"Tell me, what happened today?"
The emperor pointed at the young eunuch.
The young eunuch spoke fluently: "Your Majesty! Today, the Empress felt bored in the palace and wanted to come out for some fresh air."
The Empress felt that the scenery of the plum grove was particularly beautiful, so the servants accompanied her.
After staying in the plum grove for about half an hour, this servant was worried that Your Highness might catch a cold, so I decided to go back.
Just as the palanquin was lifted, a wild cat darted out and jumped onto the empress's lap. Startled, the empress stumbled and fell to the ground.
"What? Consort Mei fell straight down?" The Emperor was shocked.
"Yes...it is this servant who deserves to die. This servant failed to take good care of Your Highness. I beg Your Majesty to punish me," the little eunuch cried.
"Stop crying. I will punish you as I see fit. Now tell me everything you have seen," the Emperor said impatiently.
He wondered if someone had deliberately released this stray cat.
"Later, Her Majesty started bleeding. The servants dared not move her and sent someone to fetch Imperial Physician Zhou. However, Imperial Physician Zhou was late in arriving. It was Miss Jiang who treated Her Majesty." The little eunuch didn't forget to complain about Imperial Physician Zhou.
Imperial Physician Zhou looked sadly at the young eunuch; his legs were about to break from running.
"Miss Jiang saved Consort Mei?" The Emperor looked at Jiang Chuwei.
He remembered that she was the one who saved the young master Yan from the Yongning Marquis's mansion.
"Yes, it was Miss Jiang who saved Her Majesty. Miss Jiang gave Her Majesty a pill, and Her Majesty's stomachache subsided," the little eunuch continued.
Imperial Physician Zhou exclaimed, "No wonder Her Majesty's health is no different than usual; it turns out that Miss Jiang has brought her back to health with her miraculous skills."
The Emperor glared fiercely at Imperial Physician Zhou.
Imperial Physician Zhou immediately shut up.
Upon hearing Physician Zhou's words, the Emperor immediately understood that it was Jiang Chuwei who had saved his Consort Mei.
But why is it such a coincidence?
"Why does Miss Jiang carry pills with her at all times?"
The Emperor's sharp eyes looked over.
Jiang Chuwei lowered her eyes: "Your Majesty, I always carry medicine with me, no matter when or where."
"Sister Jiang, you've thought of everything so carefully," Princess Qingning interjected with a compliment.
Jiang Chuwei smiled and looked at her.
"Are these pills for preventing miscarriage?" the emperor continued to ask.
Jiang Chuwei cursed inwardly. Was this a sign of suspicion, and they were interrogating her like a criminal?
As rumored, the emperor was indeed very suspicious.
"No, it's for detoxification," Jiang Chuwei replied calmly.
"Antidote?" the emperor and Imperial Physician Zhou asked in unison.
"Yes, Your Majesty's bleeding is due to poisoning, not from a fall."
Physician Zhou put away his previous admiration; wasn't this blatant nonsense?
The Empress shows no signs of poisoning!
"Zhou Zhitong, what do you have to say?" The emperor looked at Imperial Physician Zhou.
Imperial Physician Zhou felt a chill run down his spine.
If the emperor calls him by his full name, he should be careful about losing his head.
"Your Majesty, I could not feel the pulse indicating that the Empress has been poisoned," Imperial Physician Zhou replied truthfully.
"Physician Zhou, why don't you take my pulse again?" Jiang Chuwei said.
Zhou Zhitong looked at the Emperor.
"Granted!"
This time, Imperial Physician Zhou took the pulse more carefully and thoroughly.
"Imperial Physician Zhou, besides the slippery pulse, does Her Majesty also have a faint, stabbing pulse?" Jiang Chuwei asked.
Imperial Physician Zhou frowned.
He was indeed careless just now.
Jiang Chuwei pointed it out, and indeed there was a needle-like pulse.
Imperial Physician Zhou wiped the sweat from his brow: "Your Majesty, the Empress has indeed been poisoned."
"Bang!" The teapot fell to the ground with a thud.
A large bump immediately appeared on the forehead of Imperial Physician Zhou.
"I deserve to die!" Imperial Physician Zhou hurriedly knelt down.
"Has Consort Mei been poisoned long ago? Didn't you notice? What have you useless people from the Imperial Hospital been doing? If anything happens to Consort Mei, I'll have you all buried alive with her." The emperor's face turned green with anger.
"Your Majesty! I am guilty. I will do my best to take care of Her Majesty." Imperial Physician Zhou kowtowed to the ground, his forehead covered in dirt.
"Your Majesty, if I may be so bold as to speak, this poison cannot be blamed on Imperial Physician Zhou. Normally, this poison would never take effect. It was only because Her Majesty stayed in the plum grove for a relatively long time today that the poison took effect. As long as Her Majesty did not go to the plum grove, the child would have been born safely."
Seeing that Jiang Chuwei spoke logically and persuasively, the Emperor was completely convinced that she was truly capable.
"Tell me, what is this poison called? Will it affect Consort Mei's health?" The Emperor was eager to know, and he tried his best to suppress the raging fire in his heart.
Someone actually dared to poison him right under his nose. If he finds out, he'll tear him to pieces.
Jiang Chuwei said, "These are all called 'One-Fall Plum Blossoms.' Eating them alone won't cause any problems, but if a pregnant woman eats them and inhales the pollen from the plum blossoms, she may experience spotting in mild cases, and in severe cases, she may lose the baby."
"Wang Defu, investigate for me! I will find this man and tear him to pieces!" the emperor said through gritted teeth.
Princess Qingning had never seen her imperial uncle like this before.
It turns out that the Emperor's uncle almost lost his mind for a woman.
She looked at the emperor on the imperial carriage, and her gaze towards the crowd seemed to want to devour them.
When he looked at Consort Mei, the Imperial Uncle quickly changed to a gentle and affectionate expression.
Princess Qingning looked at Consort Mei, and strangely, her face remained completely expressionless.
She was completely bewildered. Logically speaking, shouldn't Consort Mei be the most furious person?
Why is she so calm? Like an outsider.
Princess Qingning looked at Jiang Chuwei, who shook her head at her.
Princess Qingning swallowed back what she was about to say.
