Chapter 250 Mother Enters the Palace

Shortly after Lin Muheng left, Madam Jiang slowly entered the room, led by her servants.

When she caught sight of her beloved daughter, a joyful smile immediately appeared on her face, but then she prepared to bow deeply to Jiang Chuwei.

However, Jiang Chuwei, quick-witted and agile, stepped forward and gently but firmly supported her mother's arm as it was about to bend, saying softly, "Mother! There are no other outsiders present here, you don't need to be so polite."

However, Madam Jiang gently shook her head and replied with a smile, "That may be true, but etiquette must not be abandoned! As the Empress, certain rules must be established; only in this way can one truly establish authority."

After saying that, Madam Jiang looked at her daughter with a smile on her face.

Hearing this, Jiang Chuwei couldn't help but retort coquettishly, "Oh dear, Mother, I'm the only one left in this entire harem. Even if we set rules, who would we be showing them to?"

After saying that, she winked playfully at her mother.

Madam Jiang was speechless for a moment, thinking that this was indeed the case, and it seemed that she had not considered things thoroughly enough.

However, her daughter is truly fortunate! In such a vast harem, she is the only mistress.

She nodded slightly, indicating that she agreed with her daughter's statement, and did not stand on ceremony any further.

Then, the mother and daughter smiled at each other and took their seats.

As soon as Madam Jiang sat down, she held her daughter's hand tightly and refused to let go, her concern evident in her words: "Wei'er, I heard that you are pregnant. Your father was overjoyed when he heard the news! That's why he kept urging me to come to the palace to see you. I've brought you a lot of delicious snacks this time, all of which are suitable for pregnant women."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chuwei's heart skipped a beat, and she couldn't help but tentatively ask, "Are there any sour foods in it?"

Madam Jiang nodded gently and replied, "Of course! I think you must prefer sour foods now."

Jiang Chuwei chuckled. Why was she so bothered by sour food?

Not wanting to disappoint her mother's good intentions, she turned to Qiu Shu and instructed, "Put all these snacks away carefully!"

Besides these, there are many other exquisite and delicate clothes, all made by my second and third sisters-in-law.

Madam Jiang's face was beaming with a bright smile, and her joyful expression showed that she was very satisfied with what her two daughters-in-law had done.

Jiang Chuwei couldn't help but feel curious and asked in confusion, "Did Third Sister-in-law also participate?"

Upon hearing this, Madam Jiang chuckled and replied, "Yes, she's really taking these things very seriously now! She even said she wants to learn how to be a good wife and mother."

Jiang Chuwei was quite surprised to hear this and couldn't help but say, "Given Third Sister-in-law's personality, it's extremely rare for her to sit quietly for an hour or two."

Madam Jiang smiled and shook her head, saying slowly, "People are always changing."

Although Ye Huan is still impulsive, he is much more reliable in his actions now.

Not only was Madam Jiang surprised, but even Madam Ye was astonished by the changes in her daughter.

However, Madam Jiang later came to a realization.

Madam Ye is such a clever person, Ye Huan could learn how to use her even by looking at her.

Jiang Chuwei then inquired about her second sister-in-law's recent situation.

Speaking of the second sister-in-law Zheng Yao, after her family was convicted of a crime, all the men, women, and children in the family were exiled, but Zheng Yao alone was spared.

People outside were talking about it, all thinking that she was lucky to marry into the general's mansion and thus avoid this disaster.

Only now did Zheng Yao truly understand her mother's good intentions.

When she got married, she disregarded the strong opposition from her many brothers, sisters-in-law and sisters and insisted on bringing most of the Zheng family's property into the general's mansion as her dowry.

It turned out that her mother had known all along that the Zheng family couldn't keep all this wealth.

My mother wants to protect the family fortune. She knows her own nature and won't ignore the Zheng family.

Besides maids and nannies, there were also many servants who accompanied the bride.

They were all born into the Zheng family and were extremely loyal to the family.

These people can be very useful at crucial moments.

After understanding her mother's profound meaning, she stopped crying all day long as before.

Zheng Yao never blamed anyone for all the changes and hardships that the Zheng family suffered.

She knew perfectly well that her husband's efforts behind the scenes were indispensable in helping her escape this calamity and avoid the extermination of her entire family.

As long as family members are still alive, there is still a glimmer of hope for the future.

Since then, Zheng Yao seemed to have undergone a complete transformation, as if she had suddenly matured and become much more sensible.

Now, she is only thinking about how to manage the businesses of those shops outside in a meticulous and thoughtful way.

After all, the amount of money they currently have is far from enough to save the Zheng family from their dire straits.

Therefore, she had to rack her brains and do everything in her power to earn more wealth, so that when the Zheng family returned, she would not fall into a difficult predicament again.

Although the late emperor had explicitly forbidden the Zheng family's nephews and nieces from ever serving as officials in the court, Zheng Yao knew that as long as he had enough money as a solid backing, the Zheng family could have a glimmer of hope for a comeback.

At this moment, Jiang Chuwei was quietly listening to her mother's lavish praise of her two sisters-in-law, and her smile broadened considerably.
