Chapter 186: Finally, an argument broke out.

Mrs. Jiang immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

They're related by marriage. We shouldn't let it affect their daughter.

After only a short time getting to know Zheng Yao, Madam Jiang took a great liking to her.

Madam Jiang had heard about Madam Zheng's thoughts before, and she had been laughing at Jiang Chuwei behind her back.

But her daughter has already slapped others in the face, so there's no need to dwell on it.

The three of them walked and talked.

Madam Zheng looked at the vast General's Mansion and secretly marveled.

The Emperor's treatment of the General's Mansion was indeed different from that of others.

Besides its prime location, the scenery here is comparable to, if not better than, the residences of princes and nobles.

Despite the Zheng family's ancestral military achievements, their mansion was not as grand as the general's mansion.

Madam Jiang led the two to the place where Jiang He and Jiang Hai lived, and also showed them the courtyards where their two daughters-in-law would live in the future.

Madam Zheng's cold expression finally disappeared, replaced by a warm one.

Madam Ye also breathed a sigh of relief. She had always worried that the Jiang family was showing favoritism and that her daughter had been wronged.

After all, her son-in-law is the youngest son, so it's common for him to suffer some losses.

"The General's Mansion is indeed very spacious and bright. Madam is very thoughtful," Madam Zheng said with a genuine smile.

Mrs. Jiang also has a daughter, and she knows that the two of them will definitely care about whether their daughter will live comfortably in the future.

Letting them see with their own eyes where their daughter will live in the future will put their minds at ease.

Hearing this, Madam Jiang felt much more at ease. "I'm glad you're satisfied. We'll all be family from now on. If there's anything you're not happy about, just let me know. I'll renovate it according to your wishes before the children marry into the family."

Madam Ye quickly nodded and replied, "Thank you, Madam Jiang. Our preferences are not important; as long as the children are doing well, that's all that matters."

Mrs. Zheng chimed in, "Yes, yes, as long as the child is comfortable."

It's rare for two people who are completely at odds to agree on something.

Indeed, all mothers in the world share the same heart: they all want the best for their children.

They sat down in the pavilion, and Madam Zheng said, "I will have someone come to the manor tomorrow to take measurements. I wonder if that would be convenient for you, Madam?"

Madam Jiang immediately agreed, "You may come whenever you like, Madam. I will inform the gatekeeper, and you can come as soon as you wish."

Madam Ye was taken aback. Is it really that particular?

Why didn't she think of customization?

The family had already prepared their daughter's dowry.

Do all these aristocratic families like this kind of thing? She and her husband climbed up from the bottom, and they really didn't know that they had to go to the other family's house to take measurements before marrying off their daughter.

Not to be outdone, Madam Ye immediately said, "I'll have Huan'er come and see for herself what she needs to buy."

My daughter likes to go to the General's Mansion anyway, so I'll let her go there a few more times.

A maid brought in tea and poured it for each of the three ladies.

Madam Jiang then got to the point, "The main reason I invited you two here today is to discuss the wedding date for our children."

Madam Ye immediately asked, "Has Madam set a date?"

Madam Jiang tilted her head slightly, her gaze gently falling on her, and said slowly, "Isn't this something I need to ask for your opinions? After all, this daughter is the apple of your eye, how can I make the decision on my own?"

She quickly replied, "I have no objection, as long as Huan'er can be married into the family as soon as possible."

Speaking of her daughter, Madam Ye couldn't help but frown slightly, secretly worried.

This girl is always thinking about Jiang Hai, which is really worrying her mother to death.

If the fact that he spends all his time in the General's Mansion gets spread around, who knows what gossipy women will say about it.

Ye Huan has never been restrained much since childhood, and his personality is just like a boy's, running around and playing all day long.

As a mother, she sometimes wondered why Jiang Hai, a top scholar in the imperial examination, would look down on her good-for-nothing daughter.

Could it really be, as outsiders say, that it's due to complementarity?

Jiang Hai was well-versed in literature and knowledge from a young age, and perhaps he was drawn to his daughter's innocent and unrestrained nature, free from the constraints of social norms.

However, although her daughter is not proficient in any of the traditional arts, she has a shining quality that is hard for others to match—she is sincere.

As the saying goes, sincerity is the most powerful weapon in getting along with others.

Anyone who comes into contact with Ye Huan will be unconsciously infected by his sincerity, and their mood will become pleasant as a result.

Even she, as the mother, has such a lovely and innocent daughter, and her daily life is filled with laughter and joy, which is incredibly pleasant and comfortable.

It's likely that Hai-ge'er's special affection for Huan-er stemmed from this very quality.

Mrs. Ye thought of her daughter, her face full of tenderness.

Madam Zheng stared at her with a mocking expression, a slight smirk playing on her lips, and sneered, "Madam Ye, look at your hurried appearance, could it be that the Ye family can't afford to raise another daughter? Why are you in such a rush to marry her off!"

Upon hearing this, Madam Ye's face instantly darkened, and she thought to herself: "Hmph, Madam Zheng is clearly here to cause trouble."

She's good at arguing! Who's afraid of who!

Madam Ye retorted without backing down, "Madam Zheng, that's a rather harsh way to put it! What parent doesn't worry about their child's marriage? It's you who's been searching for a son-in-law all day long, and you're much more enthusiastic than I am!"

After saying that, Madam Ye glared fiercely at Madam Zheng.

Everyone knows that Madam Zheng was worried about her youngest daughter's marriage the other day!

Madam Zheng, however, remained unperturbed and continued sarcastically, "Oh ho, Madam Ye, are you trying to start a fight with me? But your eagerness to marry off your daughter certainly raises eyebrows!"

"What are you thinking? What have my Ye family done to offend you that you dare to speak to me in such a sarcastic tone?"

Madam Ye was furious. "You can talk to her, but how could you speak ill of her daughter?"

"I think you're just jealous that my Huan'er has a good marriage!" Madam Ye retorted angrily.

Madam Zheng retorted, "Jealous? My son-in-law is just as good, why would I be jealous of your daughter?"

They started arguing again, Mrs. Jiang sighed inwardly.

"Alright, alright, ladies, don't be angry. Let's talk this out." If they continued, they would start attacking each other's sons, so Madam Jiang quickly tried to smooth things over.

"Hmph!" Madam Ye and Madam Zheng turned their heads away at the same time, ignoring each other.

Madam Jiang poured two cups of tea, saying, "We'll all be relatives from now on, why bother arguing?"

Madam Ye was a fiery temper; she never expected that Madam Zheng, who was always so reserved, would also argue with someone so directly.

It seems that old grievances are still bothering them.
