Chapter 6: Getting lost

"Miss! You've suffered so much!" Granny Qiu hugged Jiang Chuwei tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.

This is the young lady she has pampered and raised; this whole Marquis's family is truly heartless and cruel.

Xia Qi told her about the young lady falling into the water on the way.

Jiang Chuwei knew that Granny Qiu was worried about her.

"Granny, I'm fine." Jiang Chuwei's voice was very nasal.

Jiang Chuwei felt heartbroken when she saw Granny Qiu again.

In her previous life, Granny Qiu was also sent by her to manage the estate, but the Marquis's mansion blocked all news about her.

Granny Qiu always believed that her young mistress was doing well.

After she learned that her mistress had been imprisoned, she immediately hitched up a carriage and returned to the Marquis's residence.

On the way back to the mansion, he was hit by a large rock, and he and his vehicle plunged off a cliff. His remains were never found.

These were all things that Qiao Xuerou had told her triumphantly in her previous life, just to destroy her will to live.

The stone that fell from the mountain was deliberately rolled down by people from the Marquis's residence.

The same thing happened in this life; she was in a coma for so long, and Granny Qiu was completely unaware of it.

The Marquis's mansion treated her people like cattle and horses, working for their own benefit.

"Granny! I will return to the General's Mansion. From now on, the fate of the Marquis's Mansion is none of our concern."

Granny Qiu is the most sentimental person. Having lived for so long, she can see better than Miss Qiu who has ill intentions.

Although she knew the people in the Marquis's mansion were no good, she reciprocated by treating the Lu family with the same sincerity because her mistress was so devoted to them.

I never imagined they were all such ungrateful wretches.

"Miss! This old woman will listen to you." Granny Qiu wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes.

"We are going back, but we want to leave unscathed."

She couldn't let it affect the Jiang sisters' future marriage prospects.

Granny Qiu looked at her young mistress, relieved that she had finally seen through the true nature of this family.

"Yes! This servant will obey, Miss."

"Miss, Granny Li has brought the meal." Chunqin pushed open the door and came in.

"Let her in!"

Led by Chunqin, Granny Li entered the room, and upon seeing Jiang Chuwei, she knelt down and kowtowed deeply: "This servant greets the young mistress!"

"Please get up!" Jiang Chuwei quickly helped her up.

Jiang Chuwei will always remember the kindness of a meal she received in her past life.

Granny Li was startled and quickly moved away.

She's just a servant; how could she possibly be worthy of such a position?

Besides, the young mistress had saved her life, so it seems the young mistress doesn't remember helping her.

That's true. The young mistress is such a kind person; she must have done countless favors. How could she possibly remember them all?

Chunqin opened the food box: braised goose feet, steamed kidneys, Dongpo pork, beggar's chicken, and sweet fermented rice balls...

A table full of food.

Surprisingly, these were all foods that Jiang Chuwei liked to eat.

Jiang Chuwei's appetite was whetted: "You've got a kind heart! Here's a reward!"

Qiu Shu rewarded Granny Li with a large purse.

She could see clearly that the young lady's eyes were full of gratitude when she looked at Granny Li.

A meal wouldn't warrant such a look from the young lady, but since she's been so polite to her, a little more reward wouldn't hurt.

Granny Li accepted the heavy reward money and was about to kneel down to express her gratitude.

Jiang Chuwei: "I'll be relying on Granny Li from now on. I wonder if Granny Li would be willing to come and work at Ya Fang Courtyard?"

Without a second thought, Granny Li agreed, immediately addressing her as "Miss": "Miss! This servant is willing!"

Granny Qiu glanced at her and thought she seemed to know when to advance and retreat.

"Alright! I'll get your indenture. You can start working in the small kitchen at Avon Hospital."

"Thank you, Miss!" Granny Li expressed her gratitude.

Although Jiang Chuwei wouldn't be staying at the Marquis's residence for much longer, for safety's sake, she planned to start using her own small kitchen.

Granny Li was the one who showed kindness to him in front of everyone. Later, when she had a falling out with the Marquis's mansion, Granny Li's life in the Marquis's mansion would not be easy.

In her past life, she was bullied to the point of being utterly humiliated.

Take her indenture; she can come with you if she wants, or you can give her some money to leave the Marquis's mansion and make her own way.

It's better than being bullied in the Marquis's mansion.

"Miss! You must eat more today, so as not to waste this delicious food!" Donghua teased.

They were disgusted by those shameless people at Shou Kang Tang and desperately needed delicious food to heal.

"Let's all eat together." The table full of dishes made Jiang Chuwei's appetite whetted.

But no matter what she said, not a single servant sat down at the table.

The young lady is the legitimate daughter of a noble general's family; how can they be so unruly?

Jiang Chuwei let them go.

After she finished her meal, the servants ate all the remaining dishes.

Granny Li's cooking skills are truly exceptional.

Just then, the maidservant who had been sent out to keep watch over Jianjia Courtyard returned and reported, "Miss! The young master has gone to Miss Biao's courtyard."

"Keep an eye on it." Jiang Chuwei glanced at the time.

"Yes!" Miss is truly insightful.

The young master sneaked off to Jianjia Courtyard, where his cousin came out to greet him in a flamboyant manner. The two shamelessly embraced each other right at the door.

The little maid who was keeping watch almost had her eyes pop out.

"Let's go to the garden to digest our food first." Jiang Chuwei got up and walked towards the garden.

Today we're going to see a great show.

Apart from Chunqin, the master and servants walked in the garden, where the bright red hibiscus flowers were in full bloom, vying for attention.

Although it was already October, the garden was thriving.

Jiang Chuwei collected flowers from various places and brought them to the Marquis's Garden.

She planted all these flowers herself.

Jiang Chuwei picked a flower and tucked it behind her ear.

"Miss, you are so beautiful." Xia Qi was unable to describe the young lady's beauty in words.

At that moment, she regretted that she hadn't read any books and couldn't describe the young lady's beauty.
