Chapter 29: Domineering Female CEO.
Shu Maomao poked Shu Lan again, and lowered his head to see a fish-killing knife under his feet.
Shu Lan: “…”
She looked at Shu Maomao and said: Baby, we can't beat her!
Shu Maomao put the fish-killing knife back into the space in disappointment.
Shu Lan saw from the rearview mirror that An Selin hadn't noticed their little tricks, so she breathed a sigh of relief and started talking to her: "So you didn't bite people from the beginning, and only ate the crystal cores?"
Anselin said, "Of course not. After becoming a zombie, you can't control the behavior of biting people. Even if you know you are biting a fellow zombie, you will feel disgusted and open your mouth. You don't know the warm, sweet blood rushing into your mouth, and the taste of human flesh..."
"Okay, sister, let's stop here. I don't want to know the details."
Anselin burst out laughing: "Later, I was able to suppress this urge by eating too many crystal cores, but so what? I'm already stained with human blood, and there's no going back."
Shu Lan inexplicably recalled the dream she had the night Ci'an fell. At this moment, she shared the same feeling as An Selin in the back seat: "It would be better if I hadn't been conscious from beginning to end."
Anselin said, "Indeed, now I can only deceive myself. I am a brand new carnivorous species that can bite people. I am the opposite of you humans. Either I assimilate you, or you kill me."
Shu Lan asked, "So you went to District 9 to find those high-level zombies? Because they are the same kind as you."
"Well, of course new species should be with new species."
If Anselin wasn't lying, Shu Lan thought it would be better not to fight her for now.
The other party stated that his purpose was to hitchhike. Perhaps by sending Anselin to District 9 without angering her, and providing enough crystal cores to keep Anselin sane, there would be a good result that both parties would be satisfied with.
Anselin said sadly in the back seat, "But if I want to eat the crystal core, I have to dig out the zombies' heads, which means I have to hurt my own kind and get my nails dirty. Ah~ How annoying."
Shu Lan took advantage of the opportunity and said, "I'll go, sister. I can help you."
Although she was also afraid of being disgusted, it was more important to make the boss happy.
Anselin said with satisfaction: "Okay, the car is too stuffy, I'll stay in the car."
After saying that, she opened the car door and climbed onto the roof as lightly and quickly as a spider, and then stayed there without making any noise.
Shu Lan thought that Anselin's current state was close to that of a Level 3 zombie. If every time a team of psychics drove through this area, a Level 3 zombie would silently crouch on the roof and follow them back to the survivor base...
She shuddered and couldn't think about it anymore. The story was too horrible.
Half an hour later, Shu Lan saw an upside-down head again, which frightened her so much that she slammed on the brakes.
Anselin knocked on the window next to her. Shu Lan opened it and heard her ask, "Lily, have you been to District 9?"
Shu Lan covered her heart and shook her head honestly.
"No wonder, I just lay down for a while and you took the wrong path."
Anselin narrowed her eyes. Her pupils were a little different from those of a normal person. Her pupils were dilated and gray, like a dead person. However, her behavior and language were as vivid as those of a living person.
"Lily, you're not going to deliberately send me somewhere else? Like to the survivor base, and then let them surround me, right?"
Shu Lan raised her hands and said sincerely, "Absolutely not! I only know that District 9 is in the south, and this road is even further south, so I'm heading this way. I swear, I don't want to go to the survivor base any more than you do!"
Anselin retracted her head and got back into the car: "I know, you can hear it by turning on the radio. District 15 is looking for you. Keep going, I'll show you the way."
Shu Lan said embarrassedly: "Sister, the car is out of gas."
"Go into town and find oil."
Shu Lan hesitated, "But after dark, there will be a lot of zombies in the city. I have to hurry and find a remote place like a mountaintop or a village to stay, or dig a hole in the ground and sleep until tomorrow morning before I can set out again."
Anselin said arrogantly: "What are you afraid of with me here? Go into the city."
This zombie sister has the highest status and strength in the entire car, and Shu Lan has no choice but to obey her.
As evening approaches, the zombies that have been resting in the city are getting restless, as it is almost time for them to go out and look for food.
When the power system goes on strike, humans will lose their vision at night, and encountering zombies will basically mean death.
Shu Lan actually didn't really want to go into the city, and she didn't want to offend Anselin.
As the car entered the city, the zombies around heard the news and came. Seeing the staggering figure surrounding them like a ghost, Shu Lan regretted listening to Anselin. Her car was blocked by zombies and could not move forward. She had no choice but to stop and asked tremblingly, "Sister, can I trust you?"
Anselin said, "Unlock the door."
At that moment, Shu Lan's world collapsed. Her face was ashen as death as she said, "You didn't deliberately trick me into coming to the city so that you could use us to feed your own kind. After we become zombies, we can grow two crystal cores for you to eat?"
Anselin said disdainfully, "Why go to so much trouble just for two crystal cores? I might as well go directly to the survivor base, where there are plenty of people. Be obedient and open the lock. I want to yell."
While Shu Lan was hesitating, the window was covered with black hands and terrifying faces. They grinned at Shu Lan and roared at her, banging on the window non-stop.
Anselin threatened: "Lily, if you don't obey me, I will bite you."
"Listen! I listen!"
I'm going to die anyway, and I've already reached a dead end, so I might as well try to trust Anselin again.
Shu Lan reached out and pressed the unlock button, then turned and pulled Shu Maomao into her arms, hugging him tightly with her eyes closed. This way, if a zombie came in, the first thing it would bite would be her, not her son.
The expected result of zombies rushing into the car and feasting on her did not happen. Instead, a loud and sharp roar sounded from the back seat. Anselin's roar was very clear and long, with fluctuating pitch, like a warning between wild beasts. The sound of slapping on the car windows disappeared after she finished roaring.
Shu Lan opened one eye and raised her head cautiously, seeing the zombies retreating one after another. The desire for flesh and blood was gone from their faces, and they were filled with confusion and fear instead.
She was shocked: "Are they afraid of you?"
Anselin lay down leisurely: "Of course, my sister is a high-level zombie."
Shu Lan couldn't even close her mouth in amazement: "You all have evolved language?"
"Cats have their own way of speaking, dogs have their own way of speaking, and zombies have their own way of communicating. What I just yelled at you to do is get out of here. This is my food."
Shu Lan said, "Oh, I am food."
Anselin said with a smile: "You are the reserve food. Take your pick. This city is my territory tonight. You can stay wherever you want."
This was said as if it was the exclusive favor of a domineering female CEO.
Shu Lan said bluntly: "Then I want to stay in a five-star hotel!"
Twenty minutes later, Shu Lan stood in the penthouse suite of a five-star hotel, flashlight in hand, exclaiming, "Wow, what a huge room!"
Anselin said, "I heard that high-end hotels all have backup generators. Wait here for a while, I'll go find one."
Shu Lan's eyes lit up: "Okay, okay!"
After she left, Shu Lan first used a towel to roughly sweep away the dust that had accumulated over the years, and she felt inexplicably good.
"Baby, this is the first time Mommy lives in such a big house! The electricity will be back soon, and the microwave and kitchen should be usable. I can cook for you again."
Shu Maomao said, "Mommy, listen."
He imitated Anselin's roar in the car just now, and roared for a while with ups and downs. Although Shu Lan couldn't remember it, she vaguely felt that Shu Maomao and Anselin had the same tone and emphasis.
Shu Lan was surprised and said, "She only yelled once and you learned it?"
Shu Maomao nodded and imitated the roar of an ordinary zombie.
Shu Lan had heard this a lot and was sure that his roar was no different from that of an ordinary zombie.
Shu Lan squatted down and hugged him, kneading and kissing him, praising him non-stop: "Amazing! How could I have such an amazing baby? Are you a genius? Or was you sent down from heaven to save me?"
Shu Maomao calmly let her kiss him, with a little bit of pride arcing up at the end of his brow.
