Chapter 10 What's the rush?

Chapter 10 What's the rush?

In the past, Shu Lan locked herself in the garbage dump and didn't know if there were living people passing by on the national highway from time to time, but Shu Maomao could hear them.

The old monkey said that supernatural powers can be inherited. For example, Shu Maomao was born with extraordinary hearing, perhaps because the man also had it.

Shu Lan asked Shu Maomao if he had any other special abilities, such as summoning wind, fire, thunder and lightning, controlling metal, teleporting and becoming invisible, etc.

Shu Maomao listened quietly as she recounted a long list of supernatural powers she had heard of, and finally calmly told her, "I don't understand, Mommy."

Okok, her son is a four-year-old child who can't even write the word "superpower", so it's normal that he doesn't understand.

So Shu Lan didn't know whether Shu Maomaoyi inherited any other supernatural powers from that man, but the ability to hear the wind was enough, for example, to help her find the car with four people in it that drove into Ci'an five minutes ago.

First ask for help from the survivors and see if you can use your supernatural powers to get some food.

She slowly followed the direction Shu Maomao pointed and followed the group. She "accidentally" spotted their bike and rang the bell on her bike to attract their attention. "Excuse me, do you need a new psychic teammate?"

The man in the driver's seat raised his head and looked warily at the woman at the intersection. After looking her whole body, he looked left and right. Without responding to Shu Lan, he lowered his head and spoke softly into the walkie-talkie.

Shu Lan leaned over and whispered in a voice that only she and Shu Maomao could hear: "Baby, what is he saying?"

Shu Maomao repeated what he heard word for word: "Brothers, if you can't find anything, come out quickly. There's an unexpected bonus. There's a lone wolf with superpowers here, and she's a pretty girl."

He paused in the middle and continued to repeat: "Oh, I didn't see it just now, there is a little kid."

Shu Lan stepped on the pedal and turned away without hesitation.

The man's words were filled with unpleasant malice. Shu Lan, who had experienced the dangers of society, had realized that her greeting was not a good one and it would be better for her to escape as soon as possible.

The sound of a car engine starting soon rang out behind her. The man drove up to catch up with her and drove side by side with her. He even had the leisure to tease her, "Beautiful girl, why are you running away after just a few words?"

Shu Lan wanted to turn and get onto the sidewalk to get away from him, but her bicycle was suddenly hit and fell forward violently. She quickly put her feet down to support the ground to maintain her balance. Her ribs hit the handlebars and she gasped in pain.

Looking down, she saw a row of earthen slopes rising up on the cement road, which was the culprit that tripped her.

When Shu Lan looked up, her expression had changed. She smiled sweetly and said, "So, big brother is an earth-type psychic. How amazing."

The man stopped the car and put his elbow on the window: "What kind of superpower do you have? Where is your man?"

Shu Lan sighed, "She's just an ordinary Swift Ear. Her husband died a long time ago, and she's been looking for help everywhere with her child. I heard there's more than one of you, so I'm a little scared. Big Brother is so powerful, you wouldn't want to steal my things, would you?"

Her soft voice easily disarmed the man, and the aggressiveness in his face slowly vanished. He grinned, revealing his uneven yellow and black teeth. "No one would look down on this little food, but you're quite a smart person. You're a widow relying on your clairvoyance. You can't survive in this world. Leave this little brat behind and come with us. I guarantee you won't have to worry about your future."

Shu Lan tightened her grip on the handlebars, her smile unwavering. "Of course I want to go with you. It's better to have someone to protect me than to hide from zombies with my child all by myself. But my child is small and can't eat much. I really wouldn't want to leave him behind if I were asked to."

The man looked at the child in the back seat, who was about two or three years old, dressed in a messy manner, with neatly cut hair that looked like a big bowl on top of his head.

He stared at the man expressionlessly from beginning to end. He had milky white skin, curled eyelashes, and black pupils that took up half of his big eyes. He looked like a lifeless doll in a window display.

Her facial features are delicate, but her eyes are too sinister, making it difficult for men to call her cute.

The man rolled his eyes and agreed: "Okay, get in the car, I'll take you back to meet your other three men."

Shu Lan got off the bike, picked up the backpack containing the food, opened the back door, and was about to get in when the man suddenly said, "Put the child in the back, and you take the passenger seat."

Shu Lan gritted her teeth, lowered her head, and meekly acted like a lamb ready to be slaughtered. "Okay, big brother, as long as you're willing to accept us, I'll do whatever you say."

She carried Shu Maomao to the car and sat him down, comforting him softly: "Be good and don't talk."

Shu Lan closed the car door. In the man's blind spot, she quietly reached into the gap of the backpack behind her with her right hand, took out a fruit knife and stuffed it into the gap between her arm and sleeve.

She opened the passenger door with her left hand, and with a sweet and ingratiating smile on her face, she sat sideways. After she sat down, the man couldn't wait to reach out his hand and put it on her thigh.

Shu Lan pushed his hand away and said coquettishly, "What's the rush?"

At this moment, the intercom rang, and someone accused him, "You old-fashioned guy! Where are you? Where did you drive your car to?"

The man nicknamed "Tu Lao Mao" withdrew his hand with apathy and replied to his companions: "We didn't drive far. What are you yelling about? I'm bringing the girl back to you."

He put down the walkie-talkie, held the steering wheel with both hands, and looked forward, looking for a place to turn around.

At this moment, Shu Lan unsheathed her knife. She suddenly stood up from her seat, raised the knife, and stabbed it hard at the man's throat.

The man reacted quickly as well. When a cold light flashed before his eyes, he immediately twisted his waist and blocked the knife with his shoulder. Shu Lan was weak, and the knife only penetrated slightly, and the man grabbed her wrist.

The man's face was ferocious, and a murderous light immediately appeared in his eyes. He burst out with dirty words: "You dare to hit me? You are shameless and you are looking for death!"

Shu Lan loosened her five fingers, the dagger fell from between her fingers, and she screamed with her last hope.

"Baby! Help me!"

Before she could speak, Shu Maomao stood up from the back seat, stretched out her little hand to pick up the dagger that had fallen on the man's knees, and without hesitation stabbed it into the throat where Shu Lan had failed to pierce, just like she had used the fish knife to kill the mutant rat before.

Blood spurted out like a red flower, and a drop of blood splashed into Shu Maomao's big eyes. He blinked, feeling a little uncomfortable: "Mommy..."

The man's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, and before the curse words came out, blood gushed out of his dirty mouth like a fountain.

He slowly relaxed his grip on Shu Lan, and Shu Lan immediately opened the car door, picked up her bag, and stammered, "Shu...Shu Maomao...come down quickly, let's go...let's go..."

Shu Maomao opened the door himself, slid down from the bike, and was pushed onto the back seat of the bicycle by her.

If Shu Lan could drive, she would definitely drive the man's car away, but she had no money to learn how to drive, and in the most dangerous moments she could only ride a bicycle to escape.

She turned around and climbed onto the passenger seat, reached out to pull out the dagger from the man's neck, and threw it into the basket along with the scabbard and backpack. She pushed the bike around the dirt slope that blocked the road, rode up and sprinted as hard as she could, and entered the nearest residential building.
