Yinquan Town (VI)
The place the priest went to was not David's mine, nor the silver miners' union waiting for him to explain, but David's grandmother's cottage.
At the entrance to the cottage, Anna sat calmly under the oak tree, polishing a wooden statue with a knife. She already had countless such statues at hand.
"Didn't you say that David will have eternal life? Then what about the others? What should they do?" The priest hesitated and did not ask "What should I do?"
"David, my dear grandson, will come back." Anna grinned and smiled strangely.
"As for the others, before you came to me for my rite, I told you that it would be impossible to cure so many people of their lung disease in such a short period of time unless they were sacrificed to the devil."
Derek's face turned pale. "So I... was also sacrificed to the devil."
"No, no, no," Anna clapped her hands happily. "The devil made a deal with you. You don't have to go to hell, at least not now. You contributed all the able-bodied men in Silver Spring Town to Satan, and he gave you something special in return..."
"So, in order to circumvent the government's ban, you persuaded everyone to go find Anna and use witchcraft to eliminate their lung disease symptoms. And the price you paid was that everyone in the town turned into zombies?" Shi Xiaofeng, who had been educated in the traditional medical knowledge system, had his three views overturned.
"I'm afraid it wasn't all at once..." Nie Yun pointed at the words on the wall. "At first, they were just like David, leading normal lives. They even said they were happy to be free of their terminal illness. Gradually, they realized something was wrong with them. As those human sensory experiences gradually disappeared, they became less and less human."
"With so many people going to the mine every day, it's bound to attract attention again. To cover up your evil deeds, you dug a secret passage leading to the mine under the church. These 'inhuman miners' only work in the dead of night. Normal people work in the mine during the day."
After Nie Yun finished speaking, the three of them felt a chill down their spines.
They seemed to see, under the moonlight, those who had lost control of their lives, filing into the church like the walking dead, passing through the dark passages, and continuing their work in the darkness. They had no home to return to, or were about to be separated from their families. Human memory was slowly fading, so they wrote down what they could remember in the secret passages like diaries...
The miners' lifeless existence was a perpetual money-printing machine for the mines. As the capitalists' pockets grew exponentially, Silver Springs gradually became a den of the living dead.
"You are really beasts." Shi Xiaofeng couldn't help but curse.
"David will come back in another form..." Liang Qing circled the sentence and looked up at the priest. "The black fog surrounding the town is David, right?"
The priest's face changed, but Liang Qing continued, "He has become some kind of evil spirit, and it's us, the outsiders, who are nourishing the zombies' existence and growth. You brought us here today to feed your old friend, right?"
The priest's expression was filled with shame. He lowered his head and murmured, "This is the last thing I can do for them."
None of them had expected the priest to admit it so bluntly without even trying to hide it. Shi Xiaofeng clenched his fists, wishing he could hit him.
"Eternal life is a painful punishment..." The priest lowered his head and thought of the letters sent by his daughter, the appearance of his granddaughter in the letters, his daughter's increasingly old face, and her dying wish to see her father again.
Time took away everything except his life.
If he had not heard David's words in the confessional that day, had not taken David to see the mine owner, had not coaxed and tricked the sick miners into accepting Anna's witchcraft baptism, or had he left this troubled place in time, perhaps everything would have been different.
"One last question. Have you told this to any other tourists who are visiting this time?"
The priest thought for a moment and then said slowly, "A few days ago, a young man in black came to the town history museum. He slipped in on his own and didn't do anything, except to change the layout of the things inside. On his way out, he saw me and walked around me."
The priest smiled somewhat sadly: "I am old, and if I want to trick people into coming, I'm sure my physical strength won't be reliable."
"Deceived" Liang Qingshi Xiaofeng Nie Yun: ...
"Do you remember what that person looks like?"
"Asian, in his twenties..." The priest shook his head and sighed, unable to remember any more details.
There was a brief silence between the three of them. A moment later, a dagger was thrown into the priest's arms. He looked up and saw Liang Qing looking at him indifferently.
"To prevent others from knowing these... secrets, we cannot let you out of the secret passage. You can choose to stay here for the rest of your life, or you can choose to go and meet your fellow villagers down there."
After that, she turned around and led the way away.
Not long after the three of them walked forward, they heard the priest's mournful chuckle from the depths of the darkness. He was reciting the words left behind by the miners decades ago, before they were completely transformed into zombies.
When Liang Qing and the others returned to the exit of the secret passage, they heard the priest say "Goodbye", followed by a muffled loud noise.
Liang Qing slammed the lock shut and closed the iron door. She clapped her hands: "He made his own choice."
——
The Sunset Tavern is the only lively place in Silver Spring Town. Most new players come here to look for clues first.
When Pete and Julian arrived, the tavern was already crowded. Some players were warily patrolling the area, guns drawn. Others had redeemed some food and devoured it eagerly. A few newcomers were clutching their heads, weeping helplessly. Then, they noticed a woman at the bar, clutching an eight-month-old child, earnestly pleading with the owner, Anna, to take her in.
"I'm sorry, I really don't have any dollars... Please, I heard that there are a lot of ghosts in this town at night. My child is still young, can you let us stay for one night..."
Anna looked like a plump woman in her sixties. She lifted her eyelids indifferently and looked at the woman in front of her. "I'm sorry, but we don't take credit."
The woman was about to cry. She lifted the baby in her arms a little higher and said, "Look at him. He's only eight months old..."
Anna still looked cold, but her gaze lingered on the baby for a while longer. It was a beautiful boy with light-colored eyes.
"Idiot..." Peter said to Julian, "This NPC is obviously not a good person, and you still want to join her? I'm afraid she and her child won't survive tomorrow."
Julian didn't want to worry about the other players' situations. She nervously whispered to Pete, "Does that net really work?"
The two of them pooled their points and spent all their money to buy a wire net from the mall. It was said that this net could trap most of the offensive beasts and monsters in the game dungeon.
The man wasn't actually that confident, but he had just formed a partnership with the woman and didn't want to lose his dignity as the backbone, so he insisted, "Of course. The black fog is our boss this round. Whoever can capture the monster in the black fog will be the winner."
Julian wanted to ask why other players didn't try to "catch" the monsters in the black fog, but Pete came up and told him his plan.
"Look, that woman is alone and unarmed. Go up to her and try to get close to her. I'll snatch the child away and throw him into the black fog. When the monster appears, I'll fish him out with my net."
Julian's eyes widened. "Why me?"
Peter's face darkened. "Are you as strong as I am? Staying alive is the most important thing here! Have you forgotten who rescued you from the cliff?"
Julian shut up, her face flushing crimson as she kept glancing at the woman and the child in her arms. Peter pushed her aside, "In a place where it's a life-or-death struggle, whoever has a child becomes a burden! Do you think she truly loves that child? If she has to, she'll sacrifice him anyway. He's not her own, after all!"
Julian didn't want to pay attention to Pete's cruel words, but she did see that several players were already eager to try. The young woman and her child were too eye-catching. It was said that only one in ten thousand players had a configuration with children. These people were often targeted by predators.
The woman at the bar also sensed the danger. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her face was filled with helplessness. She grabbed Anna's sleeve and said, "Just one night. I'll agree to anything!"
Seeing Julian completely ignore his orders, Peter was anxious to take action before the other players. He rushed forward to grab the child from the woman's arms, but the seemingly weak woman was prepared. She turned around and stabbed Peter in the chest with the electric baton.
The next second, Pete's whole body began to tremble strangely, his eyes rolled up, and he collapsed to the ground.
"Who dares to touch me!" The woman burst into tears and looked around in panic.
Julian covered her mouth as she watched all this, her mind racing—Pete was unconscious, the iron net was in her hands…
She stepped forward, dragged Pete away first, and threw him directly into the black fog next to the tavern at an extremely fast speed.
Immediately, a sickening chewing sound erupted from the black fog. A massive figure loomed, and Julian could even see the monster's gleaming fangs from its proximity. She pulled a wire net from her prop bag and hurled it fiercely at the monster. The net automatically opened in mid-air and quickly disappeared into the black fog.
Nearly every player in the tavern rushed out to watch the excitement unfold. The clanking of iron mesh echoed through the black fog, followed by the twisted roar of a monster. Julian gazed at the black fog with anticipation, unaware that the players behind him were already raising their guns.
The monster's roar summoned almost all the zombies in the town, and soon, fragments of the iron net and Pete's sneakers were thrown out from the black fog.
Julian thought something was wrong and was about to turn back when he was dragged into the black fog...
Everyone went into battle mode. The woman, armed only with a stun gun, was already panicking, and then the child in her arms burst into tears. The cries immediately attracted swarms of zombies, some of which crawled in through the windows. Everywhere you looked, they were densely packed.
The woman closed her eyes, resigned to her fate, when Anna, behind the counter, suddenly tugged at her. The bar's hidden door opened, and her ears suddenly fell silent. She opened her eyes and saw Anna ascending the steep stairs.
The woman had no choice but to follow. In the dark attic, the windows were sealed shut. On the floor lay a candle-shaped formation, and next to it was a small mountain of wooden figures.
"Didn't you say you would agree to any condition?" Anna smiled strangely and stood in front of the woman.
----
At this moment, Shi Xiaofeng, who was watching from the safe house, saw countless zombies running towards him from all directions. He looked anxiously in the direction of the tavern: "Boss, Nie Yun..."
"I'll take care of it." Liang Qing handed Liang Baobao to Shi Xiaofeng. "You and Baobao are not allowed to leave the safe house without my permission."
There are still 6 hours left in the safe house today. Six hours is enough for Liang Qing to complete his plan.
Shi Xiaofeng wanted to say something, but Liang Qing saw through his thoughts at a glance: "Nie Yun and Bao Bao are equally important to us, don't worry."
His eyes reddened slightly and he nodded.
Liang Qing left the porch, and the safe house immediately vanished behind her. She was trapped on the main street, where the voodoo zombies were surging forward. Liang Qing raised her two submachine guns and roared.
Hundreds of zombies nearby immediately turned around and ran towards Liang Qing with their gray eyes wide open.
The muzzles of the guns blazed with fire, and bullets flew out like a swarm of black bees, sending rows of zombies falling. The sound of gunfire attracted even more zombies, and from a distance, they seemed to be pouring in like a sea of clouds.
After the first round of attacks, Liang Qing had only advanced three or four meters when hundreds of zombies fell. Their bodies were quickly cleared by the system, leaving a large clearing in front of her. She replaced her magazines, raised her arms again, and trotted forward.
Behind the flash of fire, large groups of zombies fell. After a few minutes of this, the nearest zombie was already ten meters away from Liang Qing. She took out the powerful bombs she had prepared and threw them directly into the piles of zombies in all directions. The explosions blew the zombies' limbs and heads into the air, and the entire ground shook.
She walked to the center of the street and ran quickly on the path she had cleared. The tavern was getting closer, and so was the black fog...
In the hidden attic of the tavern, Nie Yun was holding Daisy, still looking pitiful and helpless.
"What are you going to do..."
"The child is not yours, how about we make a deal? I can guarantee that you leave here safely." Anna maintained a crazy smile on her face.
"What deal?" Nie Yun hugged the child tightly.
"A necromancy ritual, I'll replace the child's soul."
"Whose?"
"David. A poor wretch who's been trapped for a long time."
"I don't understand. After the replacement, what happens to the original child's soul?"
Anna generously pointed to the wooden figure at her feet: "There are so many small sculptures, you can choose whatever you like."
Nie Yun hugged the child tightly: "No, if the child dies, I will die too."
Anna laughed out loud: "Silly girl, how could that be? In the eyes of others, the child is still the same. He will not die, and he will never die."
Nie Yun remained unmoved, and Anna lost her patience. She stretched out her hand. Her nails were rough gray, like ten sharp pieces of stone. The dark purple veins on the back of her hand protruded from beneath the skin, reminiscent of a mummy's hand.
"It's not your turn to choose! Give me the child!"
Nie Yun screamed in fear and fell to the ground. The moment she let go of her hand, Anna snatched the child from her arms.
Anna rushed into the candle formation, mumbling something. Opposite her was an old mirror, but strangely, there was no Anna or the child in the mirror, only clouds of black mist.
Nie Yun stood up and tried to rush in to grab it, but the candle flames instantly rose up and connected into pieces, blocking her way.
"Give me back my child!"
Anna didn't even turn her head. The awakened child struggled in her arms. The chanting became louder and louder.
Amidst the chaos, the attic door opened silently. Liang Qing stood silently in the shadows.
She listened carefully to the spell Anna chanted, and a hint of enlightenment appeared in her eyes.
The black fog in the mirror became thicker and thicker, and many hands and feet stretched out from the black fog, as well as a pair of particularly bright eyes.
"David, you will be reborn in your familiar homeland. You will take up a new body in the name of a human being, take away his soul, take away..."
Countless hands in the mirror slowly coalesced into one, a single hand. Like Anna's, it was wrinkled, old, and bony. It reached straight toward the child in Anna's arms. Anna held the baby high, as if offering it in a sacrificial ceremony. The child was already gasping for breath from crying...
"Snap", with a crisp sound, the hand broke a second before touching the baby, falling to the ground like a piece of burnt wood.
An angry roar came from the mirror, and countless hands stretched out from inside, trying to wrap around the baby.
At the same time, Anna also looked up and looked around. She saw a tall girl standing outside the blazing fire, the flames illuminating the girl's face. Liang Qing raised the rocket launcher, aiming not at Anna, but at the mirror.
Anna opened her mouth to warn, but the bazooka had already flashed, and a small rocket flew out, rushed towards the mirror, and then disappeared into the black mist.
First, they heard a muffled sound coming from the center of the black fog, and then the black fog shattered into pieces, along with the black hands that had revealed the mirror. Inside was a man's roar, and the roar was like thunder that was infinitely amplified, making people's eardrums hurt.
There was fear in the roar.
As the black fog dissipated, the mirror shattered into pieces. The fragments flashed with light, reflecting Anna's broken and furious face.
"I'm going to kill you!" Anna rushed out holding the child. Nie Yun stood up and tried to snatch the child away, but he couldn't hold Anna at all.
Liang Qing stepped forward, pulled out a samurai sword, and chopped off Anna's head with one blow. The head rolled to the ground, following the grooves in the floor and falling into the fire.
The fire seemed to have life, gnawing at Anna's head. The head screamed miserably, and she stumbled to her knees, groping with her hands to try to pick up the head.
When the hand and the head were about to touch, Liang Qing stepped forward and kicked the head further away. Anna's head had been burned black and no longer screamed.
The head rolled, quelling the flames considerably. Liang Qing jumped into the fire and quickly gathered the wooden figures into her Qiankun bag. Behind her, Nie Yun and Daisy, who had returned to her original form, joined in to help.
The uncontrolled fire could set the whole house on fire. The three men collected most of the wooden figures on the ground and stood up to leave, but found that there was almost no way to go.
"There!" Liang Qing pointed to a window in the southwest corner of the attic that was sealed with wooden bars.
"Use a motorcycle!" Nie Yun swallowed nervously and hugged Daisy. Daisy's face turned even paler because of her excessive strength.
"Okay, hold me tight." Liang Qing took out the motorcycle she had put away in her Qiankun bag. She jumped on and started the car, while Nie Yun and Daisy sat in the back.
The flames grew taller and taller, nearly engulfing the three of them. Anna's head and body had long since vanished in the flames, and all that could be heard was the crackling sound of the house about to collapse.
The deafening roar of the motorcycle gave the three of them some confidence. Liang Qing backed away as far as she could, then immediately increased her speed to full. She closed her eyes and let the motorcycle carry them through the sea of fire before crashing heavily into the wooden window.
They did not feel any stinging sensation from burning. Liang Qing even felt a chill on her body as she passed through the flames.
The wooden window was extremely fragile due to the high temperature and was broken almost instantly. Fresh air filled in. Liang Qing looked at the ground. The movement in the attic attracted too many zombies.
Below them were groups of zombies, staring at the red attic with their white eyes.
"Hold on tight!" Liang Qing roared, the wind whistling in his ears. The motorcycle crashed heavily to the ground, knocking several zombies away. A two-square-meter open space was left around the three of them.
The motorcycle didn't fall apart, and despite the immense impact, all three men suffered only minor scrapes when they fell to the ground. Nie Yun, holding Daisy, didn't immediately pull his arms free, and the nearest zombie had already pounced over her head.
Liang Qing reacted extremely quickly, took out a □□ and hit him on the head.
The second one rushed over, and the zombies surged in like a tide. Daisy exerted her strength and conjured several dummies to surround Liang Qing and Nie Yun. The zombies couldn't tell them apart and started to bite them, leaving them alone for the time being.
But this only bought them a dozen seconds. Liang Qing helped Nie Yun stand up and looked around. The zombies were too close, making it difficult to use any weapons at this moment.
Suddenly, there was a crack of whip in his ears. The zombies on Liang Qing's left suddenly caught fire. After their bodies separated, they fell down in unison. With another whip, the zombies on Nie Yun's right also fell down.
There was a large area around them, and taking advantage of this gap, gunshots were heard all around them. The other players who had just been afraid of accidentally hurting Liang Qing opened fire and swept through the zombie group.
It would be easy with someone covering him. Liang Qing got on the motorcycle again and drove straight towards the zombies blocking the way. He then headed in the direction where the bullets came from and broke out unhindered.
Finally, the motorcycle stopped on a small hill. Liang Qing jumped off the motorcycle and raised his chin: "Hey, thank you."
Surprisingly, the ambushers here were actually three teenagers. They deliberately dressed in the clothes of local farmers and miners, looking very mature, but they couldn't hide the immaturity of their faces.
"H-How did you find us?"
Liang Qing breathed a sigh of relief: "The bullets are coming from too single a direction. Next time you ambush, you must spread out."
The young men looked at each other, then looked at Liang Qing and nodded a little embarrassedly.
"Where are your guardians?"
The leading boy stood up. He was about sixteen years old and already 1.7 meters tall. He adjusted the brim of his hat and said, "They're all dead."
"My name is Liang Qing."
"My name is Alan." The boy imitated and shook hands with her.
Liang Qing didn't ask any more questions. She looked at the weapons in the young man's hands, took out a bunch of wooden men from her bag and stuffed them into their hands.
The three teenagers were confused.
"If I'm not mistaken, these things are considered key clues, and the system will reward points. Keep them for now, and I'll buy some more powerful weapons later."
The boy was surprised: "Thank you!"
Liang Qing turned and was about to leave when Allen called out to her, "Did you eliminate the monsters in the black fog?"
Liang Qing shook his head frankly: "He was just injured and lost contact with his human agent. The next few days may be difficult..."
She thought for a moment and said seriously, "If you want a place to sleep peacefully, you can find me at the auto repair shop on Main Street. The code is..."
Liang Qing pondered for a moment, and behind him, Nie Yun spoke: "This damn Yinquan Town."
---
Back at the safe house, Liang Qing and Nie Yun witnessed Liang Baobao holding Shi Xiaofeng's trouser leg and crying with tears and snot all over his face.
Shi Xiaofeng was even more miserable than Liang Baobao. He acted as if he had seen a savior and quickly returned Liang Baobao to Liang Qing.
"You guys are finally back. I'm really being tortured to death by this brat!"
Liang Qing took Liang Baobao in. After spending some time with Nie Yun, she had already learned how to use Nie Yun's thinking to figure out why the little boy was crying.
The milk had just been drunk and the bottle was still on the coffee table.
The diaper was just changed not long ago, and there is no discomfort from feces and urine.
He woke up not long ago and now he is full of energy and doesn't seem to be fussing about sleeping.
Either he was fussing over sleep or he was in a bad mood. Liang Qing hugged the plump Liang Baobao and tried to look pleasant: "What's wrong? Isn't my sister back?"
This trick had worked for Liang Baobao before. He recognized people, especially Liang Qing. As long as he was sure Liang Qing was by his side, he would never bother crying any more.
But today was different. Liang Baobao seemed to have made up his mind to collapse. He narrowed his tear-filled eyes, confirmed Liang Qing's presence, and then let out a sharper cry. His neck turned red from crying, he was out of breath, and his little face was as red as a tomato.
Shi Xiaofeng scratched his ears, his face filled with frustration: "That's it! It's not that I didn't try hard, I just really don't know what's wrong with him!"
Nie Yun stepped forward and briefly took over his hand to comfort him, but Liang Baobao found out that his hand had been switched, and his lips turned pale from crying. He raised his hand and pressed it hard against Nie Yun's collarbone.
Nie Yun: I instantly felt the suffocating force.
She quickly returned Liang Baobao to Liang Qing and rubbed her bones: "Oh my god, how come this little fat boy is so strong."
The skin where Liang Baobao had pushed her was already red.
The crying continued unabated, making Daisy shake her head vigorously. She was a little overwhelmed and said weakly, "How about not letting him bite my hair anymore? As long as he stops crying, anything is fine."
Liang Qing looked down and saw Liang Baobao turning around and then turning back into his arms. The two looked at each other, one speechless and the other broke down in tears.
Liang Qing stared at Liang Baobao, thinking carefully about all the possibilities of him crying. Suddenly, her mind popped up the promise she had made to Liang Baobao in the men's dormitory of the Medical University: "I will never leave you alone again..."
Liang Baobao looks to be eight or nine months old and can sit up on his own, but he is just a tiny baby. Can such a young child remember what he says?
Liang Qing freed one hand and opened the system store. Over the past few hours, thanks to his continued discovery of the church's and the priest's secrets, and his raid on the tavern's owner's lair, the system had continuously sent him rewards. By now, Liang Qing's available points had increased to over two thousand.
She looked under [Other] and found the only baby carrier.
"This is a fantastic tool for carrying babies and children without any pressure or weight, eliminating the burden of battle. It can also turn them invisible when necessary, and it has mid-level weapon protection. It's the perfect tool for taking babies and children home and traveling, allowing them to enjoy close contact with their parents."
What a fantastic baby stroller! The asking price was 25,000, and Liang Qing was still a bit short of the points. She called on Nie Yun and Shi Xiaofeng, and both were willing to donate points. As long as Liang Baobao stopped crying, they would go out and fight the zombies right now.
Shi Xiaofeng was a little hesitant when transferring points, but he was very happy. Like Nie Yun, he transferred two thousand each.
A gray sling appeared in front of the three people. Liang Qing picked up the sling and put it on his back, then solemnly lifted Liang Baobao up.
"Until you can run and protect yourself, I'll carry you everywhere. I swear, today is the last time I'll leave you here. From now on, you'll keep me safe while I fight monsters, and you'll protect me while I rest, okay?"
Liang Baobao cried loudly, but suddenly became quiet. Liang Qing put him on her lap, letting him tilt his head to observe her, and couldn't help but laugh at his appearance.
Liang Qing shook the safety harness: "Do you want to try it?"
Liang Baobao sucked on his pacifier and raised his hand without hesitation. The next second, Liang Qing, with a smile on her face, wrapped him in a safety harness.
Looking in the mirror in the living room, Liang Baobao was lying comfortably on Liang Qing's chest, dancing with his hands and feet, and seemed to be very comfortable. Liang Qing jumped on the spot and did not feel any bumps.
Liang Qing clicked a red button on the strap, and the strap and Liang Baobao instantly disappeared. Liang Qing reached out to touch it, and Liang Baobao's small hand suddenly grasped his own. Then, as far as he could see, the space was still empty.
"If I had known there was such a good thing, why didn't I buy it as soon as I found it!" Shi Xiaofeng sighed.
"Because I'm poor." Liang Qing said concisely.
She pressed the button again, and Liang Baobao appeared in her sight, looking up at her with a smile.
Liang Qing's appearance was reflected in those light-colored pupils, as if they were filled with stars. Liang Qing lowered his head and kissed the top of Liang Baobao's head: "From now on, you and I can always fight side by side."
After comforting Liang Baobao, the three of them sat down and began to review what had just happened.
Nie Yun carefully recounted to Shi Xiaofeng everything Anna had done.
"The person in the black fog is David? No wonder the priest said that. Anna said before that David would come back in a different identity."
"She may have long ago planned to turn Silver Springs into a hell on earth for breeding poisonous insects. So David's sudden death was also part of her plan."
"Why is she now looking for a new body for David's soul to possess?"
Nie Yun thought about taking Daisy on an adventure, and felt relieved that he was lucky to have Daisy, so he didn't really need to use Baobao as bait.
She patted Bao Bao's head lovingly, and said to Daisy sincerely, "Daisy, you've worked hard today. Were you scared just now?"
When Daisy Doll heard someone ask her for the first time if she was afraid, her pale face trembled slightly and she managed to utter, "Why should I be afraid?"
Seeing all three of them looking at her, she added, "I don't have a soul."
Liang Qing suddenly reached out, hugged Daisy to his side, and said solemnly: "No, you do."
"Maybe because there are more and more powerful players in the town, Anna feels that this place is no longer suitable to continue. She needs to take David away and look for new ground."
This copy is different from the previous ones. There are no plot clues at all. Just from the number of monsters and difficulty, it is far higher than the previous level.
"If she really leaves successfully, then it will most likely mean that all players have failed in this game."
As Liang Qing finished speaking, Nie Yun and Shi Xiaofeng felt a chill run down their spines. Fortunately, they had taken the risk today. If Anna had tricked someone else in advance, they wouldn't even know how they died.
"By the way, were those three young men the only ones who helped us just now?" Nie Yun raised her confusion. She could clearly see that each of the three men had a gun and a few ammunition boxes, but no other advanced weapons.
In other words, they relied on their own accuracy to help Liang Qing and the others out of trouble.
"A Red Flame Whip costs 10,000 points. It has the ability to actively identify nocturnal monsters, especially zombies, and can kill them with one strike. The downside is that it's only effective for five hours and can only be used at night." Liang Qingfan found the description of the Red Flame Whip in the mall and read it word for word.
Nie Yun suddenly understood, while Shi Xiaofeng looked embarrassed.
Liang Qing stood up and kicked the trash can, which was littered with various bloody bandages, leftover disinfectant and ointment.
"Tell me, how did you make so much money in such a short time after I left?"
Nie Yun then turned around and glared at Shi Xiaofeng, whose face turned red.
"Rent... short-term rental..." Shi Xiaofeng blurted out these three words. Nie Yun's eyes widened. He said with a stiff upper lip, "Specially rented to those seriously injured players."
After Liang Qing left, Shi Xiaofeng, restless and unable to concentrate on taking care of the baby, searched the points mall for a few weapons that could accurately strike zombies, then found the cheapest and easiest one to use.
With his accuracy, shooting is far inferior to cracking a whip.
Nie Yun was angry: "Aren't you afraid of attracting someone with bad intentions, like that John? If they let the wolf into the house and someone took Bao Bao away, you, a weak chicken, would be powerless to do anything..."
Liang Qing interrupted her, raised his chin and pointed at a small instrument he had hidden under the sofa pillow: "No, I'm very smart."
Shi Xiaofeng actually bought a portable oximeter from the mall. He set the alarm threshold to 92%, and anyone with a value higher than that wouldn't be allowed in. In other words, anyone who got in was half dead.
Shi Xiaofeng said aggrievedly: "Yeah, of course I won't risk my safety. I make a living with my brain. I'll let them go after treating their wounds. It's a quick buck, a good money."
A few seconds later, Shi Xiaofeng suddenly raised his voice: "Nie Yun, who are you calling a weakling? Do you have any conscience?"
…
The map showed that the zombie density at this moment was significantly less than what they had initially seen, by nearly a third. Although there were still countless zombies in the entire town, at least it gave them hope.
"The black fog has thinned, but there is still no exit in the entire town." Nie Yun pointed in a circle, and finally his fingertips stopped at a place called "Dongquan".
"It's surprisingly clean here."
The three people's eyes stayed there, and sure enough, this was the only tiny place in the entire town where no zombies were wandering around.
Dongquan is not a river or stream, but a hill. If Nie Yun hadn't looked carefully, they would have probably overlooked it.
Ever since the priest told them that "silver ore flows out of the spring", their investigation targets were all concentrated in the waters near Yinquan Town, but unfortunately they couldn't see anything clear on the map.
"This is very suspicious. Suppose the old man was speaking metaphorically, or he wasn't at the scene. When the people in the town talked about the place where the first mine was discovered, the word 'Dongquan' contained 'quan', so everyone assumed it was brought out by the water flow." Shi Xiaofeng analyzed.
No matter what, there is such a clean place in the zombie den, it is worth exploring anyway.
The safe house was running out of time. Liang Qing was about to pack up the safe house when he heard someone outside the window clearly say, "This damn Yinquan Town."
