98. Mysterious Dream Fairy Tale (21)
I'm definitely going to live off her.
Qin Fu'an and Little Sunflower watched the little suns that were constantly playing images.
Neither of them spoke, and they just watched quietly as the music slowly finished playing, and then at some point it played on a loop again.
Only then did the little sunflower reach out and use its leaves to scoop up all the small suns that were suspended in the air, embracing these life-force entities that originally belonged to it.
From Qin Fu'an's perspective, it held these little suns as if it were about to be submerged, yet its clear and clean eyes were full of worry.
Quite inexplicably, Qin Fu'an suddenly thought of Xie Yunhuai from the Mountain God's "The Ghostly Village Worships Gods" dungeon.
Just like the little sunflower at this moment, it always exudes a peculiar contradictory quality formed by the intertwining of humanity and divinity.
But the little sunflower in front of us, and the little mountain god in another instance, are not human in essence, but rather monsters from a bizarre instance.
An NPC that looks completely unremarkable.
Qin Fu'an had no idea what kind of being Xie Yunhuai was in the eyes of the audience.
But in his eyes, Xie Yunhuai had never changed.
Just like Xiao Xie when they first met, he has human emotions like joy, anger, and sadness; he can be shy and angry. Even if he is a ghost, he sees him as the cutest and most special ghost.
As Xie Yunhuai's identity and personality changed in different versions of the story, Qin Fu'an was moved and delighted, but never thought that he would hate or resist contact with any version of Xie Yunhuai.
He didn't think Xie Yunhuai in the first instance was stupid; he only thought he was thin and stubborn, so he subconsciously took care of and protected him in every way.
He didn't hate the cursed little mountain god in the second instance, nor did he mind that the other was born mute and unable to speak. He only felt heartache and anger, so he taught him to write his own name, helped him take revenge on the evil villagers, and offered his heart in silent companionship.
Qin Fu'an was not worried that Xie Yunhuai in the third instance would prevent him from completing the mission, because he was in love with him and would try to find loopholes in the rules to turn the entire Hundred Flowers Town into fertile ground for Xie Yunhuai's growth.
In this instance, Qin Fu'an felt a little regretful that he hadn't recognized his little cloud when they first met.
Otherwise, he would never have let this little sunflower leave so easily. He would have coaxed her to come with him and would have firmly occupied every inch of her vision and every thought, just like he did in other instances. From the moment they met, he would gradually leave his mark on the little sunflower.
Unfortunately, there's never such a thing as "if only I had known" in the world.
Qin Fu'an looked at the person holding a handful of sunflowers, his deep green eyes softening little by little, filled with gentle joy. When the sunflowers glanced over unintentionally, he looked at them without flinching.
"...I want to try first to see if I can separate the happiness and pain from these memories." The little sunflower was a little flustered by his gaze. She quickly looked away and began to explain while starting to work.
I don't know why, but when I occasionally meet the eyes of the repairman, I always have this strange feeling that my heart is pounding.
But if I am a toy, or even a toy without the heart of a toy, how can I feel a heart beating?
I guess it's because I'm about to do something I've never done before, and I'm afraid I'll mess it up, so I'm a little nervous and worried.
Thinking this, Little Sunflower took a deep breath, secretly glanced at Qin Fu'an, and then quickly lowered her head. After arranging the little suns in her arms from dark to light in order, she began to skillfully pick them out.
While it was busy, Qin Fu'an was also examining the crystal ball in front of him.
It's clear that it was indeed shattered, and to be pieced back together to its current near-complete state, one can only imagine how many times Little Sunflower went through the dream of the crystal ball to make it so whole.
However, Qin Fu'an roughly understood the connection between this instance and these toys, the fairy tale city, and the dream world from the little sunflower's explanation.
From the moment it became conscious, the little sunflower lived in the abandoned amusement park of Fairy Tale City, and like Xie Yunhuai in other instances, it could not leave the fixed area of the amusement park.
But it can enter the dreams of other toys, which is probably the little sunflower's special ability, so it brought those toys that "died" in the outside world to the fairy tale city.
Not only that, but in her dreams she also helped those toys retrieve their original bodies time and time again, trying to put them back together.
So, Fairy Tale City was originally Little Sunflower's home, but as more and more toys came, it transformed from Little Sunflower's home to a home for all the toys.
And this little sunflower's dream of talent, which started as a single crystal ball, grew larger and larger, eventually merging into a nearly complete corner of reality that he had seen before.
What carries the life and memories of these toys is the amusement park, the little sunflower's talent, and Dr. Sunflower's silly "psychological therapy" day after day.
The only thing that's unclear is the most important thing: the heart of a toy.
According to what Little Sunflower just said, it must have sensed these toys in its dream world and then, out of pity, retrieved them and brought them back to Fairy Tale City.
But from the perspective of the other toys, they suddenly gained a toy heart after they died, and then, guided by the toy heart, came to the fairy tale city to continue their lives.
So, what exactly is the relationship between Toy Heart and Little Sunflower?
Why do all other toys have a playful heart, but the little sunflower doesn't?
Qin Fu'an's thoughts raced as he tried his best to integrate all the clues he had gathered. However, being only two days old, his understanding of the instance was still insufficient, so several logical connections remained unresolved.
So he simply calmed down and watched the little sunflower carefully and attentively pick out the memories contained within its tiny sun.
Perhaps noticing his gaze, or perhaps worried that she would neglect him if she was too focused, the little sunflower simply separated the little suns she had picked out and piled them on either side of the lucky cat, so that he could touch and play with them.
I also explained to him why I did it.
"Because I've seen it so many times in its dreams, I can easily pick out its painful and unhappy memories without having to wait long."
Ultimately, Little Sunflower was too obedient. She was clearly trying her best to help Qin Fu'an get the Heart of the Toy, but she was still worried that her focus would bore him.
"Are you sure you don't need my help?" Qin Fu'an asked helplessly, feeling that this gigolo was too delicious and too plentiful.
The little sunflower shook its head quickly, and its previously cold little face, while still looking at him, suddenly broke into a big, unguarded laugh, just like in the fairy tale town.
"I'll be quick," it assured Qin Fu'an.
The next second, the green-eyed lucky cat raised its paw and gently touched its smooth forehead.
It's like a reward that doesn't need to be spoken.
-
As it turns out, Qin Fu'an is determined to live off his wife.
As Little Sunflower said, things really did happen very quickly. As Qin Fu'an carefully tried to distinguish the differences between the two types of little suns with different memories, the number of little suns in front of Little Sunflower gradually decreased.
Qin Fu'an also discovered the different effects of the two types of memories on the little sun during his observation.
As the little sunflower separated the last two little suns, Qin Fu'an waved to it, making it look at him.
"Mr. Repairman, is something wrong?" Little Sunflower squatted down in front of the bench, resting her cheeks on her hands and tilting her head to look at him.
Just like when they were in Fairy Tale City, Dr. Sunflower had the same habitual little gestures.
Qin Fu'an chuckled and guided it to observe the two small suns he had deliberately presented.
It was a bit dusty, but the music playing on it was a memory from a fairytale city that seemed quite recent.
The other one sparkled with a warm light, and on it was playing a video of two little girls happily holding a crystal ball.
"Little Sunflower, can you feel the difference between them?" Qin Fu'an pushed the two little suns in front of it.
Upon hearing this, the little sunflower reached out and grasped each of them, carefully examining them before letting out a surprised "Eh!"
Its eyes widened in surprise as it stared at the little sun in its hand, looking left and right before finally looking blankly at Qin Fu'an.
"Repairman," the little sunflower exclaimed in surprise, "Why is this one still glowing even though it's been there for a long time? And this one... this one was just put in here a couple of days ago when I was treating the crystal ball!"
It first held the glowing, warm one and showed it to Qin Fu'an, then shook the other, grayish one with a puzzled look.
"Because they carry different memories from the kernel."
Qin Fu'an didn't keep the mystery in suspense; with a single sentence, he dispelled the fog that had been obscuring Little Sunflower's vision.
Perhaps because bystanders see things more clearly than those involved, Little Sunflower never noticed the difference between memories.
Of course, it's also possible that Dr. Sunflower has treated far too many toys, so it's already exhausted and numb, just like it can no longer laugh in its dreams. It no longer has the extra energy to explore deeper reasons.
At that moment, after Qin Fu'an pointed out the difference, the little sunflower was so surprised that it almost jumped up.
"So that's how it is!" Its voice rose several octaves as it exclaimed excitedly, "Repairman, you're so clever! I think I should have done this a long time ago. If I had discovered it sooner, perhaps everyone in Fairy Tale City would be living a more relaxed and happier life!"
Little Sunflower herself never expected that her original intention of simply helping the repairman obtain the heart of the toy would, by a twist of fate, lead her to the best way to cure the toys.
"Thank you, sir! I know what to do now!" Its eyes sparkled as it looked at Qin Fu'an, its previous worries now replaced by smiles and joy.
Seeing how happy it was, a smile flashed in Qin Fu'an's eyes, and he raised one of the cat's paws as before.
The next second, the little sunflower consciously half-squatted closer to him, closed her eyes and let the cool cat paw gently land on her forehead and between her eyebrows.
They're incredibly well-behaved.
“We’ll help each other.” The boy’s clear, pleasant voice, tinged with laughter, rang in its ear: “When the time comes, you will heal their wounded toy hearts, and I will be responsible for repairing their broken bodies. Before long, the entire fairytale city will be full of healthy and happy toys.”
Perhaps, after treatment, they will not only be healthy and happy, but also upgraded Plus versions.
[Author's Note]
Good morning everyone! Have you been playing that super popular game lately? Is it fun? I'm thinking of buying it, but I'm worried I might get motion sickness from 3D games.
