Chapter 50 Staying Up All Night

"Princess, it's time to get up. The hour of Hai (9-11 PM) is almost over, it's time to stay up all night." Qiuju whispered in Yin Qingyi's ear.

"Hmm, want to sleep a little longer?" Yin Qingyi frowned slightly and slowly turned over.

"Princess, if you fall asleep any longer, you won't be able to see the fireworks you want to see." Qiuju knew that her princess had been wanting to see this for a long time, and had been talking about it for the past few days. If she let her princess fall asleep now and miss the fireworks, she was afraid that her princess would sulk again.

"Huh? Fireworks? Fireworks!" Yin Qingyi was still a little dazed and hadn't thought of it at first. After muttering to herself, she opened her eyes and struggled to get up.

“Yes.” Qiuju helped Yin Qingyi up.

"What time is it now?" Yin Qingyi asked, holding Qiuju's hand.

"It'll be midnight in a quarter of an hour," Qiuju answered honestly.

"Then hurry up and get dressed, I want to go out and see," Yin Qingyi said quickly.

When Yin Qingyi arrived at the door fully dressed, it was exactly midnight.

With a loud "bang," the sky above the imperial city lit up as a firework burst into bloom.

Yinzhen's Prince's residence was not too far from the capital, so he could see it very clearly.

Yin Qingyi stood at the door. The moment the fireworks burst open, they illuminated the world, then quickly disappeared. But soon after, one after another, fireworks bloomed in the sky, their sounds never ceasing.

In the palace, Yinzhen stood among a group of people, watching the fireworks in the sky, but his heart had already flown far away. He had watched them every year, and at first he found them somewhat interesting, but after watching them for more than twenty years, Yinzhen had long since become immune to them.

He was only thinking about the little woman in Luoxue Pavilion. She seemed quite interested in this, but he wondered if she had seen him yet, or if she was already asleep.

Luoxuexuan

As Yin Qingyi watched the fireworks, her smile never faded. She ordered someone to bring over a chair, and Yin Qingyi sat in the courtyard watching the fireworks. Granny Qi added a cloak and a hot water bottle for Yin Qingyi, and placed two braziers at her feet, just in case this ancestor got cold while watching the fireworks.

After all, the fireworks won't be over anytime soon. Judging from the way the princess is, she probably won't go back after watching for a while. If we don't want to spoil the princess's fun, then we can only add some warm clothes for her.

The fireworks display lasted for a full half hour before finally stopping. Yin Qingyi was still somewhat reluctant to leave, but it was clearly over, and she couldn't see any more while sitting, so she had to go back inside.

Once inside, Yin Qingyi had only been awake for a short time and was far from sleepy. However, she had nothing to do. She didn't want to sit there listlessly, nor did she want to read the play scripts, mainly because they were uninteresting. Yinzhen wouldn't allow her to read the more interesting ones anyway. So, she decided to find something fun to do herself.

"Granny, is there anything fun we can do?" Yin Qingyi couldn't think of anything to do right away, and sighed inwardly, she should have prepared earlier.

“Fun? No, in the past, we would just sit together and chat while staying up all night, and then go back to rest when it was time.” Granny Naqi thought for a moment and shook her head.

"This is so boring! By the way, is there any Go?" Yin Qingyi pouted and lay down, but after a while she looked up again and asked.

“Yes. But Princess, don’t you not know how to play Go?” Granny Qi nodded. But she didn’t understand why Yin Qingyi wanted to play Go.

"Just go and get it. Once it's here, I'll show you how to play it." Yin Qingyi urged. Let's play this for tonight. Although it's not very interesting, it'll do. Tomorrow, I'll have Xiao Jinzi find someone to make some toys that she wants.

After Xiao Jinzi brought the Go set, Yin Qingyi explained the rules of Gomoku to them. The rules were very simple, and Yin Qingyi only explained them once and then demonstrated them, so everyone understood.

"The loser will have a piece of paper stuck to their face. Now, Granny, you'd like to play a game with me first." Seeing that everyone nodded and said they knew how, Yin Qingyi was about to start. Granny Qi was the oldest, so of course she had to go first.

"Well, this old servant won't play anymore. You, Princess, should play with Qiuju and the other young girls." Granny Naqi waved her hands repeatedly. What kind of image would it be for someone her age to play with young girls like the Princess?

"Alright, Qiuju, you go first." Yin Qingyi didn't insist and looked at Qiuju.

What could Qiuju do? Of course, she went ahead with it. Gege seemed very interested right now, and she couldn't let Gege down.

"You can't let me have my way. If I find out you're letting me have my way, I'll punish you," Yin Qingyi said before they started. Don't think she didn't know what these people were thinking.

“...Yes, Princess.” Qiu Ju’s face showed some embarrassment when Yin Qingyi saw through her thoughts.

Yin Qingyi then started playing games with Qiuju.

"Hahaha, Qiuju, you lost. You weren't letting me win on purpose, were you?" Fifteen minutes later, Yin Qingyi's loud laughter rang out.

"Princess, I just started playing, and I really didn't let you win. You're so amazing!" Qiu Ju's pleading voice rang out.

"Then I'll stick it on." Yin Qingyi took a piece of paper, moistened it with some water, and stuck it on Qiu Ju's cheek.

“Next, Mingyue.” Yin Qingyi smiled happily; this was the happiest moment she had experienced in the past six months since she arrived.

They played until late into the night, and everyone had some kind of paper stuck to their face, including Yin Qingyi, though only three.

"You guys really let me off the hook! Humph, everyone get their monthly salary deducted!" Yin Qingyi said angrily.

"Princess, we really didn't!" The group almost knelt before Yin Qingyi. How did playing a game end up costing them their monthly salary?
