Chapter 11 Sowing Discord

Jiang Chuwei fled the clinic as if she were escaping.

She had never been this shameless in both of her lives.

Watching Jiang Chuwei's retreating figure, Lin Muheng's eyes darkened.

"Night Breeze! Go and investigate what has happened at the Marquis of Pingyang's residence recently."

"Yes!" The night breeze quickly disappeared.

"nightingale!"

"Your subordinate is here!"

"Take your indenture to Miss Jiang. If she doesn't want you, don't come back."

Nightingale took the contract, her hands trembling.

If Miss Jiang doesn't want her, there's only one path waiting for her: death.

King Yu did not employ useless people.

"Master! A carriage has been sent to take Miss Jiang away," Doctor Bai said, bowing.

Lin Muheng nodded.

The carriages of the Prince Yu's residence were too ostentatious.

The clinic's carriage was inconspicuous, but Miss Jiang did not refuse it.

She had planned to visit the market.

But at this moment, she missed her father and mother terribly.

Nightingale caught up with Jiang Chuwei, presented the indenture, and knelt on both knees: "Miss! Please take me in."

Jiang Chuwei looked at Nightingale, one of the four guards of Prince Yu.

Her nose tingled with emotion: Lin Muheng still loved her as sincerely as ever.

"Get up!" Jiang Chuwei took the indenture: "From now on, you're mine. Don't worry, I won't mistreat you."

"Yes, Your Majesty... This servant obeys!"

Xia Qi looked at her curiously: "Where did you come from? Why did you become our young lady's disciple? You can't steal her favor from me in the future."

Nightingale remained expressionless in the face of Xia Qi's rambling.

Chunqin's heart pounded. Miss, what kind of agreement has been reached with Prince Yu?

Why was Prince Yu willing to go to such lengths to help the young lady?

The effort and resources required to train a secret guard are far greater than those required for an ordinary guard.

But the young lady didn't seem surprised at all.

These past few days, the young lady has really become someone she doesn't recognize anymore.

Upon returning to the General's Mansion once again, Jiang Chuwei finally couldn't hold back her tears, which streamed down her face.

The gatekeeper looked at the young lady, then turned and ran into the mansion.

"General, Madam, Miss is back!"

A woman came in hurriedly with two maids: "Wei'er, my daughter, you're finally back."

"Mother!" Including her previous life, Jiang Chuwei hadn't seen her mother for eight years.

She hugged her mother tightly, afraid that she would be separated from her at any moment.

My mother was also a pampered young lady raised in her maternal grandparents' home, and she was most afraid of pain in her life.

But in his past life, he was beheaded.

How much pain the mother must have felt!

"You silly child! You've gotten married and rarely even come back to your parents' home. Let your mother see how thin my Wei'er has become."

The mother's eyes were blurry with tears.

Her daughter, whom she had pampered since childhood, became the mistress of another family, serving her parents-in-law wholeheartedly, and rarely even returning to the general's mansion.

Seeing his wife and daughter crying uncontrollably, even General Jiang, a rough and uncultured man, had tears in his eyes.

"Alright, it's good that you're back," he said softly.

Just like her mother, she had the same heavy nasal tone.

“My dear child, you’ve been wronged. Are those rumors outside true? Is your son-in-law really getting entangled with a woman right under your nose?” The mother asked, full of worry.

"Yes, the young master lied to me for three years." Jiang Chuwei did not hide anything. They were close relatives and would have to work together to deal with outsiders in the future.

"This is outrageous! I'll go and chop that beast down!" General Jiang was as hot-tempered as ever.

Her daughter suffered such a great injustice.

"You think that won't work? Then I'll go and beat him until he's really done for." General Jiang said, and was about to go and deal with Lu Yanke.

The Jiang family is keeping a low profile now, but that doesn't mean they're cowards.

He agreed to the marriage with the Lu family for two reasons: first, to keep his promise; and second, because he was attracted by the decline of the Marquis's mansion.

The Emperor was wary of the Jiang family, and Jiang Chuwei's marriage was intentionally arranged for someone from a lower-ranking family.

If the Jiang family were to arrange a marriage between someone of equal social standing, it would surely arouse the Emperor's suspicion.

Lu Yanke was just a minor fifth-rank official with no real power, and the emperor was happy to see the Jiang and Lu families unite by marriage.

General Jiang, however, believed himself to be quite good at judging people, so how could he have made such a big mistake in his daughter's marriage?

"Father, leave it to your daughter to handle." She didn't want her father to confront that scumbag.

The father loved his daughter dearly, and the general was so weak and pathetic that he could kill the scumbag with a single punch.

It's not worth risking your life for someone like that.

"Daughter, if you want to come home, your father will come to fetch you anytime." The dignified and mighty first-rank general was so moved that he was almost in tears.

"Okay!" Jiang Chuwei threw herself into her father's arms.

She had never been this close to her father since she grew up.

But she's already died once, so she's abandoned all rules.

These are her closest relatives; from now on, it will be her turn to protect them.

General Jiang was stunned for a moment, and the eight-foot-tall man couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness.

His beloved daughter, whom he cherished dearly, worked tirelessly for her in-laws, only to be met with heartless and cruel humiliation from them.

Nowadays, the General's Mansion is as low-key as ever, like oil being poured on a raging fire.

They actually got bullied by a playboy.

“Your son-in-law also harbors resentment towards your father,” the mother sighed.

“How could he possibly blame his father?” Jiang Chuwei asked in surprise.

"Not long ago, he came to your father and asked him to find some connections to transfer him to the position of commander of the Imperial Guards, but your father did not agree."

"The commander of the Imperial Guards, what a big face he has!" Jiang Chuwei was so angry she almost laughed.

He asked his father-in-law for an official position without going through his wife.

He's asking for the position of Second Rank Imperial Guard Commander. Hasn't he taken a piss and looked at himself in the mirror?

“When he mentioned this position, your father felt that this person wasn’t someone who would work hard and honestly.” The mother looked at her daughter with heartache.

With such an ambitious and unrealistic husband, how could the daughter possibly have a good life?

"When did the young master come?" Jiang Chuwei asked hurriedly.

In his previous life, Lu Yanke did indeed become the commander of the Imperial Guards.

However, the emperor had already changed by then.

“This happened last month. If your father had asked the Emperor to say that, the Jiang family would have been in deep trouble.”

"The Emperor has been suspicious of your father for quite some time now. If we place the Crown Prince by the Emperor's side, is it to protect him or to monitor him?"

“Mother, if a woman confined to the inner quarters can think of this, how could Lu Yanke not? He still came to beg Father; he has no good intentions at all,” Jiang Chuwei said angrily.

“He knew his daughter wouldn’t agree to come begging to her father, so he came himself. He’s here to dig a pit for his father.” Jiang Chuwei wished she could go back and tear Lu Yanke apart.

It seems that he had already gotten in touch with the Prince of Jin at this point.

“Your father is worried he’ll take it out on you when he gets back.” Her mother looked at her questioningly.

Jiang Chuwei then remembered that Lu Yanke had indeed been giving her the silent treatment for many days last month.

Jiang Chuwei simply thought it was because he was impotent, and that he was moody a few days a month.

"Fortunately, your father is sensible and didn't offend the Emperor out of consideration for you." The mother was overjoyed.
