Chapter 52 Someone Climbs Over the Wall

"Dad, you're eating."

It’s that brat Qin Yao again.

Qin Sui gritted his teeth.

Lin Su was completely unaware. After checking the time, she packed up her things and went back to her room. "I'm so sleepy. I'm going to bed first. Qin Yao, you should go to bed early too. You have to go to school tomorrow."

After she finished speaking, without waiting for the father and son to reply, she walked into the house and closed the door behind her.

Qin Yao really didn't see his father's eager hand this time, so he didn't feel guilty about ruining the atmosphere. He even said to his father, "Dad, I just heard you praising her. I don't think I've ever heard you praise me."

Qin Sui glanced at him and asked, "Do you really want me to praise you?"

Qin Yao keenly sensed that something was wrong. Noticing his father's gloomy expression, he swallowed nervously, "No... no need, Dad. I'm suddenly sleepy. I'm going to sleep first."

As he said that, he ran back to the house quickly, leaving so fast.

Qin Sui cursed the brat inwardly and ate the rice in the bowl as if to vent his anger.

Qin Sui is usually the first one to get up in the family, but today when he was about to go out, he saw a figure squatting at his door.

Seeing the gate open, Shi Juan quickly stood up and straightened her clothes a little awkwardly. "You are Deputy Head Qin, right? My name is Shi Juan, and I was asked by your wife to come here to make steamed buns."

Qin Sui nodded and said, "Yes, then go in and wait."

"No, thanks. I'll just wait here."

Seeing that she was becoming more and more uneasy, Qin Sui had to go back and prepare to call Lin Su, but he didn't expect that Lin Su had just gotten up and walked out.

"Who's coming?" she asked.

Qin Sui: "Shi Juan."

Lin Su smiled when she heard her name.

She really came, and she came so early.

Lin Su looked at her watch. It was only six o'clock. Shi Juan's home was far away and she didn't have a bicycle, so she had to come an hour or two earlier.

So, the second half of the night is equivalent to not sleeping?

When Lin Su saw Shi Juan, who was wrapped in cold wind and dew, she didn't know whether it was right or wrong to ask her to come so far to make steamed buns.

After welcoming the person in, Lin Su quickly poured a cup of hot water from the thermos and handed it to her, "Don't get up so early in the future. I usually start making steamed buns at seven o'clock here."

Shi Juan held the cup of water in her palm to warm it for a long time before drinking it. Hearing the sound, she looked up at Lin Su anxiously and said, "I usually get up early."

Lin Su wanted to say something but stopped herself. Finally, she sighed and said nothing more.

Shi Juan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and huddled in the corner, feeling very restrained.

Lin Su went to wash her face and brush her teeth first, and then went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the three children.

Qin Sui had left a long time ago, but Grandma Lin got up at this moment.

When she saw that Shi Juan had come so early, she felt satisfied but also felt a little sympathy for this woman who had suffered so much.

"You're here so early, are you cold on the road?"

When Shi Juan saw that Grandma Lin was talking to her, she quickly stood up and replied, "I'm not cold."

Grandma Lin: "Just sit down and talk. Rest your feet first. I'll go wash my face."

"Why."

After Grandma Lin left, Shi Juan saw Lin Su turn on the light in the kitchen.

It's still dark and the room is quite dark.

Shi Juan quickly put down the cup in her hand and walked over to help her.

After glancing at the light bulb above her head, Shi Juan felt a little envious.

Her family was so poor that they didn't even have a candle, and they had to travel in the dark. She would be lying if she said she wasn't afraid, but her husband was almost dying of illness and her children were about to starve to death.

Now that she finally has a high salary, Shi Juan no longer cares about being afraid.

Thinking of this, Shi Juan was grateful to Lin Su again in her heart. If she hadn't extended a helping hand, Shi Juan would have done irrational things in desperation.

So when Shi Juan saw Lin Su making breakfast, she didn't care about being embarrassed and stepped forward to take over Lin Su's work.

Lin Su wanted to refuse, but when she saw that the awkwardness on her face was less after she had done the work, she swallowed the words of refusal that were on the tip of her tongue.

After Shi Juan took over the job, she found out that the fire was made of honeycomb coal, which she had no idea how to cook.

Lin Su patiently taught her how to cook, and praised her after she learned it.

The awkwardness on Shi Juan's face eased a little.

After getting up, the three children washed their faces and brushed their teeth quietly. At the same time, they were very curious about the extra person in the house and kept glancing at her from time to time.

Shi Juan saw that the three children were good-looking, neatly dressed, with no patches on their clothes and small school bags, which were obviously the work of Lin Su.

"Your three kids look just like you do." Shi Juan couldn't help but praise them.

Lin Su smiled and said, "I am their stepmother."

When Shi Juan heard this, her face immediately froze and she was so embarrassed that she wanted to slap herself in the mouth.

Why are you so bad at speaking?

Lin Su saw through it and said, "It's okay. I like the three of them very much and I raise them as my own children."

Shi Juan smiled awkwardly and didn't dare to say anything else.

Lin Su didn't mind and taught her how to use the things in the kitchen while she was busy.

After breakfast was ready, Lin Su pushed Shi Juan to sit at the dining table and said, "Hurry up and eat. After you finish eating, we can make steamed buns."

Shi Juan only drank a bowl of very thin sweet potato porridge yesterday afternoon, so she was naturally very hungry now. However, Lin Su was already helping her by letting her come here to work, so how could she eat their family's food?

Isn't this taking advantage?

But Lin Su did not allow Shi Juan to refuse and directly stuffed the steamed bun into her hand, and handed her a bowl of steaming porridge.

It's very thick, as thick as dry rice.

She only cooks a pot of this porridge for her children during the Chinese New Year.

Perhaps it was because the heat was too suffocating, Shi Juan couldn't help but have tears in her eyes.

She had a bad life in the first half of her life. She was poor and married to an even poorer man. She gave birth to children but never gave them a single day of happiness.

Now everything is fine, her life has improved again, and she has met a living Bodhisattva.

Lin Su and Grandma Lin pretended not to notice her quick wiping of tears, but the three children couldn't help but sneak a peek, but they didn't say anything. They just ate breakfast obediently and were then sent to school by Grandma Lin.

Qin Keke got up too early and went back to bed. The only people still active at home were Lin Su and Shi Juan.

Lin Su began to teach Shi Juan how to knead dough. Shi Juan was stronger and could knead dough faster than Lin Su.

Seeing that Shi Juan kneaded the dough so well on her first try, Lin Su couldn't help but sigh that she had found a good helper.

Just as she was about to praise him, she heard a loud noise in the yard.

It seems like someone has climbed over the wall.
