Chapter 115 The Old Lady's Secret

Madam Jiang led Wen Xiuli to the main hall.

Lin Muheng realized that Wen Xiuli was the woman from earlier, and he looked at Jiang Chuwei.

Jiang Chuwei's face darkened.

Madam Jiang looked at her granddaughter with disapproval: "Wei'er, the Prince has arrived, and you don't even come to see your grandmother."

Lin Muheng understood.

The old lady's disdain for Wei'er was obvious to the naked eye.

Lin Muheng was displeased; his princess had to be mindful of this old lady's mood.

"Granddaughter greets grandmother." Jiang Chuwei gave a perfunctory curtsy.

"Hmph!" Old Madam Jiang snorted coldly: Do you still regard me as your grandmother?

Lin Muheng's face turned cold. This person dared to give him attitude even though they were right in front of him.

In places he doesn't see, he'll definitely use filial piety to pressure people even more.

"I miss my fiancée, and I hope the old lady will forgive my abrupt visit," Lin Muheng said.

The pleasant voice made Wen Xiuli gaze at Prince Yu even more infatuatedly.

Madam Jiang quickly put on a fawning smile: "Your Highness is too kind. You may come whenever you wish." Then she turned to Wen Xiuli and said, "Li'er, why don't you greet Your Highness?"

"Xiuli greets Your Highness." Wen Xiuli's voice was soft, and her demeanor was elegant, truly captivating.

It's obvious to everyone that it's an act.

Lin Muheng responded calmly, but inwardly he was even more certain of his earlier guess. It seems the Jiang family is truly extraordinary…

This old lady is clearly not someone to be trifled with.

No wonder I'd never heard Vera talk about her grandmother before.

Madam Jiang's eyes darted back and forth between Prince Yu and Wen Xiuli.

The Prince of Yu didn't even glance at her.

It seems we'll have to find another way to get Li Jie'er married into the Prince's mansion.

Wen Xiuli gazed at Prince Yu with deep affection, making the prince's hair stand on end.

If it weren't for the presence of the general and his wife, he would have definitely gouged out her eyes.

Wen Xiuli's gaze was fixed on Prince Yu. With her grandmother's support, she was not afraid of Prince Yu.

At this moment, Jiang Chuwei said softly to Lin Muheng, "Your Highness, I am a little tired and would like to go back to rest first."

What a disgrace!

Lin Muheng immediately understood. He looked at Jiang Chuwei gently and said, "In that case, you should go and rest first."

After Jiang Chuwei left, Lin Muheng also made an excuse to leave. Old Madam Jiang hurriedly tried to persuade him to stay, but Lin Muheng was determined to go.

Prince Yu did not give the old lady any face.

After Prince Yu left, the old lady vented her anger on the general: "It's all because of your good daughter that I lost face in front of the prince."

General Jiang dared not speak in front of his mother.

Madam Jiang couldn't help but retort, "Why did Mother bring Li'er here with such a shameless attitude? Isn't it because you wanted to do something despicable, but Prince Yu saw through it and didn't give you face?"

“Mother, who can we blame? If you hadn’t insisted on interfering in Chu Wei’s marriage, how could Prince Yu have given us such a hard time?” General Jiang retorted without backing down.

"You..." Old Madam Jiang was so angry that she pointed her trembling finger at Madam Jiang, "Well, now that you've grown wings, you dare to talk back to me!"

"I wouldn't dare, I'm just stating the facts," Madam Jiang said, but her eyes certainly held a hint of daring.

Seeing this, Madam Jiang could no longer make a scene, and could only say sullenly, "Never mind, we'll talk about it later." With that, she turned and left with Wen Xiuli.

General Jiang watched his mother's departing figure, sighed helplessly, and turned to Madam Jiang, saying, "Madam, please don't argue with Mother anymore. Only with harmony in the family can everything prosper."

Madam Jiang nodded and said, "I know, but I don't want to see Chu Wei suffer. General, we still need to make plans as soon as possible and not let Wen Xiuli succeed."

General Jiang hummed in agreement, and the two went back to their room together.

How could they not know what Wen Xiuli was thinking?

"Husband, don't you think Mother is behaving very strangely?"

"What's unusual?" Jiang Zhongyong was completely baffled.

"Are you not your mother's biological son?" Seeing that Jiang Zhongyong was confused, Madam Jiang bluntly asked, "Didn't you see what your mother was thinking today?"

"What are your thoughts?" General Jiang asked.

"Mother wants to marry Li'er into the Prince's mansion," Madam Jiang said indignantly.

"Mother knows perfectly well that Prince Yu is Wei'er's fiancé, yet she still brings Sister Li to flaunt in front of the Prince. She really isn't afraid of losing face," Madam Jiang said, growing angrier with each word.

"How can this be!" General Jiang slammed his fist on the table in anger. "Wei'er and Prince Yu's engagement was arranged long ago. How can it be changed so easily?"

"Of course I know, but Mother..." Madam Jiang said helplessly.

"No, I absolutely cannot let this happen," General Jiang said firmly. "I'll go talk to my mother right now."

After saying this, General Jiang turned and left. Madam Jiang watched his departing figure, feeling somewhat relieved.

However, she knew Jiang's personality well; she would not give up until she achieved her goal.

It's pointless to talk about it.

She called out to the general.

"Husband, why does Mother dote on Li'er so much, but find fault with Wei'er so much? Don't you think this is illogical?" Madam Jiang asked in confusion.

“My mother has always been like this! She only ever used me,” General Jiang explained.

"What exactly is the relationship between Mother and Sister Li?" Madam Jiang finally revealed what she had been thinking.

"What does it matter? My mother just favors her own family." The general dismissed the argument.

A seed of doubt was planted in Madam Jiang's heart.

Madam Jiang didn't waste any more words with him.

She can check it herself.
