"I've remembered it clearly."
Li Hui was rather shy and didn't speak, so Li Qiang answered.
“Okay, whether it’s selling or renting, you have to record every transaction in this notebook. Look, this one is for renting, this one is for selling, and this one is for inventory. Finally, there’s the VCD player. If a customer wants to buy it, start at 350. If they really want to negotiate, don’t go below 220. You can figure out the middle ground yourselves,” Tang Ping said.
Li Qiang and Li Hui seemed to understand but not quite.
Tang Ping smiled and said, "No rush. I'm just giving you a general overview first. These things are very simple. You'll gradually understand them as you follow me for the next few days."
Tang Ping keeps records of everything from inventory to rentals and sales, which makes it easier to purchase goods and check revenue.
In addition, Tang Ping, along with the Li brothers, categorized all the discs, such as Jackie Chan series, Andy Lau series, Stephen Chow and Chow Yun-fat series, etc. Categorizing them made it easier for customers to find what they wanted, saving them a lot of time.
After everything was settled, it was getting late, so Tang Ping invited the neighbors who had helped him to his house for a meal. His elderly mother had already prepared a late-night snack of pork offal porridge and turtle soup.
The portions were so large that we couldn't finish them all, so we invited our neighbors from upstairs and downstairs.
To Tang Ping's surprise, a woman named Huang Cuicui also came. She lived in a rented apartment upstairs from Tang Ping's house.
Huang Cuicui is indeed quite beautiful, with a good figure and fair skin. She is a typical Sichuan girl, no wonder she caught the eye of the bigwigs above.
The thought of Huang Cuicui made Tang Ping uneasy. If nothing unexpected happened, Huang Cuicui would die soon because of the recording pen.
But Tang Ping didn't interfere much; he wasn't God, and he wasn't that saintly.
He was just curious; he never got to see Huang Cuicui's real face in TV dramas, but he never expected to see her in real life.
It's a pity about Old Mo; he's probably still in jail.
Old Mo said, "I want to eat fish."
Tang Ping still felt a little guilty, and out of respect for Lao Mo, he decided to at least give Huang Cuicui a little reminder.
Everyone ate their fill, and before leaving, they said they would definitely come back to support them the next day.
In the kitchen, Tang Ping's elderly mother was tidying up when he asked curiously, "Mom, when did Huang Cuicui move in upstairs?"
"Last month."
The elderly mother suddenly glared at Tang Ping warily: "Why are you asking this? Tang Ping, I'm warning you, don't get any funny ideas."
Tang Ping was speechless: "Mom, what are you saying? Is your son that kind of person? I'm just curious."
"Sigh, Cui Cui is such a pitiful woman. Her husband is in jail, and she's pregnant. I heard she suffered a lot to give birth to the child. You should wash up and go to bed. Isn't the grand opening tomorrow?"
Under his mother's supervision, Tang Ping had no choice but to obediently go back to his room to sleep after taking a bath.
The next morning, the audio-visual store officially opened.
The opening of the small shop was not a grand affair. Tang Ping had few relatives, so he ordered the two flower baskets himself and set off 10,000 firecrackers.
Everyone was busy with work, and not many neighbors had agreed to come last night. Only a few scattered customers came in, some of whom rented two DVDs out of politeness.
The entire morning's revenue was less than 50 yuan.
The two brothers, Li Qiang and Li Hui, seemed to be deeply affected. Li Qiang said, "Brother Ping, how about we reduce our salaries a bit?"
They had nothing to do in the shop, and they seemed a little embarrassed to receive such high wages for nothing.
Tang Ping, however, remained calm and composed, and said with a smile, "Don't panic, it's not time yet. By the way, if you two really can't sit still, take this to the factory area to distribute, or give it to your friends, just consider it advertising."
As he spoke, Tang Ping took out a stack of flyers from the drawer, the cheapest kind, with black and white text on white paper, which introduced the prices of the audio-visual store, and then used some popular Hong Kong movies as a gimmick.
When Tang Ping was making the shop sign, he had already considered that business might not be good, so he made preparations in advance.
"OK!"
Seeing that there was something to do, Li Qiang and Li Hui immediately took action.
Tang Ping was the only one left in the shop. He wasn't in a hurry and leisurely started brewing tea using Uncle Cheng's tea set.
A few guests arrived sporadically, and then Gao Qiqiang actually showed up around lunchtime, bringing a pair of flower baskets.
Tang Ping was surprised and quickly ushered him in to sit down.
As the two drank tea, Gao Qiqiang said with a smile, "Aping, why didn't you tell me you were opening a video store? I had to ask around to find out. You haven't been to the market these past few days. Did your fish stall close down?"
"I quit."
Tang Ping shook his head and said, "How much money can you make at a fish stall? It's hard work and tiring, and you still have to pay protection money to Tang Xiaolong and his gang. I've given up. By the way, could you help me see if anyone at the market is willing to take over?"
"That's true, a good record store can make money. I'll ask around for you, and I'll contact you if I find any. I'll pick out a couple of discs too!"
Tang Ping smiled and said, "Thank you so much for taking such good care of my business, Brother Qiang."
"No, Asheng and Xiaolan like to watch it."
Gao Qiqiang is indeed a very comfortable person to be around, as can be seen from the opening of the Tangping Audio Store.
No one else came to the market, but Gao Qiqiang made time to come and even bought two flower baskets, which was quite a show of support.
Tang Ping felt a little guilty, so when he saw him off, he reminded him, "Brother Qiang, the market will be reorganized next year, so don't give Tang Xiaolong any gifts. He won't give you a good spot."
"Sigh, I'll just have to take it one step at a time and try my best."
Gao Qiqiang sighed.
