134 The Outpost (5)
Are you here to cause trouble?
"And you? Will you die here too?"
The boy's voice was scattered by the night wind, but Qin Fu'an still caught it clearly.
He glanced down at his hand, which was being held, and chuckled softly as he asked, "Do you want me to stay here?"
"What do you mean?" Xie Yunhuai stopped in his tracks once again.
Qin Fu'an's words contained too many meanings that he either understood or didn't want to understand.
Xie Yunhuai gazed into his clear, light green eyes, looking at his own reflection within them, and said in a slightly somber tone, "What if I wanted you to stay here?"
If I want you to stay here, does that mean I want you to die?
His questioning words were clearly conveyed through his cold and displeased gaze.
Qin Fu'an raised his hand and stroked his furrowed brows, which were furrowed due to his bad mood, smoothing them out little by little before coaxing him with a soft laugh: "If you want me to stay here, I will stay here. If you don't want me to stay here, I will leave."
"No matter what, I will not die." He said this casually, as if the rules that all players in the game instance had to abide by were nothing more than fragile pieces of paper that Xie Yunhuai could break with a single sentence.
Xie Yunhuai stared at him intently, her fingers unconsciously tightening around his knuckles, and asked in a hoarse voice, "What if I were to send you to your death?"
He stared intently into Qin Fu'an's eyes, unwilling to miss the slightest change in his expression.
Qin Fu'an was slightly taken aback, then shook his head.
In the brief moment when Xie Yunhuai's heart clenched, Qin Fu'an lowered his head and kissed his eyes.
Xie Yunhuai: "..."
The negative emotions that hadn't even surfaced were so easily suppressed.
His once empty heart seemed to be filled again, so full that he suddenly didn't know what to say. All his emotions were stuck in his chest, and he finally fell into a strange silence.
It was truly a kiss devoid of any lustful intent, so gentle that it felt as if a tiny feather had gently landed on his eyelids, touched them briefly, and then floated away.
But that one moment of touch made Xie Yunhuai feel more flustered and helpless than any of the countless intimate acts in those fragmented memories.
He felt it was real.
Only now did the overwhelming reality make him vaguely realize: this was not another dream.
When he wakes up, there will be no emptiness, and he will no longer be alone in the dilapidated building, waiting day after day.
The person from his dream was now truly standing before him.
Instead of a life belonging to "another Xie Yunhuai".
It is his life.
In his brief moment of stunned silence, Qin Fu'an, who had just lowered his head to kiss his eyes, raised his hand, ruffled his hair, and asked him with a smile, "Does Little Cloud want me to die?"
Xie Yunhuai: "..."
He stumbled back a step, almost losing his balance, but the other person held his hand. For every step he took back, the other person would take a step forward. The silent coercion was far more aggressive than his previous questioning.
Xie Yunhuai wanted to avoid his gaze, but remained motionless for a long time. Only after a long period of stiffness did he slowly shake his head under Qin Fu'an's smiling gaze.
No, I don't want to.
I don't want him to die, and I can't imagine him dying in front of me or in a place I can't see.
And so a tender kiss fell upon his other eye as well.
"Since you can't bear to part with me, little cloud, why don't you have a change of heart and spare my life to stay with you a little longer? How about that?"
Qin Fu'an's green eyes were filled with a faint smile. He lowered his head and affectionately rubbed the boy's brow. His words sounded like a plea for mercy, but it was Xie Yunhuai who was being relentlessly pushed back and had nowhere to retreat.
"..." Xie Yunhuai pursed his lips, feeling the warmth constantly transmitted from their clasped hands. He closed his eyes and forced himself to remain calm, saying, "I was just asking casually."
An awkward explanation.
Qin Fu'an chuckled, then gently tucked his clenched, white fingers back into his pocket before leading him onward.
The night wind was chilly, but none of them felt cold.
Two tall figures crossed paths and quickly disappeared into the dimly lit street.
A post station for the desperate.
It was clearly late at night, but when Qin Fu'an arrived with Xie Yunhuai, there was already a ghost waiting outside the door.
The red and green scrolling lights on the signboard of the escape station were even more dazzling in the darkness. Qin Fu'an led Xie Yunhuai over, and Gui, who was anxiously waiting at the door, also turned his head to look over.
"Finally here! Open the door quickly, I need to pick up my package!" It seemed very anxious.
As Qin Fu'an approached, he could still hear Qin Fu'an muttering something about the invitation letter expiring.
It seems that the previous courier died and left the company, which is why the other party was unable to pick up their package in time.
Qin Fu'an raised an eyebrow, released Xie Yunhuai's hand, and walked towards the post station under the watchful eyes of several people. He bent down and lifted the roller shutter door of the post station that he had casually closed.
A pungent, fishy stench erupted from the air in an instant.
Qin Fu'an had anticipated this and had already placed a spiritual energy shield over his and Xie Yunhuai's heads to isolate their auras.
Then, with practiced ease, he turned on the lights and used his spiritual energy to quickly sweep away all the sticky, unidentified liquid on the floor and throw it into the roadside sewer. Only then, at the very last second of 12 o'clock, did he pin his employee badge with his name on it to his chest.
"The last four digits of the package number." He said, then pressed the boy, who had been silent since he arrived, onto the only stool and sat him down. He then started working in his employee uniform.
"I don't remember!" the strange creature that had hurriedly squeezed in snapped irritably. "If I remembered the last few digits, I would have taken it myself. Why would I need you?"
Qin Fu'an paused slightly in the hand holding the scanner, looked up at his first customer, and asked in an ambiguous tone, "You're here to pick up a package, don't you remember the last few digits of the tracking number?"
"So what?!" Just like a human in the real world who always acts unreasonably, this monster slammed its fist on the table and yelled in a sharp, piercing voice, "Hurry up and find it! Aren't you a deliveryman? If you don't find my package quickly and delay my business, I'll definitely give you a one-star review!!"
Behind this ghost were several other ghosts who came to pick up their packages late at night. They reacted differently to the news, but when they looked at Qin Fu'an, their eyes were filled with excited anticipation.
What were they expecting? They were happy to see this scene, and even eagerly anticipated that things would escalate further, hoping for Qin Fu'an's resistance or resignation.
However, to the surprise of every ghost, Qin Fu'an only glanced at the arrogant ghost before walking past it and looking at the next ghost in line behind it: "The last four digits of the package number."
All the tricksters were stunned.
This includes the two ghosts standing in front of the counter and the one Qin Fu'an questioned.
They stared at each other blankly for a moment. The one that had been so anxious and arrogant at first suddenly became even more enraged. It slammed its fist on the table, its eyes flashing with a ferocious light that seemed to want to devour Qin Fu'an alive: "Didn't you hear me? I'm in a hurry to pick up my package! You...you're ignoring me! You..."
Countless insults were uttered in a single sentence.
Even his foul-smelling saliva sprayed out with his output, only to be completely enveloped by Qin Fu'an's spiritual power and then stuffed back into his mouth in front of all the monsters.
Qin Fu'an remained indifferent, completely ignoring the reaction of the first ghost, and calmly looked at the other ghost who was still in a daze: "The last four digits of the package number."
After being questioned twice, the ghost finally snapped out of its daze and, for some reason, dared not cause trouble like the previous ghost. It hurriedly gave the last four digits of its package number.
Qin Fu'an walked towards the express delivery shelf.
These packages were similar to those in real life, but many of them were wriggling and making various noises. Qin Fu'an walked over, ignoring them all and showing no curiosity whatsoever, focusing only on finding packages with matching last two digits.
In just a few seconds, he took a quiet package and held it in his hand.
The next second, a blood-like liquid began to seep out of the package, dripping all over his hands.
Qin Fu'an, without changing his expression, carried it to the counter and, amidst several strange looks, reached out and pressed down on the package.
It also stopped the claw-like hand that was trying to take the package.
"...?" The creature looked up blankly, staring at him in confusion.
"Good review." Qin Fu'an gave him a friendly, business-like smile.
sly:"……"
Startled by the laughter, he nodded hastily, pulled out his phone, frantically tapped on it, and then looked at Qin Fu'an with lingering fear: "Okay, okay, my package..."
Qin Fu'an glanced at the positive reviews he had received on his phone, silently raised an eyebrow, decisively let go of his hand, and watched as this sensible customer took his package away.
As the other party turned away, Qin Fu'an even kindly reminded them, "The package is inspected and opened on the spot. Once it leaves the station's area, all losses are unrelated to the station."
The other person, who had been frozen in place, nodded hastily after hearing his words, then quickly disappeared into the night while carrying the package containing what he didn't know what it was.
Qin Fu'an looked at the next customer in a good mood.
Just as he was about to speak, the monster that he had been ignoring finally erupted in anger.
It transformed into its true form right in front of Qin Fu'an.
A... porcupine?
Qin Fu'an looked at its enormous body, barely large enough for its head to squeeze into the room, and stared into its scarlet eyes for only half a second before looking away expressionlessly. He put on a smile again and asked the pig, which had squeezed into the corner, "Are you sending or picking up a package?"
When asked the question, he replied cryptically, "...Send, no, no, I, I'll pick up the package!!"
It also hurriedly gave the last digit of the package, and before Qin Fu'an handed it over, it gave a very helpful five-star review, and then ran out with the package in its arms.
In order to squeeze through the door blocked by the porcupine, it even immediately transformed into a mouse and ran away with the package through the gap.
However, it didn't run far. Qin Fu'an's divine sense could detect that the timid mouse was now boldly hiding in a corner, excitedly watching the Desperate Post Station.
Qin Fu'an knew what it was excitedly anticipating.
He certainly wouldn't let the other party down.
Qin Fu'an glanced at the pig-headed man who was delaying his work and trying to earn good reviews, and said in a nonchalant tone, "This guest, are you here to cause trouble?"
Unfortunately, this customer is no longer able to communicate.
It desperately tried to squeeze into the house, its angry grunts echoing throughout the street. Corrosive saliva dripped from its sharp teeth as it fiercely lunged towards Qin Fu'an, trying to devour him.
Qin Fu'an's polite inquiry had no clever answer.
Qin Fu'an sighed, seemingly helpless, and looked at the gaping maw so close to his face. His expression turned slightly cold as he chuckled, "Since you've acquiesced, then don't blame me for being impolite in order to maintain order at the post station."
The next second, the shrill squeals of pigs, filled with anger and appetite, suddenly disappeared.
The entire street fell into an eerie silence in an instant.
