Chapter 138 Chen Shuting's Family Affairs

It's clear that Chen Shuting's mother is a very kind and simple rural woman.

"Sigh, it's an old problem, rheumatism. A couple of days ago, I went to work in the fields and suddenly couldn't get up. My legs feel like they're being bitten by bugs."

Tang Ping said, "The rheumatism isn't too serious. Go to a larger hospital for a checkup."

Chen Shuting's mother said, "Xiaoting told me the same thing and kept urging me to go, but at my age, it's normal to have some health problems. I can just tough it out. How much would it cost to go to a big hospital?"

"Anything that can be solved with money isn't a problem."

Tang Ping was speaking.

Chen Shuting had already brought out two bowls of noodles from the kitchen, which was a small hut built in the backyard. Chen Shuting called out, "Tang Ping, stop chatting and come out to eat."

"Auntie, I'll go get something to eat first, and we'll talk again later," Tang Ping said, getting up.

Chen Shuting's mother was a little embarrassed and said, "Oh, okay, okay. Sigh, my room is so dirty, I'm really sorry."

"It's nothing. When my grandma was sick and lying in bed, I was the one who emptied her bedpan."

As Tang Ping spoke, he reached out and tucked the blanket around Chen Shuting's mother again before coming out.

"What did you talk about with your mom?" Chen Shuting asked.

Tang Ping laughed and said, "Let's just chat casually."

Chen Shuting rolled her eyes at him: "Are you starving? Hurry up and eat. It's too late, and there's nothing else at home, so I just cooked some noodles."

"Good."

The noodles were cooked with green vegetables, and a few eggs were buried in the bowl.

Tang Ping and Zhao Wei were really starving, and they devoured two bowls in no time.

The two arrived too suddenly; although the rural house was large, there weren't many beds prepared.

Chen Shuting cleared out a room in the backyard for Zhao Wei to stay in, so Tang Ping had to squeeze into a bed with Chen Shuting.

It was only a little past eight o'clock in the evening, and the countryside was already completely quiet. In contrast, in Jinghai, the nightlife hadn't even started yet.

Lying in bed, Tang Ping was still wide awake. Seeing that Chen Shuting was also awake, he asked, "What happened at home? I heard from Xiaochen that you were bullied?"

"Nothing like that. I just had a few words with some villagers, and they pushed me a bit," Chen Shuting said.

Tang Ping asked, "Why?"

"Regarding the ancestral graves, the village secretary wants to dig a fishpond on the site of our family's ancestral graves and asks us to relocate the graves, but my dad disagrees." Chen Shuting seemed somewhat reluctant to mention it.

But Tang Ping probably also knew that Chen Shuting and his father didn't get along very well.

It is said that the two sides had a very unpleasant falling out because of Bai Jiangbo.

As for relocating graves, Tang Ping, who comes from a rural background, knows that many people are averse to this. They believe it's better to stay put than to move. Unless it's a mandatory requirement from the state, most people would absolutely not be willing to relocate graves casually.

Chen Shuting is an exception. The village party secretary wanted to privately contract the fishpond, but he domineeringly demanded that Chen Shuting's family relocate their graves without providing any compensation.

“Chen Dafa has a large family, with eight siblings, and he became the village party secretary, so he has a lot of influence in the village. Especially his son, Chen Fei, who is practically a bully in the village. He insists that our family's ancestral graves encroached on the village's collective land and demands compensation from us. It's completely turning black into white. That area behind the mountain used to be a barren hill; whoever reclaimed it, that became their farmland,” Chen Shuting said.

Where is Uncle?

When he first entered, Tang Ping had been wanting to ask a question, but he couldn't bring himself to say it.

“He was arrested by the local police station. Chen Fei brought some local thugs to our house to cause trouble. My dad couldn’t stand it and fought with them,” Chen Shuting said.

After hearing what had happened, Tang Ping roughly understood the situation.

During the day, Chen Fei brought a few thugs to the door to provoke them. When they saw that Chen Shuting was pretty, they started to grope her.

Chen Shuting's father couldn't hold back and picked up a hoe to fight them.

One of the thugs had his head broken and was bleeding when he lay on the ground screaming. Then the local police station came and took Chen Shuting's father away and detained him.

Chen Fei and those thugs became the victims, and even came to Chen Shuting's house to demand compensation for medical expenses.

Chen Shuting had no choice but to pay the other party three thousand yuan before they left.

“You’ve paid too much. This kind of minor injury can be fixed by applying some gentian violet. You paid three thousand at once. I reckon they’ll be tempted by the money and will come back tomorrow,” Tang Ping said, shaking his head.

Chen Shuting asked, "Then what should we do?"

"I'll handle it. We'll go to the police station tomorrow to get my uncle out, and then we'll settle accounts with them," Tang Ping said with a slight smile.

Logically speaking, Chen Shuting is a prominent figure in Jinghai, well-informed and shrewd in business.

However, she has little involvement in social affairs and lacks experience.

Hearing this, she felt much more at ease and unconsciously rested her head on Tang Ping's shoulder.

The two leaned against each other quietly, each able to hear the other's heartbeat.

Under the moonlight, Chen Shuting, though without makeup, was still stunningly beautiful.

Tang Ping felt a surge of desire and reached his hand inside her clothes, beginning his groping.

Chen Shuting quickly pressed down on his large hand, her pretty face flushed, and said, "No, Xiaochen is still here."

Tang Ping smiled awkwardly, but didn't pull his hand away. He held the full breasts and played with them for a while before finally going to sleep, satisfied.

Chen Shuting got up early the next morning.

She was wearing a simple purple short-sleeved shirt and black shorts that reached her calves.

When Tang Ping woke up, he saw Chen Shuting sitting in front of the round mirror, taking the hair tie from her wrist and simply tying her hair into a young woman's hairstyle.

Seeing Tang Ping staring at her, Chen Shuting blushed slightly and turned around to ask, "What's wrong? Is it too unfashionable?"

“No, you look good no matter how you dress up,” Tang Ping said.

Chen Shuting scolded, "You're just all talk. Get up, my mom made breakfast."

"Is Auntie up?" Tang Ping asked.

"It was just rheumatism and bone pain, which would have been fine after a few days of rest. But when she saw you come, she insisted on getting up to cook you a meal, and I couldn't stop her."

Breakfast was plentiful, consisting of white porridge with many side dishes.

After finishing their meal, Tang Ping took Zhao Wei to the local police station.

After they came out, Tang Ping realized that the two of them didn't have a car and had to walk several kilometers to get to the village.

"I should have brought the car," Tang Ping said speechlessly.

Zhao Wei shook his head and said, "It's difficult to drive here either, look at this road."

Let's go.

Tang Ping was somewhat helpless and was about to walk to the township when, at the village intersection, a large truck carrying timber was passing by Chenjia Village.

A car was following behind the truck.

Tang Ping hurriedly chased after him, intending to hitch a ride, but unexpectedly, the car window rolled down, and Old Sheng poked his head out, looking delighted, and said, "Boss Tang, what brings you to our village?"

"Old Sheng? What are you doing here?"

Tang Ping was also surprised.
