Chapter 108 Framed

A group of men in black appeared sporadically in the general's mansion.

The mansion was quiet, and the man in black seemed to have entered an empty space.

They went straight to the study.

This is where Jiang Zhongyong usually spends the most time.

He used to work there, but now he just reads books and appreciates calligraphy and paintings to pass the time.

The leader of the men in black was puzzled.

Are the guards in the General's Mansion all useless?

No one noticed that so many men in black had come in.

As expected, the general's mansion had fallen on hard times, and even the servants had become lax.

The joy of impending success prevented the man in black from giving it much thought.

They dispersed to several locations and placed the fabricated evidence of treason into a secret compartment in Jiang Zhongyong's study and his bedroom.

The night wind, lurking in the shadows, scoffed at the pig-brained nature of these people.

The Prince of Yu sent him to protect the general's mansion, but he thought his master was worrying unnecessarily.

The mighty general is now practically invisible in the capital.

Who will still care?

These people are really stupid. If it were so easy to enter the General's Mansion, what would become of Jiang Zhongyong's lifelong reputation?

Just as the men in black had hidden the evidence and were about to leave, torches suddenly lit up all around them, and the guards of the general's mansion surrounded them.

"Who are you? How dare you trespass into the General's Mansion!" the guard captain shouted.

Upon seeing this, the men in black realized they had fallen into a trap and drew their weapons to prepare for battle.

But they were no match for the well-trained guards and were quickly subdued.

At this moment, Jiang Zhongyong and Jin Wang came out together.

It turned out that in order to cover his tracks, Prince Jin made up an excuse in the middle of the night, saying that Consort Zheng was unwell and wanted to invite Jiang Chuwei to the palace.

The son personally came to invite the doctor, naturally out of filial piety.

No one can say that he offended the General's Mansion.

Prince Jin thought this would win the general's favor.

After all, who wouldn't praise someone for personally visiting their mother to find medical treatment?

Jin Wang's true intentions were not what they seemed; Jiang Zhongyong was a straightforward person.

The Prince of Jin came in person because he wanted to know for sure whether the man in black had succeeded.

When the Prince of Jin saw the captured man in black, his face turned extremely ugly.

He realized that his plan had failed again, and this time it might backfire.

Jiang Zhongyong glanced at Prince Jin and said coldly, "Your Highness, what's going on? Why did your men break into my general's mansion at night?"

Prince Jin said, "General Jiang, there must be some misunderstanding. I absolutely did not send anyone here. These men in black must be spies from another country, trying to sow discord between us."

Prince Jin was even considering killing the man in black.

Several of the men in black wore shoes that resembled those of the Prince Jin's guards.

Jiang Zhongyong knew this detail, even though others might not.

Each prince could support five hundred soldiers.

You can tell which household the Bai family belongs to just by looking at the pattern on the top edge of their shoes.

Jiang Zhongyong looked sharply at Prince Jin and said, "Your Highness, this matter is of utmost importance. I will report it to the Emperor and let him decide." After saying that, he ordered his men to take the man in black away.

Prince Jin was secretly annoyed; he knew he was in deep trouble this time. He had originally intended to frame Jiang Zhongyong, but his plan had backfired, putting him in a difficult position instead.

"I will also explain the situation to my father and give the general an explanation," Prince Jin said, trying to appear calm.

Jiang Zhongyong snorted coldly, "I hope so."

At this moment, a guard stepped forward and reported, "Reporting to the general, a letter was found on the man in black."

Jiang Zhongyong took the letter, opened it, and read: "Jiang Zhongyong has colluded with the enemy and betrayed the country; the evidence is conclusive..."

His face instantly turned grim. "This is clearly a deliberate frame-up!"

“General, please calm down. I trust your character. This must be a conspiracy by treacherous people,” said Prince Jin.

"Hmph, if that's really the case, this general will definitely not let it go," Jiang Zhongyong said.

"Guards! Turn the study upside down and find this thing for me."

The Prince of Jin was secretly pleased with himself.

Jiang Zhongyong has shot himself in the foot.

Whatever is found in the Imperial Study?

He was unable to defend himself against anything found in the general's mansion.

The soldiers began searching the study, and soon one of them came in with an envelope. "General, we found it."

Jin quickly took the envelope first.

A slight smile played on his lips.

The general's mansion is just waiting to be ransacked and its entire clan wiped out.

Jiang Zhongyong quickly took the envelope, opened it, and immediately burst into laughter.

Prince Jin was baffled by the laughter. He was about to die, and yet he still had the mood to laugh.

"General, why don't you take a look and see what's written inside?" Prince Jin suppressed his excitement.

These people are about to be defeated by him.

"Treason and collusion with the enemy will result in the extermination of nine generations of one's family."

His plan to kill two birds with one stone was to punish both Prince Yu and Jiang.

"This...this is a frame-up!"

Prince Jin sneered, "General Jiang, the evidence is here. What else do you have to say? I will report the truth to my father."

After saying that, he and his men prepared to turn and leave.

Jiang Zhongyong shouted, "Is the Prince of Jin so confident because he already knew that these things would appear in my study?"

"I didn't know!" Prince Jin turned his head away guiltily.

"What a convenient excuse for 'ignorance'!" A sly glint flashed in Jiang Zhongyong's eyes. "In that case, let's await the Emperor's judgment!"

Jin Wang's heart sank; he hadn't expected Jiang Zhongyong to be so calm. Did he have a backup plan?

Just then, footsteps sounded outside the door. A guard said, "My lord! Prince Yu has arrived!"
