Chapter 5

In the past, every night of a thunderstorm, Song Xu would pile up her quilts and pillows into a mountain and press herself under the hill.

This time, she still pressed herself under the "hill", but this time the hill was not a soft quilt and pillow, but a heavy and solid snake tail.

She arched the ebony tail into a ball, and when the thunder subsided a little and she dared to stick her head out, she was almost pressed into a pancake by the big tail. The

damp pancake pricked up her ears to listen to the movement outside, and most of her body stuck out from under the snake's tail. She stretched out her hands to rub her body, trying to make herself into an inflatable type.

After adapting to the dim environment, Song Xu saw the blurry outline in front of her, and at the same time her claws felt the cool and smooth hair.

Of course, it wasn't hers, it was the big snake's, his upper body bent and lying nearby, judging from this posture, she seemed to be near his mouth now.

Song Xu couldn't help but sigh, Sheshe's temper was really good, she was so scared just now that she was out of her mind, she seemed to be pulling his tail randomly, arching and moving, he was like dead and let her move at will.

Just as he praised his good temper, Wumu opened his eyes in the dark, two small red lights were in the dark, accompanied by a dangerous hissing sound that made the squirrel stand up. Fortunately, he looked at her for a while, and didn't mean to have a midnight snack, but just swam his body and changed his sleeping posture.

Thunder sounded outside again, Song Xu didn't care about the squirrel's natural fear of snakes, and jumped into Wumu's long tail.

This time his tail formed a circle, and she felt safer hiding in the middle.

Song Xu felt like a ball in her sleep, sometimes squashed by a heavy object, sometimes rubbed by a rolling pin. When she woke up, she found that one of her paws and tail was still pressed by the snake's tail, and her lying position had changed from the corner before sleeping to the edge of the stone wall.

She might have been used as a small stone to rub her tail by this male snake-orc last night, and was rolled and rubbed as his tail swam while he slept.

The sun was already high outside, and bright light shone into the cave from various gaps, making the cave, which was a little dim in the past, a little brighter.

Song Xu carefully jumped over the piled up snake tails, walked to the entrance of the cave, and was instantly stung by the too dazzling light. Except for a few broken branches on the ground, there were no other traces of the violent storm last night.

After a night of heavy rain, the forest looked a little greener. The moss on the ground absorbed the water, and all the green in the forest was transparent and bright in the sunlight, fresh and tender.

And she... Song Xu looked at her hair that was covered with mud and no longer soft. She almost turned into a mud squirrel.

Unable to bear it, she turned into an orc. The fur-turned animal skin on her body no longer had the luster and beauty of the past.

She has not taken a bath since she came to this world. The orcs here are not used to taking a bath, just like cats and dogs at home don't take a bath every day. They have a different way of maintaining their hair than humans.

Song Xu peeled off the mud on her body with a bitter face: But I have to wash now!

These days, she has been drinking water from a crevice in the forest. There is a thin trickle there, and she can get a handful of water after a while. But it is obviously not convenient to use such a small stream to wash a squirrel as big as her. She has to find a bigger water source as a fixed bathing place.

After living nearby for a few days, Song Xu was not as afraid of this forest as she was at the beginning. She climbed to the top of a tall tree to look for a place where there might be a water source.

Perhaps it was due to her usual luck, or the fact that animals are naturally sensitive to water sources, she found a large swamp to the south of the boulder cave.

The swamp was not close to the boulder cave. When Song Xu found it nearby, it was already afternoon.

This swamp seems to be one of the public drinking places for various animals of all sizes in the forest. On the shore of the swamp with large areas of aquatic plants, there are traces of animals trampling on it, and the messy mud is turned up.

In the puddle of footprints left by an unknown animal, there are also groups of black tadpoles that have just grown hind legs. It won't be long before they turn into four-legged animals and go ashore, evolving into noisy summer night singers and starting to play the song of quacks.

Song Xu found a clean place, picked up the soft water plants swaying in the water, rolled them into a ball and wiped the mud off his body. After rolling on the ground all night, wiping was not enough, so he had to soak in water to wash.

It's strange, but I always feel embarrassed to take a bath in the wild in beast form, but I don't feel any psychological pressure when taking a bath in squirrel beast form.

She was scrubbing her tail and feet, and a few long-legged water birds flew over to catch fish nearby. Some were white with long beaks, and some had white necks and black backs. Song Xu stretched her neck to see if they had caught anything.

Their long beaks were like a pair of tongs in the water, and they could easily pick up small fish. The water in the center of the marsh far away from the shore was deeper, and the silver backs of small fish flashed on the water surface, which made Song Xu want to eat grilled fish.

Because of the movement of her washing her feet by the water plants, curious little fish swam over and hid in the water plants. Song Xu was eager to make a move. She threw away the water plants she was scrubbing her feet with and rushed over to chase the fish.

With a head of green algae on her head, she threw a small fish as long as her palm to the shore. Watching its tail swinging wildly, Song Xu's excitement slowly cooled down. Ah, the fish was caught, but how to eat it? Eat it raw?

She had a meal in this marsh and developed some new recipes. In the myths and legends of her country, there is a story about Shennong tasting hundreds of herbs. What she is doing now is similar. She can even understand the feelings that the ancient ancestors once expressed when facing nature: Eat! You can eat it even when you are hungry!

This green and breezy marsh is much more lively than the forest because there are endless small animals coming here. Song Xu couldn't recognize the various birds that lived by the water, but she had seen several large bird nests in the low-hanging trees by the marsh.

Song Xu: I want to eat bird eggs.

She also saw a relatively large animal here for the first time, a motionless monitor lizard that was estimated to be more than one meter long. Most of its body was in the mud, almost blending into the mud.

Song Xu didn't notice it at first, but a rhino walked to the edge of the marsh to drink water, startled it, and then Song Xu realized that there was a monitor lizard hiding there.

She was not as fond of lizards as she was of snakes, but she had some knowledge about the relevant subjects. However, she could not recognize the species of the monitor lizard in front of her.

After seeing the monitor lizard, Song Xu looked at the rhinoceros drinking water... It had a horn on its head, so it should be a rhinoceros, right?

She knew even less about rhinoceroses. They were so big, with thick skin folds on their bodies, and they looked like they were not easy to mess with. I wonder if the big snakes usually eat rhinoceroses.

In addition to rhinoceroses, there were also deer with long spiral horns that came to drink water... They could also be antelopes or others, Song Xu still couldn't tell them apart.

She watched them licking water by the water, and began to wonder, would the big snakes eat this kind of animal? If they did, the two horns looked pointed, would it be easy to cut their stomachs?

After drying her fur completely by the water and patting it to make it fluffy, Song Xu decided to finish watching the nature documentary and go back before dark.

On the way back, Song Xu was attracted by a fallen dead tree in the forest.

The trunk was smooth and the main trunks were strong enough. Song Xu walked around the dead tree and thought it was very suitable to be placed in the big snake's cave as a branch for him to play. His cave was empty and there was nothing in it. It really needed some enrichment devices to improve the living environment.

Song Xu dragged the big branch back with great effort. Fortunately, the dead tree fell not far from the cave. Even so, she was exhausted and panting when she returned to the cave.

How to stuff the entire branch into the cave became a new problem. The entrance to the cave was not big enough, and the size of the branch exceeded the entrance. Song Xu struggled for a long time, but the branch was stuck in the entrance, unable to get in or out.

Song Xu looked into the cave with a guilty conscience. It seemed that she had blocked the door of the big snake.

Wumu woke up and also found the big branch blocking the entrance to the cave. Song Xu slipped to the side and saw him look at the branch, then wrap his long tail around it and drag it inside. The stuck trunk made a cracking sound instantly, and most of the trunk was dragged into the cave by him.

Compared to Song Xu who used all his strength, Wumu did it with ease. His strength was terrifying.

The small difficulty was solved. Song Xu was relieved to see Wu Mu wrapping his tail around the tree branch. He thought to himself that snakes really like tree branches.

As for whether Wu Mu really likes tree branches. After wrapping his long tail around the tree trunk, he exerted a little force, and all the branches made a sound of breaking at the same time. The entangled snake tail loosened, and such a big tree had turned into pieces of branches. Some parts were squeezed and crushed, and sawdust was scattered all over the ground.

Song Xu: Well... Now it is suitable for firewood, and there is no need to chop it.

After the tree was chopped into pieces, Wu Mu lost interest in it, swung his snake tail and left the cave.

Seeing that his roommate left a mess of garbage and left without looking back, Song Xu had to pick up the broken branches on the ground without complaint. Kick them into the corner with your feet to avoid getting in the way.

There was a gray fluffy thing in the corner. Song Xu thought it was a stone at first, but after accidentally kicking it, she found it was soft. She curiously opened it and took a look, and suddenly exclaimed "Ah".

It turned out to be a rough animal skin bag. Because it had been thrown there for a long time and a thick layer of dust fell, Song Xu mistakenly thought it was a stone.

Dragging the bag to a bright place, Song Xu rummaged through the bag as if she was rummaging through a treasure chest.

In the bag there was a large stone bowl, a knife made of animal teeth, a small piece of leather whose use was unknown, a large piece of white stone crystal, and what surprised Song Xu the most was that there were two pieces of black flint! This is a tool for making fire!

Song Xu danced wildly with joy while holding two pieces of flint: "Ahhh, I can eat cooked food now!!!!"

She looked at the branches and sawdust on the side. What a coincidence! The firewood was ready.
