That night.
When Chu Mo left the study, he was informed by a guard that the princess was waiting for him in her bedroom to have dinner together.
He frowned.
He had always dined in the main hall, never in his bedroom.
What tricks is Jiang Fei playing now?
After a moment of contemplation, Chu Mo suppressed his emotions and walked towards the bedroom.
Inside the bedroom, the candlelight flickered gently, casting a hazy glow.
Jiang Fei was sitting at the table, her hands supporting her chin as if she were thinking about something. Her eyebrows were slightly lowered, and her long black hair was draped down her back like the finest silk.
Chu Mo glanced at her hair and suddenly remembered the tingling sensation of her hair brushing against his chest last night.
He suddenly lowered his eyes and coughed softly, covering his mouth.
Hearing the noise, Jiang Fei quickly turned her head. Her previously dark eyes lit up instantly, sparkling as she looked at him: "Chu Mo, you're back!"
Chu Mo met her gaze, paused for a moment, and then nodded: "Why did you suddenly decide to have dinner in your room today..."
The sound paused for a moment when the food on the table was seen.
In front of Jiang Fei, he had long been accustomed to pretending, not only about his feelings, but also about his preferences.
Even though he disliked sweet and spicy foods, he endured them because she liked them, even though he felt unwell after each use.
But today...
"Come and try the food I made myself," Jiang Fei walked up to him, pulled his sleeve and sat down. "Three Delicacies Soup, blanched okra, and osmanthus pork. I put a lot of effort into it, you must eat it all!"
Chu Mo sat down following her lead, his gaze still fixed on the steaming, lightly seasoned dishes on the table.
The favorability rating above my head fluctuated slightly.
Jiang Fei ladled out a bowl of Three Beauties Soup and handed it to him: "What are you thinking about? Eat up!"
The soup was still hot, and the bowl was almost scalding. Chu Mo looked down at the bowl and asked, "Did you make this?"
“Yes!” Jiang Fei nodded, her eyes full of anticipation as she leaned closer to him. “You should try it!”
Chu Mo took a spoon and scooped up a spoonful of the soup. It was very fragrant and had a rich, warm flavor. "It's delicious," he said with a smile.
"And there's the food I made!" Jiang Fei busied herself putting some more food into his bowl. "You should try some too!"
Chu Mo glanced at her, took a couple of bites, paused when he got to the okra, and then said, "Very good."
"Really?" Jiang Fei looked at him suspiciously, took a couple of bites, frowned, and said, "The osmanthus pork tastes burnt, how can it be good!" She was about to pick it up and throw it away.
"I think it's just right." Chu Mo stopped her hand, then took another bite. "It has a unique flavor."
Jiang Fei stared at him intently, her eyes unblinking, until Chu Mo put down his chopsticks and looked at her. Only then did she murmur, "How can you be so good..."
Chu Mo's hand paused slightly, then he smiled and said, "Feifei, you are my wife, you don't need to do these things..."
Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Fei suddenly leaned close to his face.
Chu Mo was slightly taken aback, and looked down at her. Strands of her hair floated down to her front as she moved, brushing against the back of his hand, causing a slight itch.
"Now that I've done it, shouldn't I get some compensation?" Jiang Fei asked.
Chu Mo casually withdrew his hand: "What kind of compensation do you want?"
Jiang Fei's eyes lit up: "I haven't left the house since I was poisoned. Will you come with me to the street tomorrow?"
Chu Mo frowned slightly: "Your body..."
"It's all better now!" Jiang Fei quickly stood up, turned around, and tugged at his sleeve. "Is it alright?"
Chu Mo glanced at his cuffs and finally nodded.
Jiang Fei's eyes lit up, and she smiled brightly.
Chu Mo looked at her as if she had handed over all her joys and sorrows to him.
He enjoys the feeling of being in control.
After finishing his dinner, Chu Mo still had some things to take care of, so he returned to his study.
The candlelight in the study was brighter than in the bedroom. Chu Mo quietly watched the leaping flames, his hand gently pressing against his stomach, where warmth still lingered.
Tonight doesn't seem as difficult as usual.
The next moment, Chu Mo snapped back to his senses.
What is he thinking? Jiang Fei tonight... is clearly acting too strangely!
How did she know his preferences? Had she already become suspicious of him?
Chu Mo's gaze gradually turned cold. After a long while, he smiled and said, "Someone come here."
The guard silently flew in, knelt down, and respectfully said, "Master."
Chu Mo lowered his head: "Send a few people to keep an eye on Jiang Fei's side. If there is any unusual activity, report to me immediately."
"yes."
Meanwhile, Jiang Fei was lazily lying in bed, pretending to be asleep, when the system suddenly spoke:
[Chu Mo's favorability +10, current favorability -20.]
But after a moment he said:
[Chu Mo's favorability -15, current favorability -35.]
Jiang Fei: You dog of a man.
...
The capital city, right under the emperor's nose, was bustling and lively.
Houses with upturned eaves stand side by side, and the cries of vendors can be heard incessantly from both sides of the road.
Candied hawthorns, pastries, and roasted chestnuts are all available.
The exquisite pastries are printed with bright red words, the sugar coating on the candied hawthorns is crystal clear, and the roasted chestnuts on the street corner are emitting a sweet aroma.
Jiang Fei suggested going out to spend more time with Chu Mo, but now that they were out on the street, she was genuinely interested and enthusiastically explored the surrounding area.
Chu Mo followed quietly beside her, a smile always playing on his lips.
But his eyes, half-closed, held a hint of inquiry.
Even though Jiang Fei's personality remained flamboyant, he still sensed that she was somewhat different, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
But being suspicious is never wrong.
Thinking this, Chu Mo suddenly felt something flash past his eyes, and his lips were touched by a soft, small thing.
He stared intently.
Jiang Fei held a piece of rice cake in her hand and presented it to his lips like a treasure, her eyes sparkling, completely unlike her sickly appearance a few days ago: "Try it, this rice cake isn't too sweet, it's delicious."
Chu Mo looked at her; she had already eaten, and there was still some soybean powder on her bright red lips.
"Try it!" Jiang Fei said, offering the food to him again when he didn't respond.
Chu Mo lowered his eyes, slightly parted his lips and ate the rice cake, but his lips inadvertently touched her fingers.
Jiang Fei was taken aback, quickly withdrew her hand, and blushed slightly.
Her usually domineering eyes now showed a hint of shyness.
Chu Mo looked at her somewhat flustered appearance, his thin lips pursed slightly, as if he still felt a trace of the touch from just now.
It's a bit chilly.
People who have been poisoned by the cold flower have a constitution that tends to be cold.
His expression hardened slightly, and he turned his gaze away from her.
The rice cake is soft, chewy, and fragrant, and it's definitely not too sweet.
"What's that?" Jiang Fei suddenly exclaimed and walked over there.
Chu Mo followed her figure and saw a group of people gathered in front of a stall, where the aroma of sugarcane was wafting out.
The stall owner held a copper ladle in his hand, filled with melted, bright yellow cane sugar, and skillfully painted and inscribed words on the heated disc.
Chu Mo frowned; the fragrance was too cloying.
But Jiang Fei was already standing in front of the stall, watching with great interest. Then he said something to the stall owner and handed him a tael of silver.
The stall owner looked at the silver with a flattered expression, then glanced at the wealthy and noble woman in front of him, and nodded hurriedly.
Jiang Fei smiled, took the copper spoon from his hand, sat in his seat, and began to draw carefully, little by little.
A bright and beautiful woman sat in front of a simple stall, easily attracting everyone's attention, and the number of onlookers grew larger and larger.
Chu Mo paused for a moment, then took two steps forward, only vaguely seeing through the gaps in the crowd a woman quietly creating sugar paintings.
Her eyes and brows were very serious, and her silky black hair fell to her shoulders, gleaming faintly in the sunlight.
It was as if... she wasn't just drawing a sugar figurine, but pouring all her heart into drawing her dearest loved ones.
It makes people inexplicably jealous of the paintings she creates.
In the crowd, someone murmured the first character Jiang Fei had written: "Chu..."
Chu Mo's heart skipped a beat. After hesitating for a moment, he took two steps forward and finally saw what Jiang Fei had written.
Chu Mo.
His name.
He wrote it carefully, little by little, and the handwriting was crooked and not very pretty.
Jiang Fei seemed to sense something and suddenly looked up at him.
Among the crowd of ordinary people, Jiang Fei stood out so flamboyantly in his dawn-colored brocade robes. His cheeks were flushed, and there was a thin layer of sweat on the tip of his nose. His snow-white skin was even more translucent. His blank eyes lit up the moment he saw Jiang Fei, and then he smiled at him.
Chu Mo stared intently at that smile, then instantly looked away, his hands clenched tightly, as if something had gently bumped against his heart.
He loathed that feeling.
Chu Mo turned around and strode towards the teahouse not far away.
He never expected to run into those arrogant and domineering princes.
—Back when he was still a hostage in the palace, these princes had humiliated him several times at palace banquets.
"Who do we have here? It turns out to be the Seventh Prince of the Great Wei!" A man dressed in a loose, pea-green robe walked up to Chu Mo and mocked him.
“Brother Zhang, you can’t say that,” another man laughed. “Now everyone knows that this is the most distinguished prince consort!”
"Unparalleled in nobility? Hahaha," the man laughed, "He's nothing but an unwanted burden..."
Chu Mo looked down at the people in front of him. From childhood to adulthood, he had heard more hurtful words than these. He also knew from a young age that a small lack of patience could ruin a great plan.
After a moment, he turned his gaze away and walked to the side.
"Don't go!" The prince stopped him. "My lord, I'm on my way to the pleasure house!"
As he spoke, he moved closer to him. "I heard your mother came from a place like this. Tell me, are your skills in bed comparable to your mother's..."
A bloodthirsty glint flashed in Chu Mo's eyes, his expression turned cold, and his fingers twitched slightly.
A sharp shout suddenly rang out from behind: "How dare you!"
Then, a crisp sound of a whip cutting through the air rang out, and with a "smack," it struck the prince's face.
A bloody gash appeared on the prince's face instantly. He covered his face and wailed, "Who?"
"This princess!" Jiang Fei stepped forward, whip in hand, her face flushed with anger. "Who do you think you are, daring to insult this princess's people!"
As he spoke, still not satisfied, he lashed the prince several times with the whip, each lash landing squarely on his face.
Several bloody marks instantly appeared on the prince's face, dripping blood continuously. Even as he lay on the ground, he still begged for mercy: "Princess, spare my life."
Jiang Fei looked at the prince curled up on the ground, snorted coldly, threw the riding whip to the coachman beside her, and turned to pull Chu Mo toward the princess's residence.
He walked silently the whole way without saying a word.
Chu Mo glanced at the person curled up and writhing on the ground, then at Jiang Fei's hand gripping his fist.
Her hands were cold.
It was cold because of the poison he administered.
But she protected him.
She hadn't changed; she was still just as arrogant. The prince's face was ripped open, and he'd probably be left with several scars.
But why...?
"How are you? Are you hurt?" Jiang Fei finally stopped at the entrance of the princess's residence, turning to look at Chu Mo. "Why didn't you fight back? What if I can't protect you in the future..."
Her voice stopped abruptly, her expression changed, and she finally fell silent.
Chu Mo frowned, looked at her face, and after a long while said, "I'm fine."
Jiang Fei felt relieved, but then suddenly remembered something, pulled out an oil paper package from in front of her, and her expression turned sour: "It really is broken!"
Chu Mo looked down and watched her unpack the oil paper package.
The sugar figurine of "Chu Mo".
The character “楚” is broken, only the character “墨” is still half intact.
Jiang Fei looked at the sugar figurine with regret and whispered, "There's only one 'black' left."
That's very much like the nature of a dog of a man.
As she spoke, she gently licked it; it was very sweet, with a hint of sesame.
Chu Mo watched as she cautiously stuck out her tongue to lick the candy and then quickly withdrew it. His heart skipped a beat, and he felt as if she wasn't licking a candy figurine, but rather... him.
Chu Mo suddenly took half a step back.
"Chu Mo?" Jiang Fei asked, puzzled.
Chu Mo didn't look at her, and said the next moment, "There are still important matters in the study." After saying that, he turned and walked into the mansion.
Jiang Fei watched his retreating figure, smiled, and then slowly broke the sugar figurine in her hand into pieces, picked up a piece, and put it in her mouth.
Chu Mo's favorability rating: -20.
...
I returned from the market before noon.
Jiang Fei rested for a while before lazily walking towards the kitchen.
After seeing Jiang Fei personally prepare dinner for Chu Mo yesterday, the imperial chefs knew perfectly well that the little princess wanted to please the "beauty," so they prepared the ingredients and then withdrew.
Jiang Fei looked at the stove as usual: "Lu Zhi."
Lu Zhi was still dressed in black. When he came in, he glanced at her, then at the stove, and without saying anything, he squatted down and started a fire.
Jiang Fei smiled; she liked this kind of obedience.
She didn't say anything more while cooking, but when she was serving the food, she suddenly remembered something, picked up a slice of lotus root, and looked at Lu Zhi, whose face was still clean after starting the fire: "Lu Zhi."
Lu Zhi looked up, puzzled.
Jiang Fei brought the lotus root slices to his lips: "Can you taste them for me?"
Lu Zhi was taken aback and stepped back.
Jiang Fei's eyes widened: "What? You don't want to?"
Lu Zhi paused for a moment, then shook his head: "This was made by the princess for the prince consort..."
“He didn’t enjoy his food yesterday,” Jiang Fei said. “My tastes are different from his, so you can try it for me.”
Lu Zhi looked at the pristine white lotus root slices before him: "I'll do it myself..."
Jiang Fei looked up at him, refusing to let go.
Lu Zhi hesitated for a long time before finally opening his mouth and eating the lotus root slice. He chewed it a couple of times and then swallowed it.
"How does it taste?" Jiang Fei stared at him intently.
Lu Zhi took a half step back until he could no longer smell her faint fragrance before saying, "Everything the princess makes is delicious."
Jiang Fei frowned, then picked up another piece of cucumber: "What about this one?"
Lu Zhi lowered his head, no longer looking at her: "It's delicious."
Jiang Fei thought for a moment, picked up a lettuce and rolled it in the salt shaker. The green lettuce was coated with salt particles, and she put it into Lu Zhi's mouth again: "Try it again."
Lu Zhi habitually opened his mouth to eat, then his expression froze. His mouth was filled with an alarming saltiness, so salty that his throat itched and he almost gagged.
"Don't vomit!" Jiang Fei commanded.
Lu Zhi was slightly taken aback, but ultimately forced himself to swallow it.
"Is it good?" Jiang Fei asked, leaning closer to him.
Lu Zhi's throat tightened, and he paused for a moment.
"Hmm?" Jiang Fei raised an eyebrow and asked in return.
Lu Zhi hesitated for a moment, then gently shook his head.
Jiang Fei laughed out loud, seemingly with great joy. In the quiet kitchen, only the woman's clear laughter could be heard.
Lu Zhi slowly raised his head and looked at the woman in front of him. She was dressed in a dawn-colored dress, and no one could match the red color better than her.
Jiang Fei's laughter finally subsided a bit, and she picked up a bowl of water and handed it to him: "So, you have to tell the truth from now on!"
Lu Zhi looked at Qing Shui, still somewhat dazed.
"Hey, isn't it salty?" Jiang Fei winked at him.
Lu Zhi suddenly lowered his head, took the water, tilted his head back and drank several mouthfuls. His throat felt much better, but his chest felt inexplicably sore and swollen.
Jiang Fei glanced at the favorability rating above his head: 15.
She smiled and said, "Put these in a food box and I'll send them to the prince consort."
Lu Zhi looked at her for a while, then lowered his head to pack the food into a lunchbox. His expression gradually returned to calm, and the fluctuating level of affection he felt for her gradually cooled down.
Lu Zhi's favorability rating: 10.
Jiang Fei: "..."
...
study.
Chu Mo looked at the carrier pigeon in front of him.
Within two months, the situation in the Great Wei will completely collapse. At that time, he only needs to show up with his troops, stabilize the rebellion, and he will be able to achieve his long-cherished wish.
He no longer needed to rely on Jiang Fei to save his beloved.
Jiang Fei...
Chu Mo's expression tightened, and he suddenly felt a little irritated.
The rice cake I ate today, held in her fingertips; the image of her sitting behind the stall, diligently writing sugar figurines; even the image of her protecting him…
The ghost lingers.
But Rongrong is the one he truly desires. Everything he does is to avenge the humiliation of his childhood, to stand at the pinnacle of power, to make all those who humiliated him pay a bloody price, and also... to heal Rongrong, the first person to give him warmth.
Two knocks sounded on the door.
Chu Mo snapped out of his daze: "Who?"
"Me." A haunting voice.
Chu Mo took out a tinderbox and burned the letter to ashes before standing up, opening the door and looking at the woman outside. His gloomy and bloodthirsty brows had relaxed: "Feifei?"
"I've brought you lunch!" Jiang Fei smiled and patted the lunchbox in her hand. "You haven't eaten anything since you came back from the market, you must be starving!"
Chu Mo took the food box, smelling the faint aroma of the food, and felt a stirring in his stomach: "This kind of thing, let..."
“Servants can’t come!” Jiang Fei smiled at him. “I made it myself; it’s one of a kind!”
Chu Mo was stunned.
Jiang Fei hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "Chu Mo..."
"Um?"
"May I have lunch with you in the study?" Jiang Fei's voice trailed off. "There probably won't be many more opportunities..."
Chu Mo didn't hear the second half of the sentence clearly. He frowned, and his eyes unconsciously became cautious and suspicious.
The study was the only place in the entire princess's residence where he could relax, so why did she suddenly want to come in?
"I'm sorry, Feifei, I have something to do and I'm afraid I won't be able to take care of you," Chu Mo said softly.
"Oh." Jiang Fei's voice lowered, but she quickly looked up, squinted her eyes, and smiled, "Then you go ahead with your work, I won't bother you anymore!"
After saying that, he turned to leave.
"Wait a minute," Chu Mo called to her, turned around and pulled a book from deep inside the bookshelf and handed it to her, "I remember you once said you liked reading storybooks, and I happen to have some here."
Jiang Fei's eyes lit up: "Thank you, Chu Mo!"
Chu Mo smiled and said nothing more.
His smile vanished instantly as he watched her figure disappear from sight.
Chu Mo placed the food box on the desk, casually opened it, stared blankly at the three light and refreshing dishes inside for a moment, then quickly lowered his eyes and let out a sarcastic laugh.
Whether she has discovered anything or not, she needs to act quickly.
...
Jiang Fei returned to her room and casually flipped through the book in her hand, titled "The Jade Guanyin." The numerous and complex words gave her a headache.
The picture above is quite interesting.
After a moment's hesitation, Jiang Fei chuckled and called out, "Lu Zhi."
A series of very light footsteps sounded outside the door, but no one entered the room.
"Come in," Jiang Fei said again.
The footsteps hesitated for a moment before finally pushing open the door and entering.
Jiang Fei tossed the storybook to Lu Zhi: "Read it to me!"
Lu Zhi looked at the storybook. He knew, of course, that she was upset because Chu Mo had just rejected her request to have lunch with him. However, for some reason, he didn't want to read from the storybook…
"Why aren't you reading?" Jiang Fei asked, looking at him.
Lu Zhi pursed his lips: "May I not read it?"
Jiang Fei turned to look at him as if she had just met him: "Not bad, you know how to tell the truth now."
Lu Zhi remained silent.
"But I don't want to hear your truth," Jiang Fei scoffed. "Read it!"
Lu Zhi hesitated for a moment, then finally opened the storybook: "During the Shaoxing era, there was a man from Yan'an Prefecture in Guanzhong, who was afraid that spring would pass and was about to take many of the emperor's concubines on a spring outing..."
Lu Zhi's voice still carried the hoarseness of a young man, low and deep.
Jiang Fei listened half-heartedly, but could sense a hint of drowsiness in her voice. She simply leaned lazily against the bed and said, "You sit by the bed and read."
Lu Zhi glanced at the wooden stool beside the bed, then at the languid woman on the bed, and remained motionless for a long time.
Jiang Fei frowned: "Hmm?"
Lu Zhi lowered his head, knowing she wouldn't give up until she got what she wanted, and finally sat down on the edge of the bed: "...There was an old man in the shop, leading a daughter. How was she? Her hair was lightly styled like cicada wings, her eyebrows delicately arched like spring mountains. Her lips were crimson..."
As he finished reading, his voice suddenly stopped, his cheeks flushed, and he looked up at Jiang Fei on the bed.
She seemed to be asleep; the arrogance of her awake days was gone, replaced by a sense of tranquility, her brows slightly furrowed, much like... a woman from a storybook.
Suddenly, Jiang Fei let out a soft moan, without opening her eyes: "Why did you stop reading?"
Lu Zhi did not speak.
Jiang Fei slowly opened her eyes and looked at him: "How are your lips?" As she spoke, she slowly bent her jade-like foot, vaguely revealing a section of her calf.
Lu Zhifei quickly lowered his head, his throat tightening slightly: "A cherry adorned her crimson lips, rows of pearly teeth... like two lines of jade. Her lotus steps were half-bent, her voice like a nightingale's warbling... delicate and sweet..."
"Pfft." Jiang Fei laughed, sat up and took the storybook from Lu Zhi's hand, "Alright, alright, I'm tired, let's stop here for today."
Lu Zhifei quickly stood up.
Jiang Fei said slowly, "Remember to continue reading tomorrow."
Lu Zhi didn't say anything, but quickly left the room.
Jiang Fei looked at his fluctuating favorability rating, lowered her head, and suppressed her smile.
For the next few days, Jiang Fei prepared meals for Chu Mo every day. Chu Mo usually ate lunch alone in the study, and Jiang Fei did not try to keep him any longer. Every day, he would return to his room and have Lu Zhi read stories to him.
The storybook wasn't very long; she could understand what it was about by reading a little bit each day.
Lu Zhi's favorability rating gradually rose to 15.
study.
The guard knelt before the desk and said, "Princess Changning has not contacted anyone in the past few days. She usually goes to the kitchen or stays in her room. There has been nothing unusual about her."
Chu Mo listened to the guard's report with his eyes lowered. Jiang Fei had indeed been strangely well-behaved these past few days.
She rarely did this before.
Even when he refused to let her have lunch in the study, she would throw a huge tantrum, making a scene known to everyone in the mansion. And now…
“Oh, right,” the guard seemed to remember something else, “These past few days, Princess Changning’s guards have been going to the princess’s room. The guards are highly skilled in martial arts, and I dare not get too close. I wonder what’s going on.”
Chu Mo frowned.
Lu Zhi?
"Owner?"
"Go down." Chu Mo raised his hand slightly, and only after the guards disappeared did he turn around and look at the lunch box on the desk—which Jiang Fei had just delivered at noon.
Inside the food box, blanched lotus root slices and white clam and winter melon soup exude a delicate fragrance.
He had only eaten a few extra of those two dishes a few days ago, but she remembered it.
Jiang Fei and Lu Zhi.
Chu Mo lowered his eyes, a hint of anger rising in his heart.
He interpreted it as: no matter how much he disliked Jiang Fei, he would never allow her to have an affair with someone else behind his back.
Turning around, Chu Mo strode out of the study.
Today, Lu Zhizheng was reading a story about a man and woman who wanted to elope: "After the fourth watch, each of them set out with their gold and silver belongings. They had to eat and drink whenever they were hungry or thirsty, traveling by day and night, and eventually arrived in Quzhou..."
At this point, Lu Zhi stopped speaking and listened intently to the sounds outside the door.
There were footsteps.
Jiang Fei slightly opened her eyes: "Continue."
Lu Zhi paused for a moment, then continued reading, his voice calm and even.
As Chu Mo listened to the sound of storybooks being read from inside the room, his anger gradually subsided, but his brows remained furrowed.
The next moment he suddenly realized that the storybook seemed to be the one he had casually given her last time, "The Jade Guanyin".
Is it because of...him?
Inside the room.
Upon hearing the system report about the fluctuation in Chu Mo's favorability, Jiang Fei lowered her eyes and smiled faintly.
...
The next day, Jiang Fei went to the study as usual to deliver lunch.
“You drank too much bamboo shoot and pork soup a few days ago, so I made some more today. But bamboo shoots are cooling in nature, and your spleen and stomach are weak, so you shouldn’t drink too much.” Jiang Fei handed the food box to Chu Mo, smiled and gave him a few more instructions before turning to leave.
Chu Mo gazed at her retreating figure for a long time before slowly saying, "Shall we use them together?"
Jiang Fei froze, standing motionless for a long time before finally asking, "What?"
Chu Mo said, "You don't want to?"
“No,” Jiang Fei quickly shook her head, turned to look at him, her eyes sparkling, “Okay.”
After lighting the fire in the kitchen, Lu Zhi returned to his room and quietly calculated the time. When it was almost time, he lowered his eyes and walked expressionlessly toward the bedroom in the center.
The bedroom was very quiet today, without a sound.
He frowned.
“Guard Lu?” Green Bamboo came out of the room, looking at him with surprise in her eyes.
Lu Zhi glanced at the bedroom, which was empty except for the storybook lying forlornly on the table.
"The prince consort and the princess are having lunch together in the study!" Green Bamboo said with a smile upon seeing this.
Lu Zhi was taken aback, but after a moment he only nodded slightly and returned to his room.
She was naturally pleased that Chu Mo agreed to have lunch with her.
And he no longer needs to read stories to her, so he should be happy.
But why...?
My chest feels a little heavy.
