Chapter 2: The Ashes Building (2) Are you there? Lend me some milk powder...

It is exciting to listen to ghost stories in a broken-down elevator late at night. However, if you find out that the person telling the story is a ghost and the story is about her, it will no longer be exciting but terrifying.

Yue Ya did not point it out, and the woman with smiling eyes did not continue the topic. After the other players understood it belatedly, their breathing became heavier and the atmosphere became more tense.

“Ding—” The elevator suddenly lit up and opened to both sides, and the stuffy air couldn’t wait to escape.

"We're here, make way..." The players living on the third floor couldn't wait to "escape" outside. The fat man who was walking at the end was so anxious that the zipper of his suitcase got caught on the gauze skirt of the smiling woman.

"Stop!" The smiling woman grabbed the fat man's arm and complained as she untied her skirt, "Why are you in such a hurry? Are you in a hurry to be reborn?"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." The fat man apologized repeatedly, his arms and shoulders shaking.

As soon as the smiling woman let go of his hand, the fat man rushed out of the elevator in a hurry, and the sound of the suitcase wheels rolling echoed throughout the corridor.

There were only three players left in the elevator, Yueya, the young man with glasses, and a lady with a high ponytail.

The elevator door closed again. No one spoke. The woman with smiling eyes was still smiling, and her boyfriend still had a blank expression.

In this case, it is safest for players to turn a blind eye.

The elevator quickly reached the fourth floor. The three players were all on this floor. Unexpectedly, the woman with smiling eyes also lived on this floor.

She patted the bespectacled young man's arm enthusiastically and scanned their faces one by one: "So you both live on the fourth floor. We are neighbors. That's great. It will be more lively in the future. I wish you a happy move and have...sweet dreams!"

The woman made a heart shape with her hands playfully and walked away holding her boyfriend's arm.

After the NPC's back completely disappeared, the young man with glasses breathed a sigh of relief. He did not mention what happened in the elevator, but only said: "I live in 402. You can come to me if you have any problems. The system rules do not restrict players from living together. If you are afraid, you can stay with me."

The royal sister said: "Let's stay in separate rooms tonight. I'll stay in room 406."

Yue Ya looked at the sign on the wall and reminded Yu Jie: "That couple of NPCs live next door to you."

"Thanks, I'll pay attention." The royal sister nodded.

The three of them added each other's contact information and then separated. 404 and 406 were in opposite directions and needed to cross a blocking door first. As soon as Yue Ya pushed open the door, she heard a weak "wool", as if there was a small animal hiding behind the door.

He walked quietly around the door and saw a little kitten lying on the ground, its front paws loosely against the door, its body covered in gray.

Yueya squatted in front of it, his expression softened: "Little guy, why are you here?"

The little kitten raised its head and tried hard to open its eyes. Yue Ya then discovered that the colors of its two eyeballs were different, but it was still young and the colors were not very clear.

Yue Ya touched its head, and it didn't dodge, but rubbed his palm instead. Yue Ya curled his lips and checked its body. Apart from being a little thin and dirty, there were no obvious external injuries. It must be hungry if it was so weak.

"Brother will take you home." Yueya put it in his arms and opened the door of 404.

Bright lights spread out, and a simple, brand new house appeared before our eyes. The house was quite clean, but it did not feel lively at all and was filled with an unpleasant smell of wood paint.

Yueya placed the kitten on the sofa and observed the new "home". The layout of the house was not bad, with two bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a balcony that was neither too big nor too small, and only some basic furniture.

He found a can of drinking water in the kitchen but no food. He then opened the suitcase provided by the system, which contained clothes, daily necessities, a wallet, a pair of red candles and a piece of paper money for the dead, but no food.

The presence of the candles and paper money was so strong that when he took them in front of him, the system immediately sent a prompt:

[The player binds the novice item "Money makes the world go round". ]

[Instructions: This item is a combination consumable item, its function is to bribe evil spirits, the effect varies from ghost to ghost.]

[The player's backpack has been opened, with five initial positions for storing items and personal belongings. ]

It also gives away props for beginners, so this game isn't completely shady. However, what Yueya needs most right now is food for the kitten.

He first put a bowl of water for the kitten, then contacted the housekeeper on his mobile phone to ask him where he could buy goat milk powder, cat food or chicken breast. Since the phone had the contact information of the property and the housekeeper, of course he had to make the best use of it.

The housekeeper responded quickly, and it was obvious that he was on duty 24 hours a day: [Hello, the fresh food supermarket in the community sells it, but it is closed now. I remember that your neighbor Ms. Chen from No. 403 has a child at home, so she should have milk powder. If you really need it urgently, why don’t I ask her for you?]

Yueya agreed, if there was no milk powder, other food would be fine.

After a while, the housekeeper sent a photo of goat milk powder: [Ms. Chen is at home and has milk powder. I have already greeted her. Just ring the doorbell.]

Yue Ya thought about it and decided to give it a try. After trying to store and retrieve items using the player backpack, he took the kitten and went out.

He didn't turn on the live broadcast screen, so he didn't know that the number of viewers in his live broadcast room was growing rapidly and they were discussing the matter of him picking up the cat enthusiastically.

[Others start with a knife, but he starts with a cat?]

[Which novice player is not a clay Buddha crossing the river, picking up cats? He seems to prefer to lose the novice props and borrow milk powder. Is he playing a horror game or a pet-raising game?]

[I've never seen anyone raising a cat in a dungeon, this is really new]

[Cuteness is justice, why can’t we pick up such a cute kitten! ]

[I heard that a newbie is planning to raise a cat in the dungeon, I came to watch]

Yue Ya was completely unaware of all this commotion. He held the kitten in his arms and rang his neighbor's doorbell.

There was a slight noise in the room, followed by the sound of a doorknob turning. Yue Ya said gently and politely, "Hello, I'm your neighbor. I want to borrow some goat milk powder..."

"Squeak--" the door opened a crack, and cold wind seeped out, causing Yueya's hair to stand on end instantly.

The door was completely open, and there was no one behind it. There was no light in the house, and the voice-controlled lights in the corridor shone into the room. Yue Ya saw his own shadow on the glass door of the entrance garden, distorted like a ghost.

There was no one in the room, so how did the door open?

The phone just happened to ring, Yueya opened it and saw a new message from the housekeeper: [Hello owner, have you seen Ms. Chen? (^_^)]

Where did Ms. Chen come from? There is no one in the room.

In this kind of atmosphere, anyone else would have probably run away, but Yue Ya was concerned about the kitten's food and did not leave in a hurry.

It doesn’t matter whether Ms. Chen is a human or a ghost. What matters is whether she has milk powder at home.

The kitten meowed anxiously. Yueya scratched its chin and raised his voice: "Ms. Chen, are you home? I want to borrow some goat milk powder. I can pay for it."

"Gulugulu..." There was a noise coming from the corner of the wall. Yue Ya looked closely and saw a round jar rolling towards her.

The jar rolled to his feet, stood up tremblingly, revealing the crooked words "ashes" on the lid!

This is an urn!

Yue Ya suddenly had a bad feeling and took a step back quickly.

Before he could stand still, a pale face suddenly appeared in front of him, with a cold nose only a finger away from him! It was too close, so Yue Ya couldn't see the face clearly. He was stared at closely by two eyes with pupils as big as sesame seeds, and his scalp was a little numb.

The stench of decay filled her nose. Seeing that she did not attack immediately, Yue Ya suppressed her displeasure and spoke to her in a gentle voice as if she were a living person: "Ms. Chen? It is better for us to maintain social distance."

The sesame-sized pupils in Ms. Chen's eyes slowly moved downwards and she let out a creepy laugh. She was indeed able to communicate and obediently moved a little distance away.

Yueya saw her clearly. Ms. Chen was wearing a red dress, and her knees were covered with black mist, which extended all the way to the urn. Her skin was as white as paper, her long, wet hair hung on her broken head, and the left half of her face was rotten and maggots were crawling.

She stared at Yue Ya, slowly grinned, revealing a mouthful of jagged fangs, and smelly saliva flowed from the corners of her mouth. She licked her lips with her long purple tongue, making a "slurping" sound.

"..." Yueya felt that the way Ms. Chen looked at him was as if she was looking at a piece of delicious fat meat.

He felt that he was not here to ask for food, but to be his rations.

Ms. Chen's skirt was stained with blood but was well-cut. She was wearing jewelry. It was obvious that she was a delicate woman who paid attention to dressing up. Yue Ya raised her eyebrows and said, "You were also a decent person when you were alive. Do you think it's polite to drool over a neighbor you just met?"

The corners of Ms. Chen's lips, which were raised high in a grin, suddenly drooped down. She wiped the corners of her mouth mechanically, but the more she wiped, the more liquid came out, and soon her front was wet.

"..." Being stared at like food was not a good feeling. Yue Ya wanted to make a quick decision, so she pulled the corner of her mouth against her will: "You look much more elegant now. Do you have goat milk powder?"

"Slurp..." As soon as Ms. Chen opened her mouth, her saliva burst out. As if she couldn't resist the temptation, she suddenly opened her mouth wide, revealing her dense teeth covering the entire mouth. Her slippery long tongue spurted out like a snake and swung towards Yueya's neck.

"There's no milk powder. Can you let sister take a bite? Sister will only eat one bite!" The shrill and terrifying voice exploded in Yueya's ears, and Yueya's eardrums were almost shattered.

"That's too much, I refuse!" Yue Ya took out a candle to block the long tongue that was swinging towards her. The barbs on the tongue scraped off nearly half of the wax. Ms. Chen rolled her tongue back and licked it continuously as if she had eaten a delicacy, and did not launch another attack for the time being.

[“Money makes the world go round” has been consumed by 15%]

The kitten poked its head out of its pocket and bared its teeth at Ms. Chen, as if it wanted to protect Yueya.

Yue Ya's listless eyes opened completely, and a cold light flashed across his ink-stained pupils. He curled his thin lips and rubbed the kitten's ears: "If there is no milk powder, will you eat the ashes?"

Kitten: "Awooo!"

Yueya nodded seriously: "Eat, okay?"

Ms. Chen, who was tasting the wax, choked and stared at him with dead eyes: "What did you say?"

A gentle smile appeared on the pretty face. Yue Ya kicked the urn on the ground with one foot. The kick was quite powerful. The urn drew an arc in the air and hit the wall directly.

With a snap, it cracked.

The ashes were scattered all over the ground. Ms. Chen's ferocious face was full of shock. Before she could say a word, her soul was torn into pieces.

Ms. Chen's body has been attached to the urn, which means that the urn is her pulse point. Yue Ya had already seen this and delivered a fatal blow.

Ms. Chen's broken soul merged into the ashes and disappeared completely. The kitten suddenly jumped to the ground excitedly and began to lick the ashes.

Yueya quickly picked it up and said, "I was just joking, did you really eat it? Spit it out quickly, or you'll get a stomachache."

The kitten licked its mouth with great satisfaction. Its left eye had turned into a thrilling red color, while its right eye had turned into a clear and pure azure blue. It was no longer as weak as before, and it exuded a faint chill. Obviously, this jar of ashes containing the evil ghost's soul was its real food.

Yueya was surprised, he let go, and the kitten immediately dove into the ashes and ate the food with big mouthfuls, and the dirt on its fur began to evaporate.

"What kind of cat did I pick up?" Yue Ya held her chin and looked at the kitten with more tenderness and doting eyes: "It's pretty cool."

He remembered something, so he took out his cell phone and opened the chat box with the housekeeper. The photo the housekeeper sent him was still there, but the milk powder can in it had turned into an urn.

Yueya's eyes stopped at the last message sent by the housekeeper - "Hello, owner, have you seen Ms. Chen?"

Now it seems that this sentence is more like reminding him to look at the urn on the wall.

Yue Ya looked up and found a round camera on the top of the corridor. It was like an eye hidden in the dark, staring at everything.
