Chapter 52 During the Rainy Season, Daddy beckon, your little kitten...

Lin Fei covered Liang Yanzhe's eyes and read aloud, "You know nothing."

Liang Yanzhe grabbed Lin Fei's hand and said with a smile, "Feiwen, you should at least cover your ears."

In her haste, Lin Fei made a mistake and immediately moved her hand away, covering his ears: "Alright, this time you won't know anything."

The doorbell was still ringing, as domineering and unreasonable as the uninvited guest.

"You're not allowed to go." Lin Fei stared into his eyes.

Liang Yanzhe stood still: "If I don't go, she'll keep me on all night."

“I called the property management and had the police arrest her.” Lin Fei leaned against Liang Yanzhe’s chest, pouting in dissatisfaction. “I just don’t want you to go.”

She knows all too well the destructive power of one's family of origin.

It can take a long time to process a harsh word from someone else.

He held her waist, leaned down and kissed the corner of her lips. "It's okay, you're still here, aren't you?"

As long as she is there, he is not afraid.

Lin Fei pondered for a moment, then reluctantly stepped aside: "Alright, open the door."

Before letting go, Liang Yanzhe squeezed her hand, "Don't make that face."

"You still care about me?!" Lin Fei made an even more exaggerated and bitter expression.

Liang Yanzhe chuckled silently.

Now he was also caught in the crossfire.

If possible, Liang Yanzhe would not want to see him.

But there was no other way. He knew his grandmother too well. If he didn't see her today, she would keep coming tomorrow, the day after... until he was willing to meet her. It was better to meet her now and put an end to the trouble.

Lin Fei watched Liang Yanzhe's retreating figure as he walked towards the door, took a deep breath, strode forward, grabbed him, and pushed him behind her.

"I'll drive!" She couldn't bear to see him being treated coldly.

She cherishes people, how could she allow others to slander them?

Liang Yanzhe smiled and tacitly agreed. He didn't leave but stood behind Lin Fei.

Lin Fei opened the door a crack, revealing only half his face, and asked in a sinister tone, "What do you want?"

"Summon Liang Yanzhe to come out and see me."

The old lady was speaking Cantonese, and Lin Fei pretended not to understand: "What are you saying? I don't understand."

"Make him come out to see me!" The old lady's face grew darker and darker, and her eyes behind her reading glasses were so sharp that no one dared to look her in the eye.

Lin Fei was a little intimidated. He gripped the door tightly and said in the same firm tone, "If you keep ringing the doorbell, I'll contact the property management and have you arrested!"

As soon as she finished speaking, a strong arm wrapped around her from behind, and the man pressed his body against hers from behind, just like his favorite position. Her heart skipped a beat.

Lin Fei felt helpless, caught in a pincer movement, but he couldn't expose himself, causing him immense mental and physical torment.

She wondered what the man was doing. Didn't he say he wanted to meet the old lady? Why was he making things difficult for her? Aren't they in the same boat?

A warm, wet kiss landed on Lin Fei's neck, his teeth biting down on a small piece of flesh and gently sucking.

You don't even need to look to know that there must have been a hickey.

Ignoring whether the old lady was about to explode, Lin Fei closed the door, turned around, hugged Liang Yanzhe's neck, and kissed him on tiptoe.

"Ignore her, let's go back to the bedroom." He had easily ignited her desire.

Liang Yanzhe laughed and said, "I didn't mean anything by it."

Hearing her defend him in every word made him want to get closer to her, using the way he felt most at ease—feeling her heart beating.

"Liang Yanzhe, are you Su Daji or Bao Si?" Lin Fei pouted. "Don't send me random coded messages, okay?"

Liang Yanzhe really liked the lively and interesting Lin Fei, so he bent down and kissed her: "Okay, I'll do it."

She shouldn't have taken the blame for his inexplicable anger.

Lin Fei pushed him away and deliberately patted the corner of her clothes: "Go ahead, I'm not going to talk to you!"

She went back to the living room and sat casually in the main seat, not wanting to see the old woman putting on airs in her house.

Liang Yanzhe opened the door.

Sure enough, the old lady, who had been left standing outside the door for a long time, got angry.

"Is this the rule you've learned?" the old woman retorted sharply.

Liang Yanzhe didn't reply, but only asked, "I already clearly rejected you last time, is there anything else you need?"

"Can't you come if there's nothing wrong?" Before Liang Yanzhe could speak, she tapped the door frame with her cane and went straight in without even changing her shoes.

Upon entering the living room, Lin Fei and the old lady met eyes.

She finally convinced herself that she was, after all, Liang Yanzhe's elder, so she should greet him upon entering and act obediently. After hearing the harsh rebuke, she pretended to be deaf and dumb and remained silent.

The old lady deliberately showed her dissatisfaction on her face: "Is this the rule the Zhong family teaches?"

"The Zhong family never raised me properly, so don't secretly insult my grandfather," Lin Fei said in an innocent tone.

Liang Yanzhe almost burst out laughing.

As expected of Lin Fei, his skill in making things up is unparalleled. One sentence sounds like he's accusing the Zhong family, while the next sentence seems to be defending them.

They don't follow any rules at all.

"No manners." The old lady sat down on the single sofa.

Lin Fei stood up: "Mrs. Liang, you've gone too far. You came all the way to my house to lecture me, but I didn't come to you to ask for a scolding."

In the past, she would have been polite first and then firm, but as soon as she thought about how the old lady had made things difficult for Liang Yanzhe over the years, she was unwilling to be kind to her at all.

The old lady had a prestigious status and had lived a life of honor and flattery. She had never met anyone as outspoken and uncompromising as Lin Fei.

She looked at Liang Yanzhe and said in a commanding tone, "I've made up my mind. The company is in your hands."

"No, I don't care!" Lin Fei said firmly. "Unless you hand over your board position to him and step back from the front lines, there's no room for negotiation."

Liang Yanzhe coughed lightly.

The consensus they reached was to not want it, so how did it turn into handing over the board position?

The old lady looked at Lin Fei as if to say, "You're dreaming."

"Was it you who instigated Xiao Yi and Xiao Er to join forces?" the old lady asked with a dark face.

Lin Fei never accepts questioning: "I'm not some big shot, do you think instigation will work?"

"Mind your own business in the Liang family's affairs," the old lady snapped.

Liang Yanzhe stepped forward, placed his large hand on Lin Fei's shoulder, and said, "I have already clearly rejected you and intend to settle permanently in Jiangdu. You don't need to come looking for me anymore."

"Liang Yanzhe, how have you become as spineless as your father!" The old lady slammed her cane on the ground a few times, her eyebrows furrowed in a cold glare.

Liang Yanzhe pursed his lips tightly: "What you said went too far."

The old woman growled, "You can't withstand hardship, and you only know how to run away from problems. You'll end up like him!"

Lin Fei picked up the water glass on the table and smashed it on the ground, roaring, "Shut up! He will never become a pathetic person like you. You're the one who's twisted in the heart, using your power to suppress those weaker than you and sucking their blood to live! You're so old, and everyone around you hates you. You're the most pathetic one!"

"You!" The old woman was startled and clutched her heart.

"You'll die with your eyes wide open in disbelief!" Lin Fei was almost crying with anger. How could a grandmother curse her grandson to death?

Liang Yanzhe pulled Lin Fei behind him, his usual gentle demeanor gone, and coldly looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar grandmother in front of him: "Enough! Please show some respect when you speak to my wife."

"This is completely outrageous!" the old lady gasped for breath.

She didn't bring bodyguards upstairs, not daring to confront Liang Yanzhe directly. She deliberately didn't bring bodyguards, thinking that, like before, by finding his weakness and using both kindness and force, he would obediently comply. But everything was disrupted by the unpredictable Lin Fei.

“Grandma, you should retire gracefully. Don’t make things so embarrassing. Your actions will only exacerbate the internal strife within the Liang family, and the group will eventually collapse from within.” Liang Yanzhe suppressed his anger, his reason telling him that he should focus on solving the problem. “The fact that the board members are on Xiaoyi and Xiaoting’s side proves that they are dissatisfied with your long-term control of the Liang family. If you don’t make a statement, they will unite to overthrow us, and one day the Liang family will no longer be the Liang family.”

Family ties couldn't sway Old Mrs. Liang. She married into the Liang family for power, and her whole life was about power. So only the interests of the group could persuade her.

He had known this truth for a long time, but he longed for family affection and never dared to face it directly. Now he didn't want to continue pretending anymore, and he couldn't let the people who truly cared about him get hurt because of it.

The old woman exclaimed in shock: "You've really... gone too far!"

Liang Yanzhe took out his phone from his pocket and called the old lady's assistant, asking him to come upstairs to pick her up.

The assistant was waiting in the elevator lobby and arrived within three minutes.

"Young Master, Madam." The assistant bowed slightly to the two of them as he entered and walked toward the single sofa where the old lady was sitting.

The old lady slapped away the hand her assistant reached out and stubbornly stood up on her own.

As the old lady turned the corner, Liang Yanzhe said very firmly, "Please don't come to Jiangdu to disturb our lives anymore, and I hope we will never meet again."

The old lady glanced back at the two of them. At this age, she was starting to feel powerless in many things, and her methods no longer had any effect on him.

"Whatever," she said, trying to save face, and quickly left.

Lin Fei chased after her, and Liang Yanzhe, worried that she might get hurt by acting impulsively, followed her as well.

As soon as they left, Lin Fei slammed the door shut and locked it with the loudest noise to express his dislike for them.

Liang Yanzhe leaned against the wall, laughing, his shoulders shaking slightly.

"If it weren't for your sake, I would have said even worse things!" Lin Fei walked up to Liang Yanzhe and glared at him several times.

Liang Yanzhe raised his hand and touched her cheek: "I have received my wife's heartfelt wishes, but it is not worth arguing with her. She has no feelings in her heart, only power. The less we care, the more upset she will be."

"Who cares!" Lin Fei huffed. "Are you just making empty threats or are you serious about not seeing her again?"

"Really," Liang Yanzhe said, "So don't be angry because of me."

Her love was truly sincere and passionate forever.

He was looked down upon and made things difficult, and she was even angrier than he was.

He couldn't let down this love, since she was willing to risk everything for him.

Lin Fei pulled the large hand over his shoulder and held it tightly: "Ignore that old woman, let's eat cake!"

That's what they should be doing tonight.

Liang Yanzhe tidied up the messy living room, arranged the cake, inserted candles, and lit them.

Lin Fei picked up Shunshun, put a paper crown on its head, and started singing to say goodbye to all the troubles while holding the cat's paws.

Although Lin Fei was wailing in a loud, unrestrained voice, the vibrant life force within it was so captivating that he listened quietly until the end.

Shunshun had no idea what its owners were doing, and meowed a few times.

"Look, even Shunshun is celebrating our safe return home." Lin Fei hugged the kitten and kissed it several times.

Shunshun struggled to get down, and she let go of its hand, letting it run back to its cat bed.

"Dr. Liang, would you like to make a wish?" Lin Fei pushed the cake toward Liang Yanzhe, generously giving him the opportunity.

Liang Yanzhe glanced at the cake and shook his head slightly: "Making a wish on a cake is not as good as making a wish on you."

"What wish do you need me to fulfill, Dr. Liang?" Lin Fei walked around the table and sat down next to him. "Come on, your Fei Wen will help you solve your problems."

Liang Yanzhe thought for a moment and said, "Let's go to the temple tomorrow."

"Is that all?" Lin Fei was surprised.

"Let's make the wish we couldn't make last time, all at once." Liang Yanzhe doesn't believe in gods or Buddhas, but he wants to make up for what he missed.

Lin Fei pulled the cake over, put her hands together, closed her eyes, and said earnestly, "Then I wish for my Dr. Liang to have a successful career and to be promoted to senior professional title soon."

Liang Yanzhe smiled and said, "That's all?"

“We won’t allow those romantic, love-related wishes,” Lin Fei smiled brightly, “because I will protect your wishes.”

She will love him; there's no need to make a wish.

Liang Yanzhe withdrew his hand from the floor, leaned over, and kissed the smile that bloomed on her lips.

This is a sweetness that belongs exclusively to him.

-

The next morning, Lin Fei was awakened by the doorbell.

Before opening her eyes, she instinctively reached out to touch what was beside her.

The man, who had one more day off, didn't need to get up early and stayed in bed with her.

He pulled her into his arms and patted her back gently a few times: "I'll go open the door."

Lin Fei was so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open, and his back and legs ached terribly. He gave a soft "hmm" and drifted off to sleep.

Unfortunately, Zhong Shuwen's voice was too loud, and Lin Fei was completely awakened. She got up with a grudge.

Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, Lin Fei raised his chin and saw the ambiguous hickeys under his collar, pondering which clothes to wear.

She felt okay about Liang Yanzhe leaving hickeys on her, because the marks she left on him were much worse.

The weather wasn't too hot today, so Lin Fei chose a soft purple knitted short-sleeved top with a small neckline, paired with wide-leg pants made of soft fabric. Her hair was loose, and there was no hint of anything ambiguous about her.

Zhong Shuwen was sitting on the sofa, petting Shunshun. Hearing the bedroom door open, he didn't turn around and said sarcastically, "You don't seem to care about your brother at all. You're sleeping very well."

“Brother, being petty isn’t like you. Don’t talk like that.” Lin Fei sat down next to Zhong Shuwen. “You’re a generous and handsome brother.”

Zhong Shuwen was so pleased with the praise that she almost couldn't suppress her smile. She coughed a few times and said, "Alright, I'm not the kind of person who dwells on mistakes. Let's have breakfast together. I'm going home to catch up on my sleep. Liang Yanzhe has already gone out to buy breakfast."

"Can you please stop ordering my husband around when you come to my house?" Lin Fei drank the warm water that Liang Yanzhe had poured for her before he left.

Zhong Shuwen put on airs: "Speak less to him in front of me. If you keep quiet, we can still coexist peacefully."

"Okay, I won't say anything more." This time, Lin Fei really couldn't protect Liang Yanzhe. Putting herself in his shoes, if she were Zhong Shuwen, she might be even less accepting of her friend marrying her sister than he was.

"You two have finally talked it out?" Zhong Shuwen didn't catch up on sleep after work; she deliberately woke them up, so it certainly wasn't just for a simple meal.

Lin Fei smiled broadly at him: "Thanks to you, we've made up."

Zhong Shuwen was both happy and helpless. She understood that Lin Fei was flattering her, but she also really liked it when she flattered him. She wondered if it was because she had been ridiculed too much in the past and was getting carried away by a little sweetness.

"That's fine then." He decided to accept her flattery.

After having breakfast with the two of them, Zhong Shuwen went home to catch up on sleep, and unusually, she didn't give Liang Yanzhe a hard time.

Lin Fei took a nap and postponed his mountain climb until the afternoon.

Liang Yanzhe went upstairs to his study and video-called Liang Yanyi to deal with some tricky matters.

Around noon, a torrential downpour began.

The entire city was soaked; water droplets meandered across the glass. A strong wind swept through, increasing the humidity; the summer rainy season had arrived.

After hanging up the video call, Liang Yanzhe sat in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and watched the rain for a long time.

"Liang Yanzhe".

The study door was turned open, and she barged in without saying hello, dressed in cute pink pajamas.

"Were you woken up?" Liang Yanzhe turned his chair around to face her.

Lin Fei walked barefoot toward him and sat directly on his lap: "Yeah, the thunder was so loud. Does that mean we can't go to the temple on the mountain? What a pity. It's your last day off."

Liang Yanzhe didn't care about the weather and carefully combed her messy long hair.

“Then let’s do it another day. The temple won’t disappear, and you’ll always be here.” He wasn’t insistent.

Lin Fei snuggled into his arms: "Then do you want to take an afternoon nap with me?"

"Go to sleep." He wanted to listen to the rain for a while longer.

Lin Fei only dozed off for ten minutes before his sleepiness subsided and he opened his eyes.

"Liang Yanzhe, where's your pet snake?" She suddenly remembered that he had mentioned keeping small animals.

Liang Yanzhe: "They went to another planet."

Do you like snakes?

Even the tattoos feature snakes.

“When I was fourteen, I was diagnosed with depression. The doctor suggested that I get a pet to prevent it from worsening into depression. I didn’t think I could keep any living creature alive, and I didn’t like keeping pets, but in order to get better faster, I went to a pet store and thought snakes were nice, so I kept one in a cage. We could keep each other undisturbed.” Liang Yanzhe picked up his phone, scrolled to the top of the album, and opened a photo.

A small white corn snake was coiled around his slender fingers and bony wrist.

It wasn't as scary as I imagined; it was actually quite cute.

"No wonder you wanted to get it tattooed. Our little snakes are so lucky. I'm so envious." Lin Fei was still a little hesitant to touch the photo, and just looked at it.

Liang Yanzhe did not deny that the snake he tattooed was the one he used to keep.

"What's it called?" Lin Fei asked curiously.

Liang Yanzhe: "Let's call it Little Snake."

"Dr. Liang, you really have no idea how to name things," Lin Fei said, turning off the screen. "You don't like keeping pets, so why did you adopt Shunshun?"

Liang Yanzhe lowered his eyes and looked at her: "If I don't keep a kitten, will someone come home with me?"

Lin Fei laughed: "Yes, Daddy, just beckon and your kitten will come over."

As soon as she finished speaking, Wen Nuan lifted the corner of her clothes with her large, warm hand and pressed two fingers against her fifth rib.

The middle and index fingers, with thin calluses, lightly brushed against a certain spot.

My heart started racing uncontrollably.

"What is Dr. Liang doing?" Her ears were pink.

Liang Yanzhe said in a serious tone: "Palpation."

"What did you feel?" Lin Fei pressed his hand against hers through her clothes, her entire palm pressed against her chest.

Liang Yanzhe smiled faintly: "Being loved."

Before I knew it, the rain outside stopped, the sky cleared up quickly, and the afterglow of the setting sun appeared in no time, as if it had never rained heavily today.

This is the rainy season in the South, with its intense sunshine and rain, both on and off the ground.

Lin Fei looked out the window at the river view and was attracted by the colorful lights on the horizon, which looked like golden threads hanging in the sky.

"What...is this?" As a native of Jiangdu, she had never seen such a magnificent sight.

“This is called a monsoon cloud, also known as aerial rain. It is formed when rain that has not yet fallen evaporates, and the conditions for its formation are very special.” Liang Yanzhe’s gaze returned to Lin Fei. “I’ve heard a saying that if couples who encounter a monsoon cloud kiss under its witness, they will be together forever.”

"How amazing!" Lin Fei's eyes lit up. "Really?"

Liang Yanzhe smiled silently, revealing his love: "It's fake, because I want to kiss you right now."

Lin Fei cupped Liang Yanzhe's face, kissed him once, and then kissed him again.

He hugged her tightly and returned her kiss.

They parted, panting, as the last rays of the setting sun faded from the sky.

"It's true now, because we'll be together forever." Lin Fei hugged him tightly.

Liang Yanzhe hugged her back, his nose resting on her shoulder, inhaling her faint, clean fragrance.

Liang Yanzhe's phone rang; it was his signature ringtone.

"Who is it?" Lin Fei asked. "Why does this person have a special ringtone?"

Liang Yanzhe: "Grandma's special assistant sometimes gets too busy and answers the phone by mistake, so we simply set up a special ringtone so she can choose not to answer."

Lin Fei stopped herself from having her own personalized ringtone; she didn't want that kind of exclusivity.

"Didn't I say I wouldn't bother you?" Lin Fei pouted. "How old are you? Still acting like a scoundrel."

“I just had a video call with Xiaoyi. She said that after Grandma returned to Gangdu, she was admitted to the hospital. Her heart condition relapsed, and her life is in danger at any time.” Liang Yanzhe said this with a calm expression, as if he were talking about something unimportant.

Lin Fei pursed his lips: "Really... not going back?"
