Chapter 53 The Prince of Xiang's Mansion

Jiang Chuwei looked at the sky and realized it was still early, thinking of her mother's worried expression.

Never mind, I'll just wander around outside one more time before going back.

Jiang Chuwei asked, "Where does the princess wish to go?"

Seeing that things were looking promising, Princess Qingning said to the coachman, "Turn around!"

The coachman hesitated for a moment, then heard Jiang Chuwei say, "I'll listen to the princess."

The princess is like a child, and Jiang Chuwei has nothing better to do than be with the carefree princess without having to scheme against her.

Princess Qingning was especially happy today; her impression of Jiang Chuwei had changed drastically.

It turns out that Lu Yanfang had been lying to her all along.

What's even more unexpected is that Jiang Chuwei also has medical skills.

She is truly a treasure of a woman.

Princess Qingning greatly admires capable people, and Jiang Chuwei happens to be one of them.

"Shall we become best friends from now on?" The princess looked at Jiang Chuwei with anticipation.

"Don't you find me annoying?"

Jiang Chuwei also found it amazing.

A few hours ago, the princess unilaterally designated her as her mortal enemy.

It's only past noon, and they're already going to become sisters?

"That was before. I was deceived by Lu Yanfang. My mother often said I was a fool. It turns out she was right." The princess said with a look of disgust.

Jiang Chuwei: ...

Does the princess despise herself?

"From now on, we are sisters," the princess declared unilaterally.

Jiang Chuwei remained noncommittal.

It's impossible for people to become sisters or close friends in a day.

The princess said with a hint of regret, "If Ye Huanhen and I were together, we could become sworn brothers."

Jiang Chuwei chuckled; the princess was indeed simple-minded.

"Madam Yun has family matters to attend to, and Miss Yun was frightened today, so Ye Huan naturally wants to keep her company."

"I think today's events are inextricably linked to Miss Yun," the princess said, pursing her lips.

Jiang Chuwei was surprised and glanced at the princess.

"Do you think I'm really stupid?" the princess asked.

“How could a princess who grew up in the royal palace be stupid?” Jiang Chuwei said.

The princess immediately beamed with joy.

Of course she's not stupid.

She would also talk to her about the secrets of the inner quarters.

She simply prefers to view the world with a naive perspective.

She hoped the world was a good place, so she never showed any mercy to malicious people.

Jiang Chuwei is the same today; when she dislikes her, she won't fawn over her, but when she likes her, she'll...

Tell your mother that she is her good sister.

The carriage moved slowly along the bustling streets.

Jiang Chuwei asked curiously, "Where are you planning to take me?"

“The Prince’s Mansion!” Princess Qingning said.

We're almost at the Prince's residence. Jiang Chuwei shouldn't turn around and leave, right?

Jiang Chuwei nearly dropped her teacup: "To the Prince of Xiang's residence?"

"Is that not allowed?" Princess Qingning said dismissively.

Jiang Chuwei sighed, thinking to herself, "The princess really does things on a whim."

“I haven’t made any preparations for today, and my unannounced visit will startle your father and mother,” Jiang Chuwei tried to persuade her to change her mind.

"It's alright. My mother loves lively gatherings. As for my father, he only comes home at night; he's nowhere to be seen during the day."

Do you always bring people you've just met to the Prince's mansion?

"How is that possible? Is the Prince of Xiang's residence a place that just anyone can enter?" The princess looked incredulous.

It seemed as if Jiang Chuwei had asked a very stupid question.

Jiang Chuwei: Never mind, let her be.

Given the princess's personality, she would chase after him even if he jumped off the carriage.

Jiang Chuwei didn't care much; she could just bring a gift next time.

I wonder if the princess will mind my sudden visit.

"Come down!" The princess directly took Jiang Chuwei's hand.

It was as if they were afraid she would just run away.

The gatekeeper was taken aback when he saw the princess, as she had never brought anyone with her before.

Along the way, the servants bowed respectfully and continued with their own tasks, without one of them secretly observing them.

It seems the princess's housekeeper is very strict.

The flowers and plants in the Prince's mansion were neatly trimmed and in full bloom. The fact that the mansion could still be so thriving in this season shows that the Princess is quite the capable housekeeper.

"I'll take you to pay your respects to my mother first, and then we'll have dinner in my courtyard."

The princess made all the arrangements perfectly.

Jiang Chuwei decided to make the best of it since she was already there and stopped worrying about whether she would be impolite.

"Mother!" The princess rushed into the arms of the Princess Consort of Xiang like a fiery red butterfly.

Princess Xiang opened her arms to take her daughter, her face full of doting affection: "Where did you go running around today?"

"Mother! My good sister Jiang Chuwei." She pulled Jiang Chuwei to introduce her to her mother, afraid of neglecting her.

"Jiang Chuwei?" Princess Xiang asked in confusion.

"Yes, she will be my best friend from now on." Princess Qingning couldn't hide her pride.

Jiang Chuwei curtsied and said, "Greetings, Your Highness! May Your Highness enjoy boundless blessings and peace!"

The Princess Consort of Xiang looked her up and down.

"Mother! Jiang-jie will feel uncomfortable if you do this." The princess waved her hand in front of her mother.

The princess snapped out of her daze and immediately slapped her daughter's hand away: "Nonsense!"

Jiang Chuwei's face stiffened; she had indeed been abrupt.

Then the princess pulled Jiang Chuwei over and looked her up and down again: "I didn't expect Jiang Chuwei to be such a beauty. Come, come, please sit down."

Jiang Chuwei breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out that the princess's easily startled nature was inherited from the princess consort!

"I've been hearing rumors about Miss Jiang these days. I thought she was ugly, but I never expected her to be such a delicate person. Young Master Lu must be blind."

Jiang Chuwei: ...

Are you going to start by reopening old wounds?
