4 Menggui High School (4)
The Supreme Truth of the Fierce High School
Forced to run with his mouth full of wind, the first thing Xie Yunhuai did when he finally stopped was to shake off Qin Fu'an's hand.
Qin Fu'an didn't care about this. He naturally let go and turned his face to look at the playground where they were gathering.
An ordinary playground, densely packed with students, school leaders standing on a high platform, and a strange, tall flag that turned from scarlet to dark black standing next to it.
Qin Fu'an looked up at the dark flag that fluttered wildly in the wind, which was painted with a special pattern made of what was probably human blood.
It's indescribable, you can't look directly at it. If you stare for more than two seconds, you'll feel a stinging pain in your eyes and cerebral cortex, and physiological tears will silently stream down your face.
These are conclusions Qin Fu'an drew from other players.
After all, he only glanced at it, but the players seemed to be bewitched after their eyes fell on the flag, unable to look away, until Nanzhu and Yake forcibly blocked their gaze and interrupted them.
"What is drawn on this flag?" Bai Song covered his eyes, which felt like they were being pricked by needles, and felt that what was flowing out of his eyes was not tears, but red blood overflowing from his eye sockets.
After he let go, the situation didn't improve. Instead, he trembled and waved his hand in front of his eyes, exclaiming in horror, "What's going on?! Why is my vision blurry now?!"
Not only him, but within half a minute, several players who looked up at the flag experienced the same thing.
Their vision appears to have been largely deprived.
It was just a brief glance, lasting less than five seconds.
Qin Fu'an saw the panic and unease of these people, but had no intention of going forward to communicate with them.
Even when Nan Zhu looked at him with the note in her hand, Qin Fu'an only glanced at her indifferently and coldly interrupted her steps forward.
Three minutes had passed, and the students on the playground stood like thin, silent ghosts in their respective classrooms. Their eyes were as numb and empty as ever, but when the female voice on the loudspeaker cheerfully announced the latecomers, they all turned their heads to look at the entrance of the playground.
There stood several students who had been as numb as they were, but at that moment, when their names were read out over the loudspeaker, the teachers, students, and school leaders on the vast playground seemed to have suddenly entered some strange field, and everything changed.
The students' originally thin figures silently swelled up, and their originally numb eyes were filled with extreme greed and madness. They let out low growls of unbearable desire from their throats, and their original blue and white school uniforms gradually showed many mottled blood-red spots under the sunlight.
Meanwhile, the teachers and school leaders on the platform were further amplified by the existing anomalies, but instead of rushing towards the late students, they laughed and charged at the students' homeroom teacher, feasting on him like wild beasts as he struggled.
Aside from the players, the only person still standing properly was probably the neatly dressed and respectable principal at the very front of the platform.
He smiled as he watched everything unfold on and off the stage, then closed his eyes and sighed with delight, his eerie, seductive voice echoing throughout the entire school through the microphone.
"Students, please remember our school motto, abide by the school motto, follow the class rules, study hard, and take the college entrance examination with all your might. This is the only truth that has enabled our Menggui High School to maintain a 100% college entrance rate since its establishment."
"And those bad kids who violate school rules and regulations, just like now, will eventually become fertile nourishment for outstanding students to strive for excellence and grow vigorously."
"Academic performance is the only passport to our Fierce and Unpredictable High School!"
"In Menggui High School, there will never be any unqualified students."
Such elegant arias, such passionate speeches, students and teachers covered in blood and gore grinning with bloodied mouths full of approval and praise, while the players mixed in with them were made to look like outsiders.
"...Are they crazy?" Yak stared in horror as the densely packed figures walked back from the entrance of the playground. He swallowed hard, his scalp tingling.
Especially when students passed by, his body stiffened, every nerve was taut, and he dared not make the slightest move.
While he could see this absurd and bizarre carnival clearly, the other players around him were filled with fear and unease.
what happened?
Who said those things? What did they look like?
Why can't their eyes be restored? They clearly didn't do anything, they just glanced at the school flag!
"The shop, the shop... there must be some medicine that can relieve this!" A player who was still relatively quick-witted frantically reached out and frantically poked at the screen in front of him.
What made him increasingly desperate was that he couldn't open the system store. Apart from the screen full of comments pitying or mocking him for waiting to die, he couldn't open the system store at all!
Seeing his expression gradually become frantic and his eyes quickly become bloodshot, Nan Zhu had no choice but to step forward and interrupt him, whispering, "...It's no use. Once you enter the dungeon game, the shop is locked. You can only buy the resources you need after the game starts and ends."
"Do you have any?!" The player whose movements were blocked stared wide-eyed at Nan Zhu, his fingers gripping her sleeve tightly, and asked urgently, "Do you have any medicine? You've already played two games, you must have some medicine prepared, right? Share some with me, please! I can transfer points to you, just give me some now, give me some, I don't want to die, I..."
His words came to an abrupt halt.
Warm blood suddenly splattered onto Nan Zhu's body. She was so shocked by the other person's sudden death that she gasped for breath. When she came to her senses, she slowly raised her eyes and met a series of blood-red eyes that were greedily chewing.
Nan Zhu stumbled backward in fright. If someone hadn't reached out and supported her from behind, she might have fallen straight to the ground.
The player's corpse, which had also lost her physical support, grew countless new eyes after she retreated. As they blinked and laughed, the flesh was gnawed and torn apart, leaving only a blood-stained school uniform and a pile of skeletons lying quietly on the plastic track.
He died.
He died so suddenly, pleading for a chance to live even before he died.
But he did not die from his own injured eyes. Instead, one eye silently gnawed a bloody hole in his heart and then devoured him completely, inside and out.
"During recess, students in the lines must not make noise or fight. I don't want it to happen again." The teacher, covered in eyes, grinned and reminded Nanzhu, who was shivering and stiff.
But he said he didn't want it to happen again. His eyes, however, revealed a greedy desire for pleasure. With his eyes blinking randomly, they silently and stickily stared at every student in Class 4 of Senior Three, as if they were inspecting and picking out the most suitable fish to kill and cook in a fish tank. That fish would surely be the delicious dish he had been looking forward to.
Beside him, the other teachers, each with a different appearance, cast envious and jealous glances, then turned to scold their students even more harshly and fiercely for being disobedient.
For the players, everything that happened here was like an absurd and bloody nightmare.
Qin Fu'an stood at the back of the line, stretching out his arms and doing the most ordinary morning exercises. He seemed to have no empathy for the player's death, and the indifference in his eyes shocked many viewers.
[Compared to him, the student NPCs around him seem more like normal beings.]
[In the world outside the game, within the rules, wouldn't this kind of person be some kind of psychopathic killer? I was watching the whole thing, and he didn't even blink once during that player's death!]
[These humans... they seem even more bizarre than the supernatural? Did the game streaming system really not have any bugs when selecting streamers?]
[If he doesn't stick to a team, no matter how strong he is, he'll eventually fall. In the various dungeons of the Ghost Realm, the more arrogant a person is, the faster they die. I'll follow one of them and wait for the day he courts death.]
There are quite a few viewers who share the same sentiment as the comment above. Of course, some viewers simply like Qin Fu'an's face and personality, or perhaps they are attracted to his light green, clear, gem-like eyes.
So even though Qin Fu'an did nothing, and it was only the first level of the beginner dungeon and the first day of the game, he had already gained a lot of attention. His popularity was even about to surpass that of streamers like Nan Zhu, who were in the third dungeon.
However, Qin Fu'an was not unmoved by the scene; rather, he noticed that his deskmate seemed to be feeling somewhat unwell.
When the roll call for late students was announced over the loudspeaker, all the students rushed to the entrance of the playground to absorb the fertile nutrients from the new soil. Only Xie Yunhuai stood next to him, frowning as he watched the absurd and nauseating scene unfold.
When the player was being devoured from the inside out by the strange creature with the pupils of the homeroom teacher, Qin Fu'an noticed that Xie Yunhuai's throat moved, as if he was nauseous and wanted to vomit.
But that's strange.
Qin Fu'an blinked in confusion, her beautiful, clear light green eyes reflecting Xie Yunhuai's slender and straight figure.
From the very beginning of the game, what Qin Fu'an could see was completely different from what the other players could see.
What the players see are strange creatures, but he sees through those strangely shaped skins countless souls imprisoned within.
Among these strange creatures' souls, Xie Yunhuai's soul was the largest, so large that it brazenly emanated from Xie Yunhuai's small body, enveloping the entire school.
Compared to Xie Yunhuai, even the soul of the principal on the podium seemed like the most insignificant ant.
Despite possessing such a strange and powerful soul, Xie Yunhuai felt nauseous and uncomfortable because of the most normal eating scene.
Qin Fu'an stared at his deskmate, a question mark slowly popping into his head.
Can even strange creatures suffer from anorexia?
It's truly remarkable that the soul has grown so large.
