor." Only then was Yinzhen completely relieved. As long as the little fox was alright, that was all that mattered. He got up to put on his shoes.
"Fourth Prince, why are you up? Quickly lie down." Kangxi suddenly came to the door and, seeing Yinzhen get up, quickly came in and pressed Yinzhen back onto the bed.
