Chapter 56 Let's have our wedding during the rainy season.

Chapter 56 Let's have our wedding during the rainy season.

Lin Fei quickly washed up, hesitated in front of the wardrobe for three minutes, and finally chose a pink casual suit that didn't require much thought to match.

Zhong Shuyu, who was sitting on the sofa at the foot of the bed waiting, was greatly disappointed.

"Lin Shufei, you've been fussing over this for so long, and this is it?" Zhong Shuyu has been learning Mandarin recently, and she doesn't know which teacher she found. She likes to use the retroflex ending when she speaks, which is difficult for her since she has never liked retroflex endings. Her pronunciation sounds very deliberate.

"Don't say anything nasty to me. And, you're so disrespectful, call me 'older sister.'" Lin Fei casually grabbed a low bun and pulled down a few strands of hair from her forehead to frame her face.

Zhong Shuyu pouted and reluctantly gave an "oh".

Lin Fei glanced at him sideways.

"Sister, my sister, is it okay now!" Zhong Shuyu called out, a suspicious blush appearing on her face.

Lin Fei turned her face away, afraid of laughing out loud.

In the living room.

Zhong Deshou asked Liang Yanzhe about his recent research progress.

Lin Fei stood behind with his arms crossed, watching for a long time.

"Why don't you go up?" Zhong Shuyu leaned in from behind and mischievously blew a breath into Lin Fei's ear.

Lin Fei shrank his neck, revealing his beautiful collarbone hollow: "This is the first time I've seen a teacher give Dr. Liang a test. He's the only one who disciplines students like this."

"First time? I've seen plenty." Zhong Shuyu smugly chuckled twice. "Grandpa didn't take on many students in his later years. It was only after Mrs. Liang came knocking on his door that he accepted my brother-in-law. You can imagine what it must have been like for Dr. Liang to face all of Grandpa's questions all by himself. When Grandpa wasn't doing academics, he was kind and approachable, but once he got involved in his professional field, he was truly terrifying. Otherwise, why didn't my older brother choose cardiac surgery and instead went to study anesthesiology?"

"Fortunately, I'm a bit slow and can't study medicine." Lin Fei didn't want his family to only talk about professional topics at the dinner table.

Zhong Shuyu echoed, "Luckily, I'm also stupid and can't endure hardship, so I can't go to work either."

As soon as he finished speaking, he successfully received a glare from Lin Fei.

"Grandpa." Lin Fei interrupted the two of them, walked over to Liang Yanzhe, and sat down on a sofa with him.

Zhong Deshou smiled and reached out to Lin Fei. She understood immediately, released Liang Yanzhe's hand, and sat down.

"Why did you come all the way to Jiangdu by yourself? It's a long journey, and your body can't handle it." During this time, Zhong Deshou called Lin Fei quite often and sent her gifts. The relationship between the grandmother and granddaughter has improved a lot. She is a person who likes to look forward. In the past, there were misunderstandings and unpleasantness, but she chose to let go of each other and actively repair their relationship.

Chung Shu-yu interjected, "How dare you say that? You didn't visit Grandpa at the Chung residence twice when you went back to Hong Kong. We had no choice but to come here ourselves."

“Nonsense.” Zhong Deshou gave his granddaughter a loving glare. “Your older sister is back in Hong Kong for business, not to visit relatives or go on vacation. As for me, I’m still in good health and can walk, so I want to get out and about more. I’m going to Beijing the day after tomorrow to see some old friends.”

"That's great! Grandpa, don't forget to send me some local specialties. The pastries you sent me last time were delicious." Lin Fei smiled, her eyes crinkling, and took Zhong Deshou's arm.

"I'll send you another one later." Zhong Deshou grinned from ear to ear, his gaze never leaving Lin Fei.

Zhong Shuwen, who had just finished her night shift, rushed back.

He was still out of breath when he entered the room, taking a step and then taking another breath: "Grandpa, why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

"Why would I tell you? Just go to work. It's not like I'm without anyone to take care of me." Zhong Deshou pointed to the suitcase by the wall. "Ayu and I will be staying at your place for the time being."

Zhong Shuwen hadn't even sat down for a drink of water before she went to move her luggage.

The group went out for a meal together, and the restaurant they chose was the You Ran Yuan in the old house.

After a busy half-day, Zhong Deshou and Zhong Shuyu took a nap in their guest room after lunch.

Lin Fei accompanied Liang Yanzhe to enjoy the cool air in the pavilion in the backyard.

She sought out Manager Ye.

I'm going to bring Lin Manzhi over in a couple of days, so I'll ask him to prepare the ingredients in advance and cook some authentic Jiangdu dishes to entertain her.

"Why haven't I seen Brother Jili lately? Is his tea shop very busy?" Lin Fei picked out some vegetables, then threw the bait into the water, and many fish surfaced.

I've had quite a few meals with our partners lately, and we always choose this location. I've seen Song Jili almost every time.

Liang Yanzhe took off his glasses and placed them on the pear wood table, saying, "Recently, Aunt Lin asked him to go on blind dates, but he hid in the deep mountains and forests and won't be coming out anytime soon."

"Is it really that exaggerated?" Lin Fei laughed immorally. He couldn't believe that even at his age, Song Jili still avoided dealing with his parents whenever possible.

"Don't worry, he's enjoying himself at the tea plantation. He's not making himself miserable. He'll take you there sometime." Liang Yanzhe took the fish food. "Don't feed them anymore, they'll die from overeating."

"Why do you look so troubled?" Lin Fei leaned closer to Liang Yanzhe. "You must have something on your mind. Don't hide it from me."

"It's not a big deal," Liang Yanzhe said. "The teacher is going to the hospital with me tomorrow morning, so I'm a little stressed."

Lin Fei burst into laughter: "Dr. Liang, you've finally met your match!"

Liang Yanzhe reached out to protect her, worried that she might fall if she leaned too low: "No one is unafraid of a teacher's questions, right?"

"Did your grandfather often ask you questions? I don't remember." When Lin Fei stayed in Gangdu for a while, Liang Yanzhe often went back to the Zhong family home for meals with her. How come she didn't remember?

"The teacher would call me to the study."

"Ah! I didn't know you were talking about something, and I kept bothering you." Whenever Lin Fei couldn't find Liang Yanzhe, he would go to the study, regardless of whether they had important business or not. As soon as he entered, he would say that he was tired and wanted to go back to rest.

Liang Yanzhe lowered his head and whispered in Lin Fei's ear, "That's why I'm especially grateful to you for letting me escape the teacher's question."

Lin Fei slumped onto the chaise lounge, the air thick with the echoes of her bewitching laughter.

"Only I dared to knock on the door and interrupt," Lin Fei asked. "Don't you feel like I'm a fairy descending to save you?"

"Yes, thank you, fairy." Liang Yanzhe patted her head.

Lin Fei straddled Liang Yanzhe's thigh, hugged his arm, and rested her chin on his broad shoulder: "Dr. Liang, you have a childish side too."

“Everyone has that.” Liang Yanzhe didn’t mind showing his immature side in front of her.

"I like it." Lin Fei lifted her face and placed a kiss on his cheek.

She always caught his emotions very quickly and gently held him as he fell.

“My teacher… has praised you to me a lot.” Liang Yanzhe took the initiative to talk about the past. “I first heard him talk about you when I was a graduate student. You look a lot like your mother, beautiful and sensible, and very well-behaved.”

Lin Fei waved his hand in front of Liang Yanzhe's eyes: "Dr. Liang, you wouldn't have been plotting against me back then, would you?"

Liang Yanzhe sighed softly: "That's a crime, not literature."

Lin Fei laughed again: "The whole family knows that he has a strained relationship with my mother, and he's even less close to me. He can't find anyone to talk to, so he can only brag a bit to you, who doesn't know the truth. What was your first impression of me back then?"

“Good boy?” Liang Yanzhe pronounced the word very softly.

Lin Fei understood the underlying meaning, punched his chest, and feigned pitifulness: "How can you be so hostile to a junior high school student you've never met before!"

"You had a good first impression of me?" Liang Yanzhe asked in return.

Lin Fei recalled the scene they encountered on the road in the pouring rain and coughed, "In that situation, it would be strange if he got better, right?"

"That... situation? Is it bad?" Liang Yanzhe asked, puzzled.

Lin Fei sat up straight, grabbed a non-existent sleeve, and asked seriously, "It's pouring rain, there's not a single person within a five-kilometer radius, and suddenly a car comes along, a strange man gets out and offers to help me, and he seems quite familiar with me. It's normal to be wary, right?"

Upon hearing this, Liang Yanzhe's eyebrows furrowed tightly: "This is... our first meeting?"

"Oh, you forgot?" Lin Fei said sarcastically. "How come you don't forget to eat, and you don't forget to sleep?"

"I haven't forgotten." Liang Yanzhe said with a hint of helplessness, "But are you sure this is the first time you've seen me?"

"Yes!" Lin Fei replied confidently.

"What if it's not?" Liang Yanzhe gave a cryptic smile.

His confident demeanor made him inexplicably feel guilty.

"What I remember, what I haven't forgotten, is our first meeting." Lin Fei wasn't foolish enough to make a bet; he chose to renege.

Liang Yanzhe mimicked her tone: "How come you never forget to eat or sleep?"

Lin Fei thought to himself, "How did this person become such a shrewd learner?"

After a brief truce, the two remained silent, quietly feeling the summer afternoon breeze pass through the shady corridor, becoming slightly cool and gently brushing against their skin.

Lin Fei asked, "So when was our first meeting? Tell me the truth, you can't keep a memory of us to yourself behind my back."

“When you were in your first year of high school, your teacher went on a business trip to Jiangdu and asked to meet with you,” Liang Yanzhe recalled. “He encountered a rare case and was discussing it with the teacher in the study when you barged in without saying a word.”

He was quite certain that Lin Fei was intolerant of anyone at that time, and she barged in to argue with Zhong Deshou.

"I...I think I said something really offensive that day." Lin Fei was extremely reluctant to go to the appointment, wanting only to leave as soon as possible, and didn't even want to eat a meal.

“It’s not excessive, it just makes the teacher lose face in front of me a little.” Liang Yanzhe’s smile deepened. “He often praises you for being sensible and having a ladylike manner of speaking. That meeting made me realize that I was unconsciously influenced by the teacher, and subconsciously felt that you were like many girls I had met, gentle and conservative.”

Lin Fei tried hard to recall what he had said that day.

It seems that it was not just a little excessive, but also took out their anger on the people who were traveling with my grandfather.

“I said…” Lin Fei tried hard to recall.

Liang Yanzhe continued, "You said you wouldn't eat dinner, because eating with all of you makes me feel nauseous."

"I was one of them."

Wearing a gray-white school uniform and with her hair in a ponytail, Lin Fei stormed into the study with a fierce expression.

In his memory, she was the first person who dared to defy Zhong Deshou, so it was hard not to notice her.

Lin Fei picked up some new fish food and tossed it into the pond with a great deal of boredom: "...Just forget about it. Let's just pretend that the rainstorm that day was our first meeting."

"A first meeting that doesn't leave an impression on you doesn't count." Liang Yanzhe brushed aside her messy long hair in front of her chest. "Let's just say that rainstorm that day was our first meeting. It's a pity, it seems I didn't leave a good impression on you."

“I was thinking that when I got back, I would definitely donate money to charity for you, since people in Hong Kong believe in metaphysics.”

Liang Yanzhe couldn't help but chuckle, never expecting her to have such a rich inner world.

"Why did you help me?" Lin Fei asked curiously. "If she were just my mentor's granddaughter and my friend's sister, we would have no connection at all. No normal person would stop on a highway in a downpour."

Liang Yanzhe: "I'm really curious about what kind of person you are. A single sentence can keep a teacher up all night and make Zhong Shuwen feel melancholy."

"Dr. Liang, am I so attractive to you?" Lin Fei smiled sweetly and moved closer.

Liang Yanzhe: "Well, let's just say it was fate that made me stop the car, and that's how you entered my life."

"Liang Yanzhe, look at you, you only like people who disrupt the monotony of daily life." Lin Fei leaned close, her lips intentionally brushing against his earlobe. "Don't you also enjoy our games?"

"Feiwen, we're outside," Liang Yanzhe gently reminded her without denying it.

Lin Fei didn't care where they were: "It's okay, you can kiss me, no one will know what we're talking about."

Liang Yanzhe turned his head and pinched her cheek hard: "Be good, and you'll get a reward tonight."

"You really love me." Lin Fei never waited for a kiss to land on her; he would boldly pursue and ask for her kisses.

So she took the initiative to kiss him.

In a moment of passion, he asked her, "Feiwen, let's get married."

She seemed to have no idea about the wedding.

But he really, really wanted to have a wedding with her.

He announced to everyone they knew that he and she were in love.
