Chapter 100 Dream (long chapter on previous life)

Lin Wei had a dream at night.

In her dream, she saw "herself" and two children sitting on the bed playing games. Suddenly, a thunderbolt struck, illuminating the sky outside. Following the perspective of the characters in the dream, she saw raindrops hitting the glass with the strong wind.

"Mom, when will the rain stop?"

Suddenly, Lin Wei heard Mingming's voice and turned her view back to the room. She saw Mingming yawning and looking bored.

"It will stop soon."

She heard the voice of "her" in her dream, but this time she didn't see "her" in her dream. Then she realized that their perspectives had overlapped.

"She" turned around and took out a deck of cards from the drawer of the bedside table. The deck of cards was bought during the Chinese New Year, and after the Chinese New Year, "she" put it away and never took it out to play. Until now, seeing that the children were bored, "she" took it out and said, "Let's play a game."

Mingming's attention was quickly attracted by the poker: "What game?"

The sleepy Ruirui also opened her eyes and looked over, asking in confusion: "Isn't this only for adults to play?"

"Today there is no distinction between adults and children." The "she" in the dream said, shuffling the cards skillfully, then dividing the cards into three parts, and telling the children, "This game is called tractor, and the rules are as follows..."

"She" told the children the rules and demonstrated to them with her own cards. When the children understood, she collected the cards, shuffled them again, and placed a card in the area surrounded by three people.

The card game called Tractor was very attractive to children. The two children soon became very focused on playing it. Occasionally, if "she" was slow in playing a card, she would be urged.

Time passed unknowingly, maybe half an hour, maybe an hour, after a game was over, "she" felt tired, she stood up and rubbed her waist, when she lowered her head, Lin Wei saw "her" already bulging belly.

After massaging her waist, she sat up from the bed, moved her legs and asked, "Are you hungry?"

After the game was over, Mingming, who had taken the initiative to shuffle the cards, exclaimed, looked up and asked, "Are you not going to play games anymore?"

"Mom is tired." The view turned to the window. The wind and rain outside had not stopped, and it was even getting heavier. "She" turned back and said, "You guys play. Do you want to eat? Mom will go downstairs to get it."

Mingming immediately became happy, raised his hand and said, "I want to!"

"What do you want to eat?"

"I want to eat biscuits, peach cakes, mangoes..." Mingming counted on his fingers. In short, he wanted everything that was available at home.

“She” laughed and said, “Then mom will go downstairs, you guys can play slowly upstairs.”

The two children agreed in clear voices and came together to deal the cards.

"She" opened the bedside table and looked around, but couldn't find the flashlight. She slapped her forehead and then remembered that she was used to putting both the flashlight and the candle in the chest of drawers in the living room. The typhoon had just landed, and it was not yet dark when they came up, and the electricity was still on, so she did not think of flashlights and candles, and could only open the door with her empty hands.

There was a power outage, and after going out, "she" did not try to turn on the light, but went straight to the dim stairwell.

At that moment, Lin Wei suddenly felt her heart palpitating. She wanted to shout "no" and wanted to step back, but she couldn't make any sound. She could only watch the stairs getting closer and closer.

In the dream, "she" walked down the stairs.

"She" seemed to hear the sound of water.

But soon she heard the sound of thunder. She raised her head, looked towards the door of the master bedroom, and quickened her pace to go downstairs.

When she reached one of the stairs on the lower level, she was suddenly drenched in water. When she looked up again, the rain was pouring down like a bucket.

“She” realized something, but it was too late. “She” had already stretched out her foot and stepped down, but because of her distraction, the step missed.

Although she held onto the handrail, she was unable to maintain her balance because the stairs were slippery. She slid sideways and sat on the bottom step, screaming.

"She" felt the rain gathering into puddles below, but "she" no longer cared as pain spread from her abdomen throughout her body.

Cold sweat mixed with rain rolled down her body, and her whole body was soaked. The desire to survive made her scream. But the wind and rain were so strong and there was thunder, the two children playing games upstairs heard nothing.

Lin Wei was out of the perspective of "her" in the dream, and the scene in front of her eyes changed back and forth. One moment, "her" was sitting under the stairs, with the rain washing her body and washing away the blood in her body. The next moment, two children were playing games upstairs.

The thunder made Ruirui a little uneasy, and she forgot to play her cards for a moment. Mingming shouted loudly: "What are you doing? It's your turn to play a card!"

Rarity shouted back, "It's thundering!"

Mingming stood up and sat next to his brother, put his arm around his shoulders and shouted, "Don't be afraid! Mom will be here soon!"

"But mom has been downstairs for a long time!" Ruirui shouted, put down the cards in her hand and asked, "I want to go find mom, do you want to come with me?"

Mingming looked up at Lei outside, a little afraid to be left alone in the room, so he said yes loudly, put down the cards, and followed his brother downstairs.

The staircase was dark and the thunder was scary, so the two children held hands as soon as they walked out of the room and walked downstairs.

When they reached the third step, Ruirui started calling for her mother. Mingming said loudly, "The thunder is too loud! Mom can't hear us!"

But "she" downstairs heard the sound, it was not clear, but she knew that two children had come. She looked up and wanted to call their names.

But because of the bleeding and the rain, she was breathing out more than breathing in, and her voice was too small. The two children could not hear her and just continued walking down.

Mingming Ruirui turned around after walking down the first flight of stairs. Another loud thunder sounded and lightning shone in from the door and windows of the living room. It became a little brighter downstairs. Both children saw the figure at the bottom of the stairs and froze in their places.

"Mom..." Mingming shouted with trembling lips.

Ruirui reacted faster. He let go of his brother's hand, walked downstairs quickly, and shouted, "Mom!"

Hearing the sound, "she" downstairs looked up and dimly saw Ruirui's hurried footsteps. She shouted with all her might: "Stop! There's water..." The second half of the sentence was already too weak.

Ruirui felt the rain, and he held the handrail, slowed down his pace and walked down to "her", trying to pull her to a dry place. Mingming also reacted, followed her downstairs, and quickly came to "her" side, crying and helping his brother to pull her up.

But they were too weak to pull "her", so they could only push "her" to the left side of the stairs to avoid the flowing rain.

And "she" also tried hard to open her eyes and raised her hand to wipe Mingming's tears, but both "her" and the two children were covered in water and the tears could not be wiped away at all.

She opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out. She leaned over to listen, but heard nothing. She shouted, "Mom, what did you say?"

Suddenly, Ruirui stood up and said, "I'll go call for help!"

Mingming looked up blankly and asked with tears in his eyes, "What?" Ruirui said loudly, "You stay at home and take care of mom. I'll go get someone to save mom!"

As he said this, he turned around and tried to pull the bolt of the back door, but the bolt was too high and he couldn't reach it. Mingming saw it, climbed up from "her" side, moved a stool over, Ruirui climbed onto the stool, pulled the bolt, jumped down, opened the door, and rushed into the rain.

She watched Ruirui run to Zhou's house, knock on the door hard and shout loudly, but the rain was too heavy and the people inside couldn't hear the sound. He ran out from under the eaves, ready to give up and go to someone else's house. When he left the yard, he happened to see the bricks pressing on the gate of the yard. He picked them up and smashed them hard, picked up a piece, and threw it hard towards the second-floor window of Zhou's house.

I missed the first time, but I got it the second time, the third time... and the fifth time.

Chen Bamei walked to the window and saw someone waving his hands downstairs. She hurried downstairs, opened the door and asked what was going on.

"My mother fell down!" Ruirui cried loudly, begging Chen Bamei to save her.

Chen Bamei followed Ruirui out of the rain and came to the Zong family. She saw "her" sitting at the bottom of the stairs, bleeding profusely, and hurriedly helped "her" up.

But Chen Bamei is just a girl. Even if she is stronger and can help "her" to a dry place, she can't carry "her" to the hospital.

They need more help.

After hearing this, Ruirui wiped the water off her face and said, "I'll go call someone," then turned around and rushed into the rain again.

When he passed Zhou's house, he went into the yard, picked up the remaining bricks, put them on the hem of his clothes, and then went along the road, smashing them at every house.

Lin Wei woke up crying again.

As soon as she woke up, Zong Shao woke up too. He turned on the light, held her in his arms, patted her back and comforted her, "It's okay, it's okay now."

During the day, when he told Lin Wei that there were broken tiles above the stairs and rainwater flowed in through the holes, wetting the floor, her expression began to look strange.

After breakfast, she began to urge him to complete the discharge procedures.

After returning home, she went straight to the place where the water was puddle, followed the puddle upwards, and looked at the hole in the roof for a long time. She remained in this daze for the entire next day, until she fell asleep at night, and now she woke up crying.

While comforting Lin Wei, Zong Shao put his hands behind his back, picked up the handkerchief on the bedside table, and wiped away her tears.

Perhaps because she had survived a life-and-death crisis, although Lin Wei was sad, she soon calmed down. She took the handkerchief from Zong Shao, stepped out of her arms, and asked while wiping her tears, "Am I really useless?"

"No." Zong Shao shook his head and asked, "Are you thirsty?"

"Um?"

"I'll go get a glass of water."

Zong Shao was about to stand up, but Lin Wei grabbed his hand the next second: "Don't go!"

He stopped moving, sat back on the bed, hugged the trembling Lin Wei, and patted her back again: "Okay, I won't go."

Lin Wei buried her head in his arms, listening to his heartbeat, and gradually stopped trembling. She said, "I just had a dream."

"What kind of dream?"

"I dreamed..." Lin Wei closed her eyes and whispered, "There was a typhoon, you were not at home, and I was playing cards in the room with Mingming and Ruirui."

"Playing cards?" Zong Shao asked. Their family didn't have any playing cards.

Lin Wei nodded: "It was playing cards. I got tired while playing, so I stood up and asked Mingming and Ruirui if they were hungry. I said I would go downstairs to get some food."

Zong Shao hugged Lin Wei's arms tighter: "And then?"

"Then, I opened the door and walked out. The power was out and it was dark outside. I walked down in the dark and seemed to hear the sound of water, but there was thunder and the sound of rain was also very obvious. I stopped on the stairs for a while and continued to walk down. It was not the sound of rain, but there was real water. I fell down..." Lin Wei clutched Zong Shao's clothes, "It hurts, it hurts so much."

Zong Shao touched Lin Wei's belly through her clothes, not daring to rub it, and only whispered, "It's okay, you see, we are together now, it's okay."

"That was now. You were not there in my dream. I bled a lot. I called out the children's names, but the thunder and rain were too loud and they couldn't hear me. I watched the blood flow out little by little and merge with the rain. She had no strength left."

Lin Wei rested her forehead against Zong Shao's chest and said with her eyes closed: "Mingming Ruirui and the others came down and saw her lying on the ground. They were terrified and kept crying. Ruirui said she wanted to save her, so he opened the door and ran out, smashing the Zhou family's windows with stones. Eighth Sister left... but there were not enough people, so Ruirui ran out again... He took the stones, got wet in the rain, and with red eyes, he smashed them one by one."

Zong Shao's throat moved: "How is 'her' in the dream?"

"I didn't see it, I woke up." Lin Wei whispered, "But I know she is dead."

“How could that be,” Zong Shao lowered his head and rested his forehead against Lin Wei’s. “It was just a dream. You didn’t dream about the ending. And didn’t you say Rui Rui broke many of the neighbors’ windows? Those who were at home would definitely come out to help. With so many people here, she will definitely be fine.”

Lin Wei said with tears in her eyes: "But this is not just a dream, I saw the result."

Zong Shao knew long ago that Lin Wei had a secret, and she had admitted that she had a secret. When she lost control of her emotions that time, she said that she would tell him the reason later.

But a month passed, two months passed, and he still couldn't wait for Lin Wei to speak to him, so sometimes he wondered if Lin Wei would really tell him the reason?

Or is it just an excuse?

It was not until Lin Wei asked him to take a leave and drive back that he felt something in his heart. And when he returned home during the day and saw the water on the ground and the holes in the roof, he guessed that it might be now.

But when it really came to this, he was a little hesitant and didn't know whether to continue asking.

But what is coming will come, and what needs to be asked must be asked clearly. Zong Shao wiped her tears with his fingers and asked, "What do you mean?"

Lin Wei really didn't plan to keep it secret any longer. She had concealed it before because she didn't want her whole family to be shrouded in the shadow of her imminent death.

Although she was unable to control her emotions in the end, causing Zong Shao to lose sleep and worry about her all the time, a short pain is worse than a long one. It is better for him to know nothing than to know that she will die but be unable to do anything, which is like cutting flesh with a blunt knife.

She didn't say that if she died, they could still treat it as an accident. It would be enough to suffer for a year or two, and they would always cheer up and live their own lives. But if they knew that she had known that she would die, would they be able to get over it after her death?

Lin Wei found it difficult.

Just like when a person dies suddenly in his sleep, his relatives and friends may feel sad when they think about it later, but at least they can comfort themselves that he died without much pain. But if he went to the hospital and underwent long treatment, when they think about him, they will always think of his final struggle.

If she died, she wanted them to think she had gone without suffering.

But the above thoughts were all based on the idea that "she couldn't survive". Now that she had survived the ordeal, she naturally had no worries. She said, "On the way to Yazhou Island with the army, I had a dream."
