Chapter 47

Song Xu and Wu Mu followed the camel beastmen to the oasis to rest for a night. Wu Mu had already listened to the slightly artistic story of the squirrel, and he finally became smart and guessed that there might be some nonsense in Song Xu's story.

She might want to tell him more about his mother, but she didn't get much information, so she made up some other things to make him happy.

Hesen left the tribe on the eve of his coming of age. At that time, he had already determined to leave the tribe and live alone as a half-orc, but Hesen thought there might still be a way, so he left in a hurry. She only said at the time that she would be back soon and asked him to wait near the tribe after he came of age.

Wu Mu waited for her just to say goodbye to her. Hesen is a warlike tiger orc. She loves to join the hunting team and often goes out for a long time. When Wumu was very young, she learned to go to the nearby forest to hunt small animals to eat when she was hungry, and swallow them with skin and bones.

Only when Hesen came back to the tribe for a short time could he eat cooked food. Maybe because he was a half-orc, he didn't like cooked food very much, and the meat made by Hesen was not very delicious.

When the big tiger took a nap, it would hold him under its chin. When Wumu felt too hot and wanted to go out and entangled on the doorpost, Hesen could hold him down with one claw.

Later, when he grew up, like other little orcs in the tribe, he didn't like to be too close to his mother. After all, most mothers in the tribe would take care of underage beastmen, but when the beastmen grow up, they would immediately drive their children away to let them live independently, and Wumu became independent earlier.

Song Xu seemed happier than Heisen to hear the news. She described the mighty tiger beastman in her imagination with her hands and feet, and revealed a look of longing. The big snake, who always showed slowness and indifference, realized at this time that the little squirrel was missing his mother.

Wumu: "Song Xu, mother?"

Song Xu: "What's the relationship between us? The big tiger belongs to everyone. I mean, mom belongs to everyone! Don't worry, we are moving forward anyway, and I will definitely get more information for you."

Wumu found that she didn't understand what he meant, and added another word: "Song Xu, miss, mother?"

Song Xu: "Yes, yes, I want to see Wumu's mother, she must be a beautiful big cat!"

Wumu found that she was pretending not to understand what he meant. And suddenly started to pick up the sand next to him and pile it on him.

Wumu:?

Song Xu laughed: "It's so cold at night, pile some sand on your body to keep warm!"

She buried the big snake, leaving only its head outside. Wu Mu moved his tail slightly and the pointed sand on his body collapsed. The diligent little squirrel went over to fill it up for him and asked him: "Don't move around, don't kick the quilt!"

After that, she piled a sand quilt for herself. The small bulge lay next to the big snake's head. Song Xu dug in the sand and suddenly felt like a cat-eyed snail lying on the sand. She couldn't help but giggle for a while.

The snake moved quietly again, hissing in question, but Song Xu just looked up at the sky and said, "What bright stars."

After a while, she suddenly said, "Is it autumn now? When will winter come? I wonder where we will be by then."

They set out from the ebony forest in spring, but the further they walked, the less obvious the boundary between seasons became. If we calculate according to the time, autumn should be almost over, but here, the daytime is still hot, and the temperature is even higher than the autumn-colored Gobi they walked through before.

The question Song Xu has been thinking about recently is where they will go to when the ebony will start hibernation.

Snakes hibernate not according to seasonality, but more precisely, according to temperature. If the temperature is always high enough, snakes will not hibernate.

If they go further and the temperature drops to a certain level, Wumu's hibernation will come soon. She has to consider finding a safe place for Wumu to spend this hibernation period first.

After only one night in the oasis, Song Xu and Wumu quickly said goodbye to the camel beastman team. Before leaving, the big camel told them the direction Heisen left.

Song Xu looked at the direction and thought, okay, it went back to the west, but ended up going west again. Song Xu

originally came out to see the world and didn't think much about looking for Heisen. Now that she hears news about Heisen one after another, her desire to find Heisen has become stronger. Regardless of whether she can find him or not, it's also interesting to hear more news.

On the way, Wumu saw Song Xu actively greeted all the beastmen he met, asking them about the tiger tooth necklace that they didn't recognize, or asking them if they had met a tiger beastman nearby. Unfortunately, he got no answer.

"What is this called? It's called planting willows by accident and getting a row of willows, but planting flowers intentionally and not having them bloom. That is to say, when you don't look for it, the news comes to you, but when you look for it, you can't find it." Song Xu sighed.

They walked through the most desolate section of the road, and they couldn't find water for a long time. They relied on the water in the fruit shell water bottle brought by the big camel to walk through the desolate area.

Green was seen again in front of them, although it was only a little bit, but it also made Song Xu cheer and eat a lot.

The warm wind blew from the other direction, and the short rain made the barren land full of flowers and green grass. There were no tall trees here, and the flat ground was endless.

But this warmth and green was only a flash in the pan, appearing briefly in their journey like an oasis in the desert. They suddenly appeared and disappeared suddenly, and the road ahead became desolate again.

The cold winter that Song Xu was worried about suddenly arrived when they once again said goodbye to the green grass and flowers. In the plain without shelter, even a big tree or a big rock could not be found, the drop in temperature was fatal. They

could not find a place to hide. The ground was covered with a layer of white frost that made Song Xu worried. The snake's body wandered on this white frost, and the soft scales in summer were as cold as ice.

If it gets colder, Wumu will go into hibernation, but where is the suitable place for him to hibernate here?

Wumu was not unusual except that he moved a little slower. He did not ask to find a place to hibernate. He continued to move forward day by day by her side. There were almost no signs of animal life in the barren wasteland, and even firewood could not be found to make a fire.

Song Xu began to consider whether to go back, at least the temperature would be a little higher.

"Here, rest." Wumu spoke for a rare time.

Song Xu looked at the hole in the ground, which looked like a mouse hole, and confirmed with him: "Are you sure you want to hibernate here?"

Wumu: "No hibernation, just rest for now."

"Okay." Song Xu did not raise any objections, but just dug the hole a little bigger. If it was not bigger, the snakes would not be able to get in.

The distance to the cave entrance was narrow, but once inside, the space inside was surprisingly large, with many small winding holes.

Wumu curled up his huge body as much as possible in the earth cave, waiting for the thin layer of frost covering his body to melt away. He watched Song Xu busy checking the small tunnels that led to all directions in the cave.

Those small holes were too small for Wumu, but the squirrel could still squeeze half of its body in, so only its furry belly and tail were exposed, and only its head and upper body were in the hole.

The squirrel completely got into the last larger hole, and after a moment, it popped its head out excitedly and said, "Wumu, there is a nest of little mice in this small hole!"

They were ordinary mice, not beastmen. These little guys looked like they were born not long ago, and the mother mouse might have gone out to look for food. Song Xu looked at Wumu, a big snake, in the big hole next to him, and thought that the mother mouse probably didn't dare to come back, and these little mice might starve to death.

Wumu wanted to leave after resting in the cave for a day, but Song Xu came back from outside and held him down: "Don't do that. The wind outside is too cold. It will scratch your bones. If you go out and freeze to death, I won't be able to move you back. You should stay here for a few more days."

Song Xu went out two or three times a day. It was warm in the cave under the soil, but it was different on the ground. The cold wind was howling, and if it was stronger, it could blow away the squirrels. Song Xu was looking for food for herself on the ground, and also looking for food suitable for Wumu. In short, she went around everywhere nearby.

She came back with a bunch of plant stems, chewing something in her mouth. She shook off the frost on her hair, rubbed her hands and shook her legs, stepped on the snake bodies that filled the cave, and came to a small open space that Wumu had specially cleared for her.

"I looked outside, but I didn't find any big animals, not even a rabbit." Song Xu gnawed the root stem in frustration, "You don't eat this."

"I'm not hungry." Sheshe said.

Song Xu hugged his big head with emotion: "Wuwu, you are so considerate, you still comfort me at this time!"

Wumu: ... But I'm really not hungry.

Song Xu: "Nothing happened when I was out, right?"

Wumu thought for a moment: "No."

A small snake crawled into the hole and wanted to eat the little mice, but it ran away after seeing him, so this incident should not count.

"I'm glad it's okay." Song Xu heard a faint squeaking sound, it was the little mice that were hungry. She looked at Sheshe, picked up the remaining root stem and drilled into the hole.

The mice in this litter really looked too ugly, with sparse hair on their flesh-colored bodies, small eyes that looked like they had no eyes at all, and protruding teeth. Song Xu broke open the stems to feed the mice, watching them eat with kindness and tenderness, muttering, "Grow up quickly, and get fatter so you can be a snack for the snakes."

Wu Mu saw her feeding the mice and thought she liked small animals very much, and wanted to play with anything she saw, whether it was beastmen or ordinary animals.

After a few days, the mice that Song Xu was feeding grew hair, and their growth rate really shocked Song Xu. She felt that it was time, and it was really troublesome to feed this litter every day. After feeding the mice, she took them one by one to the big cave where Wumu was, and reminded Snake: "You can have some snacks if you are hungry. I'll go out to take a look."

She went out as usual, and Snake, who had just woken up from a nap, saw a group of small mice and remembered that they were raised by Song Xu for fun. The

small mice, who were already accustomed to the smell of snakes, cried for a while, crawled in this larger space, and climbed onto the huge snake.

Wumu did not move, allowing these little meat balls to climb his body as if it were a mountain. Until they were so hungry that they kept chirping, Wumu remembered that Song Xu said before leaving: "Feed them some snacks if they are hungry."

The snake's tail moved, sweeping a little plant stem in the corner in front of the mice, and then shook off the mice that were still crawling on it, and all of them were trapped in the tail, letting them eat.

So when Song Xu came back, she saw a group of mice piled together, sleeping soundly beside the snake.

Song Xu:?

She thought to herself, I really didn't realize that the snake liked these ugly little mice so much that he couldn't bear to eat them.

Well, if he likes them, just raise them to entertain him.
