Chapter 200 New Year's Eve (Part Two)

Jiang Shuyin fell asleep for half an hour. When she woke up and saw the children's careful movements, she couldn't help but chuckle.

“Mom’s awake.” Heimei came over and hugged her. “You were all asleep. It’s not fun at all.”

Jiang Shuyin pondered for a moment, then heard the sound of children setting off firecrackers outside and had an idea: "Then let's go out and play so as not to disturb Grandma and the others' rest. I'll take you to buy some nice things."

She stood up and realized that her hand had been on Xie Yin's hand the whole time, and she pulled it away from his palm as she had just moved.

She looked down.

Xie Yin looked up and met his gaze calmly: "I'll go too."

“Okay, drive my car.” Jiang Shuyin turned to Xing Zhengfei and instructed him, “Put on your hat and mask.” She then ordered Heimei, “Go to my room and get paper and pen to write a note saying we’re going out to play.”

Heimei didn't just watch TV at home for nothing; she could write everyday phrases. She would lean over her desk and write each character carefully, then skip over to the coffee table and weigh it down with a small cookie.

Xie Yin drove, and Jiang Shuyin sat in the passenger seat, peeking out to make sure the children were seated properly in the back before turning on the navigation and searching for the location of the fireworks factory, which wasn't far away.

The fireworks factory is having a tough time these days. The fireworks are too loud, and they almost went bankrupt. Then someone came to apply for the position of vice president and gave us an idea: just sell fireworks like the "Fire Tree and Silver Flower," "Lotus Lantern," and "Shuai Shuai Le" (a type of firework), which are not very noisy but look nice when set off at night.

Jiang Shuyin let them choose for themselves, and in the end they bought more than a thousand mission points worth of fireworks to take back and set them off downstairs in the community.

Heimei and Shuining didn't know how to play, so Jiang Shu demonstrated it for them, which attracted all the children in the neighborhood, and even the people in her building were watching from their windows.

"How much did you buy it for? It'll look nice to put on tonight." Someone came over and asked.

Upon hearing the price, she quickly turned and left, but after only a few steps, she said, "You spendthrift woman, wouldn't it be better to buy meat with this money? This money will be gone after it's used up, you're so stupid."

......

Jiang Shuyin lit some incense sticks for the children, saying, "Be careful, don't burn your hands." Then she pulled Xie Yin aside, asking, "Have you ever seen fireworks?"

Xie Yin: "I haven't seen it with you."

A smile bloomed on Jiang Shuyin's face as she looked up at the rising red firework.

Ace's ice-type ability naturally repels fire and light, but he enjoys seeing the combination of the two.

After the fuse burned out, sparks scattered in all directions, followed by bursts of multicolored light that gradually rose to a height that required people to look up, reflecting everyone's smiling faces.

Heimei laughed the most exaggeratedly, her mouth so wide you could see her teeth. Shui Ning's long blue hair was more dazzling than fireworks, and she also wore a red hat, making her face look small and delicate. Her cherry lips curled into a sweet smile.

Xing Zhengfei stood with his hands in his pockets next to Ace. In his eyes, it was a visual feast, with halos of different sizes and colors blooming one after another.

What a wonderful world it is, he really shouldn't be so violent.

When Zheng Lanxiang woke up, it was already dark outside.

She remembered that she had to cook dinner that night, so she hurriedly got up and saw several takeout boxes piled high on the table. She took a deep breath of the aroma, and her stomach started growling.

Seeing only the food but not the people, she picked up her phone and called: "The food isn't hot anymore. When are you coming back? I'll call your aunt and the others to get up for dinner."

Jiang Shuyin: "You call first, we're downstairs."

Half an hour later—

Zheng Meixiang emerged from the bathroom looking dejected, her eyes lifeless, as if her soul had been stolen away.

Zhong Dazhuang was a bit stronger; once he sobered up, he was particularly energetic: "So many dishes? They look like they were cooked in a hotel; they're generous with the oil and spices."

“I don’t know where she ordered takeout from, but just by the smell, I knew it must be good. I steamed a whole rice cooker full of rice, and we ate it all. Does brother-in-law still drink?” Zheng Lanxiang chimed in.

Upon hearing the word "alcohol," Zheng Meixiang perked up: "Don't give him any. He ruined half a bottle today. Where's Xiao Yin?" She glanced around the house: "Did he go on a date with Xiao Xie?"

Zheng Lanxiang burst out laughing: "I'm taking the kids downstairs to play."

Speak of the devil, and he appears; the door opened as soon as the words were spoken.

The children put on their shoes and rushed in. Xie Yin was the last to enter, locked the door behind him, and calmly sat down beside Jiang Shuyin.

"I made a reservation at noon. This restaurant was recommended by someone. The sauerkraut fish and garlic shrimp vermicelli casserole are their signature dishes. Mapo tofu is a free gift with any six dishes you order, and it's amazing with rice," Jiang Shuyin introduced to them.

Originally, I was supposed to order three days in advance, otherwise they wouldn't make it. Luckily, the shop owner remembered that she had helped him a lot before, so he kindly gave her an extra portion.

Zhong Ping ate his rice with gusto, taking a moment to give her a thumbs up.

Jiang Shuyin smiled and looked at him: "Xiaoping and Xiaoan, come downstairs with us after dinner. I bought fireworks, so we can share them."

Zhong An suddenly looked up, his eyes shining: "Really?"

Jiang Shuyin smiled and nodded: "Anshi is quite safe at night."

She even traced the source of those rat nests and wiped them all out, which is how she met the restaurant owner.

The food tasted really good; we even used the broth to mix with rice, and ate it all up.

Zhong Dazhuang was so stiff he could barely stand up straight. He sat upstairs for half an hour before daring to come downstairs and move around, which earned him a scolding from Zheng Meixiang.

The two sisters chattered away beside him, making as much noise as hundreds of ducks. Zhong Dazhuang couldn't stand it anymore, so he simply joined the other children.

Zheng Meixiang pulled her sister aside to have a private chat, and the two walked to a corner.

Zheng Meixiang covered her mouth and asked in a low voice, "You really don't plan to find another one? You're not even sixty yet, but I think you'll be eighty no problem at all. If you live like a widow, Jiang Jianli will think you still have feelings for someone else."

"Nonsense!" Zheng Lanxiang was furious. "How dare he think he can get along with anyone? I want to find someone I can really like. Don't underestimate me just because I'm old. With my looks, I've had plenty of suitors, but I haven't liked any of them."

The only one Zheng Lanxiang found somewhat charming, Lao Ge, was too materialistic. She wondered, "Why don't any girls a few years younger than me come to me? Men seem to only want to settle down with girls in their teens or twenties."

Zheng Meixiang snorted coldly: "Don't add burden to my niece. The good thing about the old man is that he died young. If you find a younger one, he might want to seduce Xiaoyin. Will you be angry with the man or Xiaoyin then?"

Zheng Lanxiang fell silent, and her previous ulterior motives disappeared.

Zheng Meixiang exclaimed "Hey!" and clapped her hands together: "Is Jiang Jianli's wife about to give birth?"

Zheng Lanxiang pouted: "Who knows? It's none of my business."

Seeing her like this, Zheng Meixiang wanted to make a move. Of the four sisters in the family, this third sister was the luckiest. When she was young, she had her protection; when she grew up, she had Jiang Jianli to take care of her; and when she got old, she had her daughter to rely on.
